Ocean View Fish & Chips Shop

We were in the area during new year holidays and looking for decent fish and chip. Decided for this after some google search.

The shop itself is small and was very busy when we were there but it was moving fairly quickly.

It was a bit of wait but not too bad. And the meal was good so we thought we made a good choice!

I don't know what is up with all the negative feedback, but my personal experience is wow! The fish is fresh, as in caught today & served today! The batter is soft, and not too crispy. Fish is filleted to perfection, NO blood through the flesh that leaves it with horrible brown streaks & horrible ammonia taste, Yours are perfect white flesh fillets guys!!

Your chips had some bad ratings, so I decided to order minimal chips.
And again they were fantastic chips! They were soft inside which means cooked spot on, and not too crispy outside, I love the golden colour too, chips were perfect guys! Yep I thought $10 was pricey for a piece of flake, but the end result was worth it.

For my fish & chips order today, AAA+++ and they were done in 15mins, like they said over the phone. Service also spot on! I seen you guys working super hard in that shop, so I take my hat off to you all. Keep up the great food & service!

When it comes to good food, I will always leave good feedback, and vice versa with bad food & service.

Top notch fish n chips and with minimum wait. Very generous servings and the fish is so fresh it falls out the batter. This place is going to go off in summer. If you craving old fashioned beach fish n chips, this is your place. Such a good atmosphere also if you dine in. Special mention with the calamari, this is the best menu item. The family pack also is great value.

I had a fantastic experience at this fish and chips shop! The food was delicious, with the fish being perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The chips were also great, golden and just the right amount of salt. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. The staff was friendly and provided excellent service. I highly recommend this place for anyone craving a classic fish and chips meal. You won't be disappointed!

Ignore the Captain Ramrod review. He was clearly having a bad day and felt entitled to something. He was abusive to the staff and felt entitled to a discount even though everyone else was more than happy to wait for a great feed.
Yes the wait was a bit long but it was a hot summers day, so many people were down at the beach, it was a great night for fish and chips. Of course there was going to be a long wait and the shop even has a sign up that says they can give an estimate for time but can’t guarantee how long they’ll be but they’ll do their best.
These guys did their best. I’ve never seen such hard workers. They were smashing away the orders. They had stacks and stacks of orders. Online, phone and in person. They excelled. Considering at any one time there were 40-50 people outside this shop they did amazing to get the orders done in about 1.5 hours. They very clearly stated when you ordered that there would be a very long wait and anyone who did not heed that warning should have understood they’d need to be patient.
The food was excellent. Great chips. Crispy outside and soft inside. Great flake and dim sims. Overall I’d certainly go back even if I had to wait 2 hours. I let them know when I picked up my order that they were doing an excellent job. The owner is clearly very passionate about their business and I loved their attitude!
Definitely worth getting these fish and chips but order early and maybe just relax with a beer or two whilst waiting.

Excellent Fish and Chips at a reasonable price. The wait wasn't very long because we were the only group there.

The owner let use try all the different types of dips available.

Toilet is available beside the car park.

Excellent range and extremely tasty, visited on Saturday afternoon, fairly long queues, but food was ready when promised, worth ordering ahead, staff are friendly and knowledgeable

They’re the best fish and chip shop between Ocean grove and Barwon heads! Crispy chips, fresh fish and the best lamb souvlaki!

The shop was great. Value for money was awesome, with a family pack available. The teller was helpful with how much extra food would be needed for a larger family. She didn't try to upsell. Overall great place.

Amazing fish and chips. Made food for 10 people so quickly and everything was great. The flakes were fresh and perfectly crispy. Great potato cakes, dim sims and calamari. Would have loved more chicken salt but other than that everything was perfect. Highly recommend

One of the best Fish and Chip place in Ocean Grove. The Butter fish is a must try. Walk down to the beach to enjoy your meal. It's a ritual whenever we have friends visiting us. Waiting time during busy/ holidays period can be up to 45 minutes, so call in advanced to place your order. Parking spaces are available behind the shop.

One of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! Not too oily or mainly batter, the fish portion was huge for a cheap price, and the chips and gravy were perfect. Outdoor seating is really nice and wholesome vibes. Service did take a little bit long but hardly noticeable

i got a lamb souvlaki with cheese , literally the best souvlaki i’ve ever had in my life. staff were lovely

Food came out within the estimated 10 minute time. Chips and flake were fresh, large and very tasty. The dim sim and calamari were a little chewy. Potato cake was very crunchy and a fair size, plus the unspoken extra one on a family order. Worth your time and money for a quick family feed!
