Piping Hot Chicken and Burger Grill

The Vanessa (house special) beef burger: divine. So, so good.
KFC burger: too sweet for my taste, but the person who ate it enjoyed it.
Both burgers were of very generous size.
Chips and gravy (small): exactly what you want from chips and gravy!

What a wonderful place! While I was enjoying my succulent Vanessa Jenkins burger (the house special, highly recommended) my eyes roamed the rock themed decorations, taking a trip down musical memory lane through books, magazines and posters, and loving the other whimsical decor (see pics). We were only visiting, but I'll definitely be back one day to sit with a beer and a burger and soak up the American diner atmosphere.

The Piping Hot Chicken Shop is iconic. I've been going there for ten years and their menu and general vibe is as good as ever. Laid back, quirky decorations and great music fill this shop. The food is frankly legendary. I can't help but stop by for their chips, cheese and gravy from time to time.

Well what a surprise 👌 Truly a gem 💎 ! I didn't buy any food as I was there to enjoy Live Music , that's right Live Music !!! Local Musicians showing off their talent 🙏 Great community of music love all ages!

A local institution in the Main Street of Ocean Grove. We have been coming here for years and are never disappointed.
Breakfast is great whether it’s egg and bacon or a burger. Big serves. Coffee is good too. Our visit on the weekend for pick up takeaway chook we noticed a nice new outdoor alfresco area on the street which will be great for lunch
But you must venture inside for a look around. The walls and ceilings are covered with memorabilia collections from the past decades and the furniture is retro and very cool. I think this was the very first place to get chips and gravy it has been the fav snack for locals after a day in the surf for the last 30 year’s
With covid rules lifting Live Music is coming back and this is such an great place to see local and international artists like Lloyd Spiegel playing. Night falls and the tables come out and it turns into a blues club type atmosphere. They are licensed and serve certain spirits wine and beer. It doesn’t hold a lot of people so be quick to get tickets when a gig comes to town. Fun place to visit

Chicken schnitzel burger is sensational, but everything on the menu looks good. Good coffee & vanilla slice. Service is friendly, just like your a local. Cool atmosphere a cross between diner & surf club!

Excellent service and real food.
They seemed delighted to cater for our different dietry needs. I had an Angus beef burger with bacon without the bun.... Delicious. My partner had a "Save the cow" veggie burger. I don't know how she eats that stuff but she really enjoyed it!

This chicken shop will forever be my favourite place to eat. Since my childhood I've been coming here and the hot chips + gravy never disappoint. The atmosphere is like a blast in the past, and the location being 5 minutes from the beach just sums it all up. Huge thank you to the staff and locals who have made this place so special.

Tried the chicken wing with the hottest sauce (called the impossible wing), and it tasted amazing. It actually had a good level of heat to it. Most places that serve hot wings don't offer this high level of heat, but this was great.

Amazing big burgers!
My husband is coeliac and it can be hard to find gluten free options. We saw a review online of Piping Hot Chicken so we went there and asked the usual questions about their gluten free options etc. The lady was super knowledgeable and told us how they prepare it and what items were gluten free.
We got 2 burgers, their signature one and the bacon cheeseburger. The fries were also gluten free 🙌
They were delicious, generous in size and the chips had good seasoning. My husband was impressed with the gluten free bun as well, which doesn't happen often!!

Amazing diner. Highly reccomend for anyone coming through ocean grove. Really fun environment for eating in but amazing food for a good price if your just getting takeaway.

Had the their signature burger and it was awesome! Have tried lots of places in Melbourne and nothing has even come close to the best burger I ever had which was the Queenstown furg burger but this was def by far the second best, best I have had in Melbourne anyway. Also great vibe.

This place is by far one of my favourite places to get a special lunch at. On the special occasion I always grab a small chips and gravy, large if sharing and i genuinely feel like I’m in the celestial realm.

Best Burgers in town! The staff were lovely and welcoming. I will definitely be back!

Great little take away shop. So many gluten free options! For a place so filled with expensive shops! This will be a nice change and something to cure your hangover on a Sunday morning!

Great, retro atmosphere with awesome food. Had the KFC burger which was crazy good and a decent size too. Staff were good also. People watching bench along the window for those inclined and loos out back, I could stay all day.

This little retro shop has a great atmosphere with awesome burgers but best of all are their live performances. It’s up close and personnel, a great night out for anyone who enjoys good music and a tasty meal.

The Piping Hot Chicken Shop is legendary. Fantastic free range authentic chicken, the best Choc and Macadamia fudge - smooth and crunchy all at the same time. All this and great coffee, beer and wine.
I want to personally thank David for hosting our May meeting of the Ocean Grove Business Association, Legend. A productive and enjoyable meeting.

2023 - Did I mention Gluten Free? Still great place for a coffee, luch or dinner or an excellent quality live event.

Had the PB burger and it was one of the best burgers I've had in a while. Buffalo wings were spot on, skin was crispy and the meat was cooked to perfection, just the slightest hint of pink in the middle so not overcooked.

Medium was spicier than expected, which worked fine for us, but those who struggle with spice might find it a challenge.

Will have to visit again for sure
