Ararat Astor Cinema

Obviously not a fancy city-slicker cinema but the experience is still magical and at half the price of typical fancy-shmancy cinemas, you'll be amazed at what this cinema can achieve with a small-town budget! I was once watching the re-screening of Avatar and one of the blue guys was getting attacked by this wolf thing, when the thing was trying to kill this blue guy I also felt attacked as well, I soon realised why because I looked down and realized a feral dog was biting into my leg! I didn't get my leg back but I was still amazed at how immersive that was, keep up the good work!

What an amazing building, so beautifully maintained the owners really have done a wonderful job. There is even a stair lift to help get upstairs. I love this place!

Love taking our grandson to the movies here during the holidays.

A small venue, that works well. Great atmosphere, staff are very attentive and the candy bar is quite good.

While maintaining some original country charm and character this cinema also blends aspects expected in a current day cinema. The staff are fantastic and more than happy to give some in-movie yummies deliveries. Every visit for us has been enjoyable.

Was nice good prices all good snap cinema though but that was expected...

Visited Astor theatre for a fundraising film for Red Cross . Well catered for with cooperation by management. Impressed with the number of members who had cooked delicious evening nibbles. Alcohol available. Committee members were very well organised and busy.
Film was Bohemian Rhapsody. Such a richly entertaining evening. Music fabulous. I wanted to dance in the aisles.

Clean,comfortable seating. May be issues getting access to upstairs cinemas for the disabled. Overall a very enjoyable experience and will be back.

very friendly staff, alright price for tickets, i can only fault one thing about the cinema, they should take out those little seats in the big cinema and replace them with the movie lounge seats, other than that its a great place to go, its always clean and you always get service with a smile

The Astor is an integral part of my Ararat lifestyle. It's hard to believe that a 3 screen cinema with 6 to 8 films every week is available to us. Excellent sound and screen quality. Excellent service.

This cinema hasn't been good since '09, when they showed Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Cinema as we know it peaked back then and as a film enthusiast, I dont think kino as an art form will ever recover.

Lovely cinema, family business and thoroughly enjoyed the air conditioning!!! Good snacks too 😊

Great cinema for a rural town with three cinema theatres. The bottom one is large and they are all very comfy. Nice small cafe as well.
