Best pizzas we've had in ages. Perfect crust and plenty of toppings. Started with a garlic pizza, very cheesy, then Sweet Potato and Prosciutto, BBQ Meat Lovers and a Barry (you'll have to go to find out what that is besides delicious). After that we were nearly in a pizza coma. Plenty of other choices on the Cafe menu, will definitely be going back, great destination for a Sunday drive.

What a great gem of a random find. Stunning sandstone building and the food to match. Friendly staff and wonderful setting and the price I felt was a bargain. Fantastic

We ordered bacon and eggs on sourdough. Steak sandwich and a cheese and tomato toasted sandwich. Absolutely awesome. Had to wait a while but it was hot and fresh. Recommended to everyone out that way

Stumbled upon that place while exploring the area. We went for some wine at a winery, then I was taking the long way back home just for fun. The food was good with generous portions. The service was also good.

With bell birds chirping in the background, this cafe’s terrace has that special sense of place that makes you feel “away from it all”- best place for a chilled weekend breakfast, or pizza.

A true forgotten gem of Sydney a must visit for anyone visiting Sydney or even just driving past. with the building dating back to the 1930's.

Arrogance & incompetent management combined with terrible overpriced food.

It’s so sad to see the new owners push the Stonehouse over the cliff.

Here’s my experiences…

In August we placed a phone order for 3x pizza’s for dinner on Friday night. We were told 45min wait. We arrive there at 45min. Although it wasn’t busy we waited a CRAZY 2.5hrs for the pizza’s. I have no idea why. The new owner was on duty watching over the younger staff. There was no apology for the massive wait. I put it down to only being in being under new management (perhaps it was open 3 to 4 weeks, I think).

Time moved on, now Sunday lunch 10/9/23 we placed a phone order. We asked if they still have the burger/Chip/can of drink combo and was told yes. We ordered 2x Hamburger and 2 Chicken Stitzel Burger combos.

We were told order would be ready in20min. We arrived at store 25min after order. Again we waited over 45min. Again there was NO ONE else in the store, and no other orders being prepared.

When paying we were not offered any apology for the delays, and we were over charged for separate burger, chips, drink. When we asked the staff who sought advise from the manager and they amended the combo but said the drink was extra. Although we confirmed combo included drinks with the price at time of order we were told that it doesn’t now… Geez’s I knew we waited a long time but was not aware prices fluctuated that much.

The food was disgusting. None of the family finished their meals. Chips were soggy and not even cooked, well actually it looks like ¼ of them were from the previous order and double cooked, so they were cooked but dry.

We ordered two Chicken Stitzel burgers however were given two grilled chicken burgers. We found out when we got home. I’ve tried to call Stonehouse 4 times (to advise them of the error and pass on this feedback directly, however I got “You have reached the message bank of a private number, BEEP” AWEOME!

The hamburger meat was more like cheap sausage meat. Certainly not what I’d expect for $70 lunch order.

Please note paying by EFT now incurs a surcharge, which we were not told until after paying.

While waiting for our food we have noticed the manager was on duty. We observed that the young staff seemed to whisper and ask questions amongst themselves opposed to seeking answers from the manager. It looked like they were scared to ask the manager. Pity, as these sorts of job should be a supportive environment that teaches young adults during their early employment years. People make it or break it.

Get this. Someone came in for a simple sausage sandwich, it wasn’t on the menu so the person asked if they could make one. The cashier didn’t know what to charge so the manager advised $10! Ouch I would have driven to Bunnings Dural for that price.

This place is terrible since being sold (under new management). Burgers are terrible, chips are soggy and under cooked. No more combo pricing and now you get charged for paying by card.
