One of the favourites to go to for good Chinese food. On the more expensive side but it's worth it. The shredded beef in peking sauce is a must have usually quite tender (last night it was abit on the chewy side but otherwise still good), the scallops in snow peas the scallops were perfectly tender and they are quite large scallops. And we always get duck pancakes

Old Beijing delivers an authentic taste of Chinese cuisine in the heart of the city. Upon my visit, I indulged in their renowned truffle dumplings, a delightful blend of savory flavors encased in delicate wrappers. Each bite was a symphony of taste, earning its place as a must-try dish. The kung pao chicken offered a fiery kick balanced by the sweetness of the peppers and the crunch of the peanuts, showcasing the restaurant's mastery of flavor. The beef, clams, and fish dishes were equally impressive, with each ingredient cooked to perfection and bursting with freshness. The attentive service and cozy ambiance further enhanced the dining experience. Old Beijing truly lives up to its reputation, earning its high rating as a go-to destination for authentic Chinese cuisine.

This place truly evokes memories of the amazing food in China. The dumplings, with a generous amount of soup inside, are exceptionally delicious. My favorite dishes were the wagyu beef cubes and the little crab meat wrapped in a crispy pastry. The presentation of the food is impeccable. They also offer intimate private rooms suitable for larger groups. The cost was reasonable, and we would certainly revisit when we are in Melbourne again.

Reservation is a must. Great place to settle your Chinese meal here. The Peking duck and spicy fried chicken cubes are really their signature dishes. Highly recommended

the food was suprisingly so good!

duck - duck was crispy and tender, the sauce and veges wrapped with the popiah skin was yummy

steam egg, sweet & sour pork & long bean - so flavorful and hearty

xiao long bao - flavorful and hot! the meat was not too salty and the soup was so yummy.

fried rice - SO FLAVORFUL.

apologies for the lack of different words as they were all really just yummy

the portions are all huge as well - although there’s no ranging sizes.

would recommend coming here if you’re craving for GOOD chinese food as we have gone two times during our trip to Melbourne.

Food is delicious, service is good, nice presentation. Reasonable price.

But the temperature in the building was cold last night , suggests to turn air-con higher . The food is getting cold too quick.

Really good and solid food. Good service and attentive staff too. Salt and pepper flounder was delicious, salty and crispy with tender flesh, and pretty good size for the price too. Stir fried okra was super yummy too. Ox tongue was a bit dry so not the best but not bad. Crab roe and soft tofu was exquisite. Highly recommend 👌

OK so the food here is just gorgeous and the teas and drinks, the tea I had was the tastiest thing I've ever put in my mouth. But what stands above all else was our server, his name was Michael. Michael is one of the best servers we've ever had & we eat out a LOT. Just the nicest and most professional service, he made some recommendations and to us and they were amazing choices. Made us feel so comfortable, his warm and welcoming persona, he definately deserves a raise :) Highly recommend this place for food and service! And try the soft shell crab!!

We absolutely fell in love with this restaurant from the moment we walked in. The decor is old school Chinese in a very cool and authentic way. The menu is extensive with plenty of vegetarian options available including plant based items.

There were two people in my party. For appetisers we ordered the chili chicken wontons, the poached vegetable dumplings and the king crab meat salad tarts. For our main meal we shared the xo prawn fried rice and chili prawns. All dishes were fantastic, but the dish of the night for both of us was the xo fried rice, for us it is the best fried rice we have had in Melbourne.

Flavourful, filling and friendly service.

Old Beijing did not disappoint from service at the door, to ease of ordering, dishes being brought out very quickly and with high quality.

The peking duck three ways was delicious, a big hit across our table. Dumpling dishes were all very nice. All the dishes were flavourful, without being too salty or oily, which we have found common in many other Chinese dishes.

Great ambience in the restaurant, very clean, lovely decor. Service was also great; wait staff were very attentive and ensured we were well looked after. We would have loved to see more fruity choices for dessert, but the savoury menu was very extensive.

Overall a very fulfilling dinner!

Yum cha and shanghai dumplings (black truffle) are very nice. This would be our regular from now on in the CBD.

Our first visit here was back in 2021, in the midst of the infamous chaotic Melbourne lockdowns and easing of restrictions. Spent time to catch up with a good friend from uni with his family, ordering many different dishes for our evening dinner feast.

The Peking duck (3 course) and free-range white chicken with ginger sauce were super succulent and would be considered one of the highlight dishes of the night.

Wonderful restaurant that doesn't skimp on the experience. The staff are very attentive and make sure that you're taken care of. The Peking Duck was fantastic, though a bit short on the pancake. Sweet and sour pork was superb, and the honey chicken was tender and wonderfully crispy and sweet. Great spot for dining out with friends.

Love their steamed yumcha dishes! Repeat order for truffle xlb, siew mai, and har gow.

Better book if you plan to go on weekends otherwise you might be turned away!

This was my second visit to the restaurant. I came with my family on Tuesday night during school holidays. It was very busy that night. We couldn’t fault the service that we received. Food was delivered in timely order and the waitresses were so polite and helpful. The XLB and pan fried buns are the best I’ve had in a Chinese restaurant. Peking duck is also very good. The menu is very extensive and we will definitely be back to try more dishes.

Nice variety of Chinese food! Peking duck is great: thin pancakes, crispy golden skin, juicy meat and sauce that is sweet and tangy (but not too sweet like some places). Other dishes are very flavoursome. And the mushrooms hotpot is one of my new favourite Chinese dish..yum!! Sichuan dishes are quite salty and vinegary. While a love salt and vinegar dishes, for Sichuan I prefer spice, umami and less sauce.

Cool atmosphere and decor also (reminded me of my visits to Beijing Peking Duck restaurants in Beijing). Just beware it can get hot in the restaurant, so dress cool
