From the moment we arrived at the restaurant until we were seated, the staff provided excellent service. I want to give a special shout-out to the managers, Keith and Clement. They both provided the professional services and caring. We ordered the Peking duck, and it was absolutely fantastic. The Peking duck was served with various sauces, spring onions, and cucumbers, creating a delightful combination. The skin was both crispy and juicy. Additionally, the steamed chicken was exceptionally tender and delicious. The dry scallop beansprouts is fresh and yummy. We look forward to dining here more often in the future

New favorite Yum Cha spot in Melbourne

Food is good with GREAT variety.
Lots of classics here and most other places don't do anymore.

The restaurant operates in session, so they are very strict on finish times understandably.
But because of this, all the food is hot and arrives pretty quickly. Dessert appears at the right time.
You can put in special orders if you are missing favorites and it will arrive promptly.

There is a underground car parked as well as a parking lot, no need to fight for spaces.

The cart ladies can be a little loud and pushy on "suggestions" but I guess that part of the experience 😅

Golden Dragon Palace in Templestowe sounds like a great place for authentic Hong Kong-style yum cha (dim sum).

The wide selection and reasonable prices, with an average cost of $40 per person, make it a standout choice for a yum cha restaurant in Melbourne's eastern area.

Been coming here for years, both yum Cha and dinner. Usually it’s with my family, but sometimes with friends. The decor and atmosphere is opulent - you can tell they’ve spent a lot of money and effort on it, and it’s great! Food is top notch - the best yum Cha in Melbourne in my opinion (a worthy replacement for the now closed Taipan). Dinner is awesome too but certainly on the pricier side. Heaps of parking , but make sure to book yum Cha well in advance - it’s a full house every weekend for two sittings (11:00am and 1:15pm)

A staff named John was helpful and courteous. He knew what we wanted exactly and recommended us seasonal dishes, explaining their suitability for our palates. The red wine “Pinot Noir” he chose for us was perfect and matched well with the dishes we ordered. The meal was exceedingly delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Have been visiting this place for many years, the food was delicious and traditional, the vibe is 80's/90's yum cha in Hong Kong. Personally I couldn't think of any places in Melbourne better than here. If you like traditional Hong Kong dim sum, here is the place.

Price is reasonable, this time we had so much food, 2 of us couldn't finish them all, we paid $114 for total and I think that's a good price!

Har graw
Siu mai
Chives dumplings (steamed)
Char siu Cheung fun
Chicken feet
Beef offal
Bean curd skin roll with pork and prawn
Steamed beef balls with bean curd skin
Steamed brown sugar sponge cake
Egg tarts

P.S. service was attentive and quick, also very friendly, most of them speak Hong Kong Cantonese.

Absolutely loved the Yum Cha at Golden Dragon Palace!

Note that you must book to ensure you get there for one of their two seatings (11:30-1:00 or 1:30-3:00).

The variety of dishes is great and every single dish we had tasted amazing!

The service was also great — all staff were very friendly and happy to explain the ingredients of each dish for us.

The interior is also very beautiful with some remarkable wooden carvings.

We paid $120 for 2 people, which I find very pricey for yum cha, but we left feeling happy and satisfied, so we’ll definitely be back!

One of the best yum cha in Melbourne. Very high quality food and fantastic service. We enjoyed all our dishes particularly prawn and chives dumplings, egg tarts, and tripe. Personally found the seasoning on Lotus leaf rice, chicken feet and spare ribs was a bit light, would've like more flavour. Mango pudding was a bit disappointing as it was very gelatinous and artificial tasting. Staff are very professional, clearing tables well and smartly dressed in uniform.

Had dinner on Valentines Day and it was a great evening. The food was exceptional, the service was prompt and everything was taken away at the right time. Price was $60-$80. It was good considering the quality of food and service.

If you are craving for yum cha in eastern suburb, the dim sum here is heavenly especially the scallops. There’s a reason this place has been busy over the years. Highly recommend to book in advanced especially on the weekend.

Fantastic experience.
I've had yum cha at places near by and this was far superior.
Excellent customer service, and all food was served hot.

I would highly recommend Golden Dragon Palace.

Great dimsum (yum-cha) delivered on a cart for your selection instead of ordering off of a menu as seems to be the norm post-covid. Usual variety of dishes, but on the whole, delicious. And the servers even smile. What a change from the grumpy servers back home.

We’ve had a wedding dinner here, lunch and yum Cha. The food is always authentic and delicious. Yum Cha here is one of the best in Melbourne. The steam dumplings, fried squid and salted egg custard bun are one of my favorites to order here. The staff are also friendly and accommodating and there’s lots of parking underground. Highly recommend trying this place, just make sure you book 1-2 weeks in advance for the yum Cha because it gets really busy and booked out.

Certainly no place like this one.

This has to be the biggest yum cha I have been, excellent service. The food was delicious, not too salty!

The best part of this place that no other place offer is custard tofu with ginger. This is the Dessert you really want to eat to cleanse your pallet!

Thank you. We will be back again.

Lovely banquet style food here for dinner. Also during the day they do the best yumcha in Melbourne. Make sure to get a booking.
