Came across this place to sit in after a road trip. We loved it. Sashimi was fresh and well presented. Thumbs up to our waitress and other staff...attentive, friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back for our next special occasion.

Loved it here. Every dish we ordered was delicious. The service was a little bit slow but they were packed and had an engagement party there as well. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and took a good video of our group for my friend’s birthday.

Some of the best gyozas I’ve ever had and the wagyu steak special was awesome.

I think for the amount of food we ordered and drinks, that it was very well priced for the quality.

One of the most delicious Japanese in Melbourne ✨

We were a big group, there was no problem in accommodating us and we had great attention and service. The food was beyond delicious, every little portion was perfectly seasoned and the flavours were so well balanced.

We had they set menu for $75 per person and it was more than enough to feel satisfied. I would definitely recommend to this place to anyone.

Vibrant and busy on a Thursday night we were lucky to get an unreserved table. We shared quite a few plates between 4 people, and we left having been well-fed. The staff brought the dishes in a sensible order giving you enough time to enjoy each course. It is on the pricey side, but definitely delicious. Kurtis at the front desk welcomed us with a warm greeting and waiting staff were super friendly and helpful. We had a pleasant evening; although the place was buzzing, we did not have to shout to hear each other. I'd recommend this venue to anyone with a taste for good food in a cozy atmosphere.

One of my favourites restaurants in Melbourne, delicious Japanese food with high quality ingredients. The dishes are perfectly cooked, prepared and balanced.

Worth coming back when you are celebrating or your heart is feeling sad, this food will give you back a happy soul.

What a place! This time we sat outside in their street outdoor dinning area and it was great! Staff was busy taking ordering and helpful with choosing dishes to try. We loved everything we ordered, it was fresh and tasty. Drinks were equally just as good.

Would come back for sure!
I’m not a frequent Japanese food diner but this was such delicious food and as we did a feed me menu I got to try an array of different dishes which all were yum!
Went with people with dietaries too ans all were catered for, specifically vegans/vegetarians.
Service was excellent considering we were a table of roughly 20!

Awesome ambience if you book a table in the main dining room! We had a little booth, and curtains separated the tables - was really private and quiet too. Nice decking area as well for a warm night. Service was very attentive and prompt throughout a busy Saturday night. Generally good quality of food and presentation, pretty standard stuff for an izakaya. Prices mostly reasonable.

After 13 years in St Kilda we FINALLY made it to IchiNi! OMG I wish we'd been going sooner! Great cocktails, friendly service, food was amazing! We had the set menu which is basically Japanese 'fusion', ideal for the unadventurous Western pallet, but also delicious. It was belting with rain but very dry under the awning on the terrace. We'll be back again soon.

Deliciously fresh food and amazing cocktails and sake. Location is fantastic on the Esplanade in St Kilda. Great variety of food to share just as a couple or with larger groups. Kingfish sashimi, Edamame, E-bikes Mayo and Gyoza are always a favourite. I reckon a pretty good sign when there are other very well known chef’s eating there as a guest. Looking forward to coming back soon

Had a wonderful date night here today! Celia was so friendly and kind, giving truly exceptional service with a smile. Food was delicious and we ended up ordering more dishes and drinks as everything was so good. Cocktails were on point with a bit of something for everyone. Will definitely be back very soon!

One of my favourite Japanese restaurants in Melbourne! I have been going here for years.

It’s great food, great atmosphere, great drinks, without Kisume/Nobu prices.

I have walked past this place plenty of times, always sort of been put off by the price, I mean, it is a high end Japanese Izakaya, but I was having a good week so I thought 'why not.'

My goodness, the food here is absolutely stunning. I forgot how sometimes you get what you pay for, but my goodness. The food was out of this world.

I had three large softshell crab Baos and the Chashu Pork with rice and a glass of Sav Blanc. The love and care that goes into the food is commendable to say the least. The flavours and marinade... Everything woah!

Service was very friendly, all the waitresses had big smiles on their faces and the atmosphere of the restaurant was cosy and relaxing. I loved how I got to see the Chefs at work... All with laser sharp focus, much like the knives they were using.

This is somewhere where I would take someone out on a date. Will be coming back. Thanks so much guys, I really enjoyed my lunch.

We'd been to the Fitzroy one so many times, but this was our first visit to the St Kilda one. I must say that I would still go to Fitzroy as they have a larger selection of food on the a la carte menu. But presentation and quality were excellent. Not far from Luna park and the beach. Amazing for a trendy health conscious meal.

Best Agedashi I've ever had! I can see why it's busy. Had a great dining experience here. Highly recommended. Attentive and friendly staff, delicious food.
On the pricey side but worth it compared to other Japanese restaurant experiences I've had.
Book ahead of time to secure a seat.

So in love with this restaurant, I believe it has been around forever but it was a first for me and we had Christmas lunch here. Can not fault the food, everything was absolutely delicious.
The kitchen is open and central to the restaurant which adds a great atmosphere. Decor on point even in the loo.
Service could have been slowed down but I guess maximising Christmas turnover was the motive.

Highly recommend!!

Excellent deserts and we sat watching the sunset over st.kilda, we were having a celebration for our mums birthdays and it was a year ago they had passed so our waiter was so considerate it made it even better. We will be back to have a proper meal as the menu looked extensive and yummy

It's a busy restaurant for a weekday dinner, bit pricey but worth it for special occasions. Friendly staff , food was excellent. Small quantities though so think as experience:-)

Good Japanese food if want a premium experience. The platters are good for about 5 or 6 to try. They are pretty filling too. Plenty variety of Sake and delicious cocktails.
