King Koi sushi bar & restaurant

A wonderful little Japanese restaurant serving beautiful sushi and nigri, delectable karaage and other small plates alongside substantial and delicious mains like tonkatsu ramen and noodle dishes. The Bento boxes are also great. Overall good value, the entree and small plates are generous and the prices not too steep.

Service is charming, the vibe is quiet and reserved in an unassuming dining space with some bright abstract art on one wall.

Overall a pleasant and bloody delicious experience! Have been before and had to come back. Will come back again as soon as we're in Ocean Grove again!

We’ve eaten here a few times now and it always impresses. The food is amazing! Such good value for money. Can highly recommend the Waygu Beef Bento box - marinated beef, sashimi, tempura and rice. Yumbo! Also great are the Chicken Laksa and the Seafood (Kaisen) Ramen. Fab service from the family that run King Koi too. Grab a seat on the balcony overlooking the main street and watch the world go by while feasting on delicious Japanese.

This is the best Asian food in Ocean Grove and the surrounding area. . Love the sushi rolls and he black pepper chicken don!

We had an amazing meal for $19. It was very filling and tasty.

Had a late lunch here during our stay in the area. The chicken curry bento was yum! It was a late Thurs arvo and there weren't a lot of customers so we got our orders pretty quickly.

We ordered a serve of pork gyoza (8), garlic prawns and rice. We got it takeaway and took it home (10 mins away). Was very fresh, cooked to perfection (veges included) and generous portions. Prawns were huge (and were an even amount which made sharing easy) 😁 The sauce was delicious, and not too much or overpowering so were still able to taste the prawns and vegetables. Photo is of half the order as we shared between 2. Service was friendly, restaurant seemed clean and bright.

We’ve been here quite a few times (takeaway orders including delivery about 7x times and dine in twice) and have been really impressed with the quality- fresh, well prepared and not overly sauced so that the flavours of the vegetables and seafood come through. It’s our go to takeaway place now and we’ve never been disappointed. We’ve dined there a couple of times and of course it’s even more delicious as it’s slightly fresher than when you take it home. Also think it’s reasonably priced and we enjoy supporting this local business. Favourite local. We usually get rice dishes or bento boxes, and entrees but just started on their noodle stir fries and weren’t disappointed either.

Have only had takeaway so far, but taste and service is great (don't know what people are on about in other reviews?)! Particularly enjoyed the garlic prawns!!

It is always a privilege to eat here. I would seriously put them up against every and any Japanese restaurant in Australia. From the melt in mouth wagu to the light and crispy gyoza , perfect rice and sashimi cuts that can only be described as pure. Never hungry nor disappointed afterwards. Throw it down with a cold Yebisu and let the gratitude come.
