Great location. Easy to get to and heaps of room for customers to sit. The owner and the works are polite, friendly and helpful. The food came out quick and was delicious. Reasonably priced. The restaurant decor is outdated and toilets are on the top floor. A bit inconvenient if you are pregnant or disable. Great selection of Asian deserts. Highly recommend.

Love the food and location of this place.
I literally order the same thing from here every time; the Fried Kway Teow, Salt and pepper Tofu, and the fish.
Only down side is that they charge the same for a vegetarian Kway Teow as they would with seafood in it. Doesn't make sense.

Authentic food with reasonable prices! We came here after our meeting and we tried a variety of different things here, from honey prawn, beef skewers, laksa, fried rice, to dessert. We absolutely loved everything! I really enjoyed the honey prawn as it’s crunchy outside and juicy inside. They added a lot of fresh honey as a glaze for the prawn, which was absolutely delicious!

Came here with some friends and had the most devine beef randang. Amazing flavour with just the right amount of heat, plenty though to notice it without spoiling that amazing flavour. The roti was perfectly cooked both pliant and flaky and was perfect to pick up the beef pieces. The beef was soooo soft it fell apart when touched. The only niggle is they charged me extra to pay with my card, nearly $8 extra on an $80 bill for our table. This isn't allowed. I didn't realise until later on.

Dined here for the first time last evening.
Our group of 4 were all super impressed.
From the moment we entered we were made to feel incredibly welcome.
Food suggestions were made and we were not disappointed - each shared course was delicious.
We arrived just before 6pm and the restaurant quickly filled.
The atmosphere was fantastic!

Even though they were very busy the level of service and attentiveness of each staff member was to be commended.

Highly recommended.
We will definitely be back soon.

Less than 40’ seafood Laksa at home!
I love Laksa soup but not always I am in the mood to prepare my own one. Today I decided to try, for the first time (Uber eats) Chinta ria soul and couldn’t be happier. The food was at my place in less than 40’ (maybe because I am living around the corner…) there was soup for my whole neighbourhood (but I didn’t share, safety first!) tasty, spicy and flavoured. I can’t wait to go to dine in this place. Thanks for my lovely dinner.

Came here on a whim with my dear friends from the UK who are world travellers and great diners. They were keen for Malaysian food and we happened to walk past Chinta Ria. This cosy little restaurant is warm and inviting with lovely decor that invites you to settle in for some good food and exceptional service.
For entree John had chicken satay (2 serves) with satay sauce and Bex and I each had the duck rolls which I could describe presenting like spring rolls. There were 4 nice pastries filled with shredded duck with julienned carrots and silver thread noodles that were then snap-fried. Nice although a little traditional for me.
For main course, I had the lamb red curry that was tenderly cooked diced loin of lamb in curry sauce with potatoes and coconut milk. John had the crab which was a special and said it was the most delicious he'd ever had. On the Chef's Specials it was called Kam Meong Soft Shell Crabs - lightly battered soft shell crabs wok-tossed woth butter, egg, floss, dried shrimps, curry paste and chilli. I don't eat seafood but had a taste and it was superb. Even I'd order it. I can remember what Bex ordered but she said it was very tasty and quite rich.
The wine and beer list was good so we ordered a bottle of bubbles to celebrate. At $32, it was pretty reasonably priced and not a bad taste.
Chinta Ria is centrally located at the northern end of Acland Street. Even on a Monday night there was good patronage with most tables full. After we were able to stroll down the street and find a bar for some cocktails.
Staff were lovely and although made a few minor mistakes were quick to rectify and eager to please.
Note: wheelchair friendly (although a little tight), kid friendly, parking is hard in the area and you'll pay around $5 an hour or a maximum of $14 for a day. Parking inspectors are quick so maek sure you watch the clock.

Great food here but can be sketchy on the street and a bit grim inside. I especially love the kuoy toaw and salt pepper tofu (both can be GF and vegetarian)

Needed something to top up lunch so popped into @ChintaRiaSoul for some Malaysian entrees:

(4) Duck rolls - shredded duck with julienned carrots & silver thread noodles wrapped in  pastry then snap-fried.

(2) Satay Chicken - Skewered marinated chicken accompanied by our own spicy peanut sauce.

Happy they could squeeze me in for a late lunch and the wait wasn't long before the food was served.

Lovely golden brown crunchy spring rolls encasing a delicious filling and enhanced with a dip into the hoison sauce. The chicken skewers are tender and have a lovely peanut satay sauce which is excellent. Lovely meal dining outside in the beautiful weather along bustling Ackland St.

Been here 5 times recently (and climbing). New favourite restaurant. Always very busy mid-week.

Service is fast. Low-key decor.

The food is seriously good. And the prices are very reasonable. It isn’t a wonder lots of people go.

Chinta Ria is still going strong serving delicious Malaysian cuisine. So fresh, so flavoursome, so damn good and they have been an institution for what must be 15 years. I had a vermicelli noodles dish called “sing mai” - with a wedge of lemon, chicken thighs, prawns, light chilli paste, fresh lettuce, dried onion garnish, shallots, it was fantastic. And at $13.90 I ask you ... where do you get a main for $13.90 these days? It’s a Must go.

Booked for a family dinner and the staff made us feel super accommodated and welcome. The best laksa in melbourne possibly and the crispy noodles were delicious.

Very authentic food and people.
