This tour exceeded all expectations. It was thoroughly informative and interesting. To see the machines operating was truly amazing. The volunteers and community who own and operate this are to be congratulated. The wool industry certainly was the commodity of its day, producing so much wealth for the country, employing and supporting thousands of people, sustaining these outback towns

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this visit, I just saw that it had great reviews and was on our way to Charleville.

The tour was fantastic, really informative and engaging. The fact that the community had pulled together to get this site operational again for tourism, just really warmed my heart. It was evident how important this site is to the community and local economy. We certainly spent a night in town at a local hotel and it was well worth it.

We were the only family on our particular tour, but I really encourage other families to add this to their itinerary, it was just as good as the Qantas museum and Waltzing Matilda centre.

Thanks to the volunteers that made our visit memorable.

The Woolscour is being lovingly restored to it's former glory and is an on-going credit to the residents involved in Blackall. We spent time there many years ago and remarked on how sad it was that a vital piece of history was going to ruin. Not so now!

Such an important part of Australian shearing history is here for future generations to visit. Scott, the guide was knowledgeable and very interesting to listen to.

This is one of the places that you should add to your travel list , outstanding piece of [working] history. Will be visiting again in the future.

An amazing piece of history. Restored back to working order, but not a working Wool Scour. Take the tour. So much to say, I can't find the words. You have to go and see for yourself. The signs to get there are a bit vague. Follow the road straight, you'll see it on the right. A must see when you go to Blackall. Who says there's nothing to see in Blackall.

Incredible story.
The machinery was in first class condition, a credit to all involved.
The working conditions would have been horrendous especially in summer

The only wool scour shed left. Lovingly restored by the local volunteers of Blackall to its former working life. Relaxed, informative tour . Artesian bore providing the water at 58 degrees for all the washing process in the past.

Amazing look back at an industry now almost nonexistent in Australia. The guide, Scott Lusby did an awesome job of walking us through the digging of the bore to the last days of processing wool through the scour. So much history in such a small area. So well preserved.

An amazing walk through the history of the wool industry from shearing to clean packs of wool being loaded onto a train. Our guide was fantastic and explained each step of the process. The machinery was turned on to show how it works. We loved the experience.

What a unique museum covering our wool industry. Buildings and machinery have been restored and some in working order. A must see if in the Blackall area.

Stunning, this is an original working woolscour and most of the machinery still operates on demo from your guide who used to work there as a presser. The tour takes you from the shearing of sheep to the washing, drying, packing, pressing, grading and rail journey out. This is a must if your in Blackall and has been partly refurbished with grants. Say hello to Willow the guide hes a wealth of knowledge.

Bit of history here. Tour was great lots of stories. Little expensive but no regrets. Would have been a tough life in the old days

A great family tour if you have children interested in STEM. The woolscour itself is an amazing feat of engineering which is still partly functioning over 100 years since it was built. As well as touring the shearing shed and woolscour, a highlight was learning more about the on-site artesian bore (the perfect temperature for scouring wool) and the Great Artesian basin itself.

We really enjoyed our tour of this histotical example of industry. Our tour guide was fantastic and it was great to see the machinery in action. Terrific work by the community to save and restore this wonderful piece of history. Would recommend.

Great ace to check out .. A place that many don't know about. Never knew there was so much to wool processing. Lots of steam machinery still in place. A walk back in time

I only went on this tour because it was organised by my group. However, I found the information provided was fascinating and the tour leader captivating. Even if you have no interest in wool processing, I highly recommend this tour just to witness what a small group of dedicated people can do to keep Australian history alive.

Blackall was a wool growing area and proud of it. It is now mainly beef. The wool scour has been faithfully restored and is fully working just as it was a hundred years ago. Very informative tour
