Isla Gorge lookout

This is just a short walk or drive of the main highway and presents a great lookout. Jaggered landscape that stretches far and wide. It was a great little break

On the way back from Miles we decided to check out the view at Isla Gorge. It was beautiful and could only imagine it when raining how amazing it would look with waterfalls. There is a walk we didnt have time to do. Toilets & shaded place to eat.

We were on our way north saw a small little sign mentioning the gorge. Upon looking out the window a clearing emerged and the immensity of the gorge showed itself. That brief glimpse ensured that we turned off the road towards the lookout. Just a short 1 km drive down a dirt road had us at the lookout and camp ground. Even though the road is dirt a small low clearance 2wd vehicle could make the trek. The camp ground is simple but adequate. There is a toilet and covered tables. The gorge itself is absolutely amazing. The lookout is surrounded by the gorge with amazing views all around. There is a walking track to see different areas of the gorge. You may want decent shoes and be careful on the crumbly sandstone as you can loose your footing.

Great spot to either camp or stop for a break. The entrance road is a little rough for a 2 wheel drive car, but the smallest of cars can get in here no probs, just slow down for the bumps, it is not very far in, but the views are so worth it. Great spot!

Great place to pull up and look at the view. Toilets are available and there's a tap but boil the water before you drink it!
