James McMurtrie Glass Blowing

Gorgeous one-off glass products available to look at, which we did, and purchase, which we didn't, as it was a bit out of my budget but the whole property was black except for the green shoots starting to come back on the ground and in some trees. What an amazing recovery the vegetation can do. Anyone whose budget can accommodate the prices will certainly get an amazing piece of work if they buy something.

What a lovely little setup, It was amazing to see so many different artworks using their special glass blowing techniques. Really worth a visit if in the area. The couple were very lovely and happy to share or answer any questions. I was lucky enough to be there when they were blowing and was just mesmerised.

We visited last November 2023. Very interesting to visit and see how it all goes together. When the fires went through Pomonal I was afraid that this family business had been lost. Looking on Google today I see they are open again and hopefully I will visit soon.

Fantastic setup. Really friendly owner. When asked how long to make our platter he said around an hour plus 20 years experience. Lots of nice glass things to buy.

Fantastic space with great work on display. Priced fairly for their expertise. Bought a beautiful olive oil dispenser that I will cherish for many years to come!

Amazing to watch a piece be made. James makes it look easy but then he’s been doing it for 25 years. Definitely worth a visit.

This place was amazing! Unfortunately they weren't blowing when we came, but they were very welcoming and happy to chat/ answer questions. Encouraging us to touch and interact with some of the pieces. The work was incredible! Highly recommend going past to have a look and appreciate the workmanship!

Amazing craftsmanship. James was happy to answer any question and it was fascinating to learn the process of glass blowing. The pieces were beautiful and we were thrilled to be able to support a local business.

celebrating our 50th wedding anniversery, we found the studio and met james, "touch them, pick them up. "terrified, as the pieces of art were wonderful" we finally chose an exquisite piece that screamed out grampians. wonderful memory.

The pieces are just exquisite! I collect paperweights and I thought I’d stop by and we were blown away! From the incredible garden glass art as you drive down to their studio to the amazing colours inside their studio. Bowls, plates,vases, candle holders, paperweights, busts and that’s just a few. His work is nothing short of inspirational. We visit every year and I save up just to buy one of James’s original pieces. They were also so accommodating with my son (suffers from behavioural issues) they allowed him to touch the glass and were so calming He was so at ease and that made me at ease. Fantastic people :)

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the artists at work creating beautiful glass bowls. We bought one to take home. Well worth a visit!

Watched the lady making a bowl. They explained what they were doing. Nice relaxed place worth going.

Beautiful Glass

I have two of Jims beautiful, timeless pieces of glass. A glorious lime green and turquoise vase which is extremely elegant and unique - and a large oblong bowl with several hues of blues . I treasure these pieces and they are without doubt the most precious pieces of glass I have ever seen anywhere in the world . And here we have Jim in Victoria.! My husband and I met him today at the Eagles Nest Gallery in Aireys Inlet , where we have been buying art work for some time and I was thrilled to at last put a face to this talented and artistic man . I am sure we will buy many more exquisite pieces of glass . Where to put them to show them off will be a delightful challenge! Thank you very much Jim .

Really enjoyed them blowing the glass and we stayed for an hour and a half just enjoying artisans at work. We took home a beautiful bowl and will def visit in the future

James is a very talented glass blower. His work is just amazing. If your in the Stawell area do yourself a favour and check out his gallery. You wont be dissapointed.

Fascinating experience to watch the glass being made as the workshop and store are adjoining. Heaps of beautiful pieces to select from!
