We were a walk in late in the afternoon- the premises was busy and staff very friendly and accommodating. We chose the Feed Me #1 - The Classics - it certainly did not disappoint all kudos to the kitchen staff great presentation and great flavours. Yes the music is loud nearly an OH&S issue.

We ordered Hervey Bay Scallops, Fried squid, Popcorn Prawns and Soft-Shell Crab Fried Wild Rice for the night. They all taste fantastic, especially the Scallop we end up order second round 😂.
The staffs are very friendly and polite. The atmosphere are great too.

Miang Of Cold Smoked Salmon was tasty, Kingfish Sashimi was fresh, and had a tangy flavour, lots of fresh ingredients, Massaman Curry Of Coconut-Braised Beef had lots of tender soft beef, was not dry, very juicy, and lots of flavours of herbs, lots of sauce to put on the rice, Twice-Cooked BBQ Lamb & Spring Onion was a very big serving, can easily pull off the bone, meat was tender, pickled cabbage was refreshing. Service was very quick, staff checked-in several times to see if we were ok, and were very friendly. Was seated downstairs in the basement, atmosphere was relaxed, not too casual. Lighting was dimmed.

The service was exceptional, and the restaurant had a vibrant atmosphere. We particularly savored the Kingfish sashimi and fried calamari. While the pad thai could use some enhancement, the dessert was just average. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would consider returning in the future

Chin Chin on Flinders Lane in Melbourne is our go-to spot, whether for a laid-back evening or a special occasion. The ambiance is always buzzing with energy, and the staff go above and beyond to make every visit memorable.

We love how accommodating they are with seating preferences; we often opt for a spot at the bar, and they always ensure our request is met. Speaking of the staff, the guys (male and female) at the door sets the tone for exceptional service, while the lady behind the bar, with her bright red lipstick, addedd a touch of flair to the experience. On this occasion she guided us through the menu with expert recommendations, including the mouthwatering specials.

The food at Chin Chin is a symphony of flavors. Each dish boasts a perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and sour notes that keep us coming back for more. Personal favorites include the barramundi and pork salad, a delightful explosion of taste, and the sensational Cod special that left us craving for more. As for desserts, the Vietnamese coffee and sorbet are simply divine. And for drinks, the cocktails are grouse!

The atmosphere at Chin Chin is unbeatable. It's lively, yet intimate, making it perfect for any occasion. Whether you're catching up with friends or celebrating a milestone, Chin Chin sets the stage for an unforgettable evening.

We highly recommend Chin Chin to anyone looking for a culinary adventure in Melbourne. The combination of delectable food, impeccable service, and vibrant atmosphere makes it a must-visit destination. Go ahead, indulge your senses, and experience the magic of Chin Chin for yourself.

Inventive Asian food with a strong Thai slant. Interesting blend of Asian tastes with western cooking techniques. Would recommend the King Fish and Twice Cooked Short Rib. The crab omelette was of good standard although the introduction of a salad made it interesting.

Service was attentive and not intrusive. Energetic vibe that allows for conversation and a casual date.

I dropped in and got a seat at the bar. If there's more than one of you, make a booking because this place is pumping. I really enjoyed my BBQ lamb, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Two of our friends recommend this restaurant (one from the US and one who lives here in Melbourne). We are visiting Melbourne for the first time so couldn’t pass it up. It was great. We stopped by for lunch.

We had three “little something’s” and one of the stir fry, rice and noodles . I took pictures but only after we ate half of each of the three entrees. We were starving so my apologies for the bad photos. They were all great (corn fritters , tuna and king fisher). The corn fritters were our favorite.

The pad Thai was very good but was too much for us with the other three dishes for lunch. We think we that four of the little something’s would have been enough. We are not big people… to provide some context .

We highly recommend this restaurant if you like Asian food .

I went here twice in my 5 day stay. Got the hottest dish in the menu (jungle curry) and it was out of this world. Also, kingfish app was 10/10. I would skip Brussels. Service was solid. Some dishes came out quick and others took a while. Vibe is unmatched. So good. Great drinks list too.

The food is incredible and drink as well. The service was super good and kind. The restaurant is a little loud, but still possible to chat.

High expectations matched & exceeded at Chin Chin lunchtime. Although we only ordered & shared their Butter Chicken with rice & side order of Roti bread, it was exceptional - service was super-welcoming & perfectly attentive enough, & it's really a very stylishly appointed place. It was around half full & nicely comfortable, & seating can be tabled or bar stool type.
I suspect it's popularity will remain high if what we experienced is maintained at Chin Chin, and that the place will absolutely rock later during evening dinner times.
Worthy of the hype with a nicely varied & different menu, very highly recommended.

Pleasant evening in Melbourne for Chin Chin! We enjoyed several fresh and delicious dishes, each with their own character and distinct flavours. Relax and vibrant atmosphere with ample to choose from. Good for groups or a more intimate dinner. Yum and fun!

Five stars at this Melbourne institution. Charming, fun and most importantly- delicious.

Fantastic service with timely attention despite it always being busy. Staff at the bar seem like they’re having fun and enjoying themselves.

Food was great as usual. The martabak spring roll is unique and blends Indonesian and Vietnamese elements extremely well. All the curries are great, we got the goat curry which was probably not the best of the bunch though but still great. Fantastic drinks, well balanced and not too sweet.

Atmosphere is quite loud, not the place if you’re looking for a conversation though - kind of need to shout over the music and the buzz.

Took my father in law here as his first meal in Australia (visiting from Canada).

We were all extremely impressed with the combination of flavors and the service. We have been to Chin Chin in Sydney and loved it. Happy to say the Melbourne Chin Chin was just as good. A truly sublime dinner!

10/10 we will 100% be coming back!

Truly delicious food, love the variety of GF options on the menu. Portions are generous and hearty. Will sit inside next time as the patio lacks character and is across from a parking entrance vs the cool vibrant decor of the inside of the gorgeous bright Higson Building. Will def return.

Loved the Kingfish sashimi and Salmon wrapped in Betel leaf in particular. The Classics set menu is good value. Enjoyed the Riesling and the Viognier Marsanne blend wines (both South Australian).

Enjoyed the meal overall, my fav was the kingfish sashimi. The other dishes were full of flavor, though tends to be on the saltier side. Music was definitely blasting loud and it can get a little cramped waiting around for your table. Upon ordering, food arrived to the table quite fast.
