Best Chinese food we have ever had. Big boast I know but it was incredible. Super tasty and pleanty on your plate. Was so good we kept picking at each others dishes. We almost had to roll ourselves back out the door!
Has downstairs and upstairs dinning.
The toilets are upstairs, so keep that in mind for anyone with mobility issues. Highly recommended.

Ordered delivery. The food was delicious, timely, and all instructions (no shellfish, extra hot Singapore noodles) were followed to a tee. Dumplings, fish fingers, Singapore noodles and kung po chicken were especially good.

Scrambled egg white (I had extra broccoli)is such an amazing dish. Clean and healthy. Strongly recommend it! Purely eggs but tastes like crab.

The food was excellent. The duck skin was crisy and meat was juicy and succulent. The egg white scrambled was beautifully cooked and one of the best we have tasted. The calamari was fried well, crisy and not oily. We also tried ants on the hill which is excellent! Quality is excellent.

Really tasty. the menu has all the usual things you would expect to find, but a few more quirky things too. Try the salt and pepper shredded potato for a fusion version of hot chips, amazing!

The beef dumplings were nice and juicy, and the wait staff were super nice. A hidden gem!

A great meal tonight. Our group worked late and Ants Bistro remained open until we arrived.
The meal was very good and our international party enjoyed it immensely.
Dumplings and spring rolls hit the spot all washed down with good beer and wine.

Great food, great service and the prices are reasonable. Tea leave smoked duck is fantastic and the dumplings and meat dishes are amazing. Make sure you try the fish fingers too! And the Mongolian Lamb!!! And steaming hot fried rice which was freshly cooked and not frozen. Yummy! Been to a few restaurants in China Town over the years but this place is my favourite. Great for staff/company dinner parties during the week (not to busy). Great to impress people with the atmosphere too, intimate and the staff are a bit more 'westernized' shall we say when it comes to communicating.

Best Chinese food after a night out on the town. A delicious feast at 2am was much needed and very tasty.

Fabulous fresh food, easy online ordering whilst sitting at table. Stumbled across this great restaurant while we were walking through Chinatown. Highly recommend! Came back 30/04. Still great.

Entree comes out fast and taste fantastic. The chilli sauce with the calamari taste great and has a nice kick to it. Yet to eat my main (sweet and sour pork/chicken) but already know its going to be the greatest thing I've ever tasted!!!! Friendly staff and great atmosphere! If you're in Melbourne please give it a go!

Still there but doing uber eats at the moment due to restrictions.

Had a really nice meal, quality is similar for takeaway as it is in the restaurant.

Must come here more to dine-in when the restrictions are lifted. Thank you very much for a nice meal :-)

Wow, this is the best Chinese food in Chinatown/Australia!. We cannot recommend it highly enough. The owners. Maria and Stephen make you feel very much at home and there hospitality is a direct reflection of the tasty, fresh dishes the serve. Fully recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed.

We had a group of eight people and we all picked a dish each. Every one was tasty. One of my favorites Mah Poh Tofu was delicious (but it was called Grandmothers something or other). The service was excellent. I would call this place a winner.

Food: 5/5, Service: 6/5.

For those seeking authentic ants climbing trees, by golly, this is the place to experience this Chinese delicacy. Do yourself a favour, lock yourself in for the night and tuck into some succulent minister chicken, tasty chicken, and schezuan potato. The combination leaves you feeling sweaty but demanding more. Ants bistro, what a delight, we will be seeing you again very soon!

We all know that Little Bourke Street is Melbourne's Chinatown, and if you're lucky enough for your restaurant to be situated on that famous strip, you're always going to have high visibility with the consequent passing trade. I have found it interesting that there appears to be only two parts of Melbourne where restaurants tout for business; one is Lygon Street, and more recently we have started to see predominantly young Asian women touting outside restaurants in Little Bourke. Oh well, such is the competitive nature of the marketplace.

Ants Bistro is up against it from the start, given its position off the main drag in grubby Corr's Lane. It's not far off the main strip, but far enough not to be in your face when you walk past. And this is a shame, because the food here is great, and very reasonably priced.

I dined here recently with my son and his girlfriend. We always seek out places that are BYO so we can save some coin, and Ants is BYO wine only, which is fine. The menu is pan-Chinese, but there is an emphasis on northern and Szechuan cuisine, although some Cantonese favourites are also evident.

It's not a big place, although it does spread over two levels, and the decor is nothing to write home about. Service is efficient in the manner of most of the Asian eateries in this area. These wait staff aren't there to tell you their life stories or enquire about your day, although any questions about the are answered in a friendly manner.

We like spice, so we ordered a few one and two chilli dishes (the menu indicates the degree of heat--0, 1, 2, or 3 chillies). The heat here is nicely balanced. This is two chillies in the Dainty Szechuan style, but there's a real tingle on tongue.

All of the dishes we had were excellent and didn't take too long to appear: spring onion pancake, beef dumplings, spicy pork ribs (a highlight for me), Szechuan duck, ants climbing trees (best I've had; the clear noodles were light as a feather). $100 fed the three of us, and we're all big eaters; you can't complain about that.

If you're in Little Bourke Street and you want to enjoy an excellent Chinese meal, I can recommend Ants Bistro, particularly if you like a bit of spice. I will certainly be returning.

Great variety of food! The staff can speak Chinese so it's a plus for Chinese customers.

Ate their dimsum and fried rice and taste great.

Take note: there's a $20 per head minimum
