The French Lettuce

We had a great time at this café. It's in a good spot and feels really cosy inside. Everything was clean, and they've got a nice selection on the menu. The staff were super friendly too. Our coffees were spot on, and the food, like the mushroom toast and big breakfast, was mostly delicious, although the hash browns could've been better. The portions were good though. Only thing is, it was a bit chilly with the doors open, even though it was warm inside. They might want to close them on colder days. Apart from that, we'll definitely be going back!

So excited that French lettuce opened in the East. Still far away for me but I was a big fan of the Carlton store and this is marginally closer. Cakes look amazing as expected. My favorite fruit tarts and cheesecake are as good as Carlton of not fresher. Heaps of staff working who were friendly and helpful on arrival. Worth the trip. Highly recommended!

Beef Bourguignon pie is amazing, soft crust and holds those chucky, tender, no runny gravy and just right ...

One of the nicest custard sugar donuts too, a bit sinful not too sweet.

Excellent cakes, tarts, pastries and bread. The tarts in particular are as good as what you'll find in France (big call I know!)
What has me hooked now is the fresh homemade ice-cream. Many unique flavours, and they are truly delicious!

I've never had a coffee scroll like the one I had today, and now I'm spoiled for anything else.

Coffee was pretty good.

I reckon this place is getting a bad rap, perhaps somewhat due to expectations from the Carlton store.

SUPER disappointed in the new hours, I get my coffee here most mornings on way to work and now that’s not possible, when I asked it was shared that it was because it wasn’t ‘busy’ enough But it’s always pumping when I’m there— really hope management reconsiders the open hour change.

Fantastic bakery and so lucky to have a store nearby. Huge range of bread, pastries, cakes and tarts, and savouries. Our highlights are the fruit or lemon meringue tarts, cheesecakes, and spinach rolls. Ordered a lemon meringue tart 8" $55 for a special occassion, easy to order and pay over the phone.

First time visiting this place, bought the donut, apple crumble tart, blueberry tart and cheese bake. The apple crumble tart was our favourite, can't wait to try other things next time!

The vanilla slice is outstanding. Buttery light but crispy pastry on top. Filling is creamy but not overly sweet. Extremely satisfying.

I also love their beef and burgundy pie. The pastry is rich and buttery. The filling is hearty with good chunks of meat and well seasoned.

I’m so glad they have a second location in the suburbs.

This has to be one of the most amazing cafe/bakeries in Victoria! The staff (Melissa, Alexis, Grace, Rachel, Katherine, Ellen) have to be the friendliest and chattiest around, always making me feel welcome. It’s easy to choose to buy and eat almost everything in store as it’s all equally delicious. I recommend everyone drop by, even extemporaneously, and grab a coffee and Danish (my personal favorite). Seriously, you won’t regret it.

OMG this place is amazing the Cakes the Coffee yum! But mostly the lovely service from the Girls they are all so friendly and lovely - remembering your name and making little notes on the coffee lids -have a lovely day! I even got some lovely Greek biscuits from one of the lovely ladies she had made especially for me to try - Melissa is so sweet and genuine she makes my day with that smile and going above and beyond for all the customers there. Great place will recommend to all my friends and family - thank you for making my mornings great!

Coffee is very good. The pastries are yum. The crossiant was buttery and flaky.

So so lucky to have an amazing quality cafe in the area. Honestly they have beautiful quality coffees and even better are there fruit tartes (other sweets too I'm sure) Also staff are wonderful so they tick all boxes for an amzing cafe, will be a regular just for there sweets and I'm sure the fam will be hooked on their coffee. 1 other thing to mention is they close at 5pm!! Would you believe that one of the best cafe's in in Mel close at 5!

This is my go to place when I am on my way to visit someone. I can never arrive empty handed. And I never walk out of this bakery empty handed. Staff are always friendly and welcoming and my golly, the food you find in this place will blow your tastebuds away!!! Yum yum, fav place!
