Gorgeous bookstore! Very well-organized, and they have an excellent collection. I can tell it was designed with care. I found Du Maurier’s ‘House on the Strand’ here after looking for it for ages (beautiful hardcover at a good price!), and a bunch of other gems. I could have spent a couple hours here had I been alone. Highly recommend!

Local second hand book shop with interesting selection of second hand books at reasonable prices. I always see people walking down Sydney Road clutching eclectic classics and know they have come from this delightful store. Walking past the street display you can’t help but dig through the spines remembering ones that you have read and planning for a time when you can indulge in the future. Highly recommended if you are looking for good quality and selection of fiction or chasing a book for uni or school.

Wow. This place needs to be in the top bookshops of the world.

I love the layout and selection. A must visit in Brunswick 💕

Solid selection in just about everything and as fair a price as you can expect from a used bookshop in a large city. The owner is a gentlemen and the whole space oozes a calm, cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
They also buy books at fair prices.

Truly think this is the magnum opus of second hand book stores in Melbourne. Absolutely brilliant selection. Philosophy and psychology shelves were packed to the brim with some excellent books. Lovely.

Such a beautiful bookstore, with a wide range of gems. My partner and I have been coming here every weekend for a long time (sometimes even more than once), and even so it’s a rare day that we visit and leave empty handed. Massive range of books, and I’m particularly pleased by the overflowing psychology and poetry sections. Both Jo and Nick are always up for a chat and give good advice :)

I hadn’t read regularly for many years before finding this store, and now every week I find something new, or more often 4+ new books. It’s a constant struggle at home to choose from the ever growing quantity of fantastic books I’ve bought here, and have found that the poetry and philosophy books in particular have made my life significantly better. Love the owners, love the location, and I now have a crippling secondhand book addiction that can only be managed with weekly trips here!

Easily the best bookshop in Melbourne. Somehow always seem to have exactly the esoteric title you’re looking for.

Particularly well stocked philosophy section.

A gem of a store. It has a great collection of books across all genres. You are definitely going to find ranging from the old classics to standard new ones. Their price is also quite reasonable. Even if you compare it with other second hand book stores I have always found it $5-10 less in this store. On top of the cherry, it has such a nice ambience.

It is on first floor. A bit tricky to find with no huge boards displayed so keep on walking along the street and it's right at the corner. Going to come back often to this place for my book collection.

My partner and I have been coming here every weekend for quite a while now and we have yet to leave empty handed. We've even had to purchase multiple book shelves to accommodate our second hand book addiction.

There is an excellent range of books on a broad range of topics, though I'm partial to the fiction section and am very much enjoying this year's addition of a sci-fi and fantasy section (and thank you Jo for the excellent recommendation The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin).

What Jo and Nick have accomplished here is nothing short of mesmerising. Everything, from the welcoming atmosphere to the staggering diversity and quality of what’s on offer, totally eclipses any other second hand book store I’ve ever visited. This is in no small part thanks to Nick and Jo’s hospitality and generosity, matched perhaps only by their literary expertise.

Each and every shelf is meticulously curated, ensuring that by the end of your time there (which will likely draw on for far longer than you had intended), you’ll likely find yourself holding half the store in your hands. Rather than inundating you with dime-a-dozen textbooks and tattered romance novels nobody wants, you can almost guarantee that the Tolstoys and Neitzches you could never find elsewhere will be there waiting for you.

At the end of the day, what really seals the deal is being able to do so without taking out a second mortgage, which speaks to Nick and Jo’s unmitigated passion for what they do; enriching the lives of those lucky enough to pass through their door is their primary concern. I was unfortunately only briefly in town, but should I ever find another opportunity to visit the store, let’s just say I’d probably need to start paying rent!

If Nick and Jo are reading this, then I just want to thank you for your time and your kindness. Your store was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my trip.

A friend and I walked past and saw the sign so we went in. The interior is so beautiful, there are books absolutely everywhere, despite this, the place didn't seem cluttered at all, but peacefully clean. the owner was so nice and very kind, and the prices were very reasonable - I got a poetry book for $10!!! I would definitely recommend this shop.

Love it, as someone who loves once worked in a second hand bookshop it feels like coming home. Even the smell of incense makes you want to linger among the books. Nick pays good prices for good books too, you’re in safe hands here

This is perhaps the best book store of its kind in Melbourne. Staff are welcoming and highly informative. The selection of books on display here are expertly curated. As for the space, it is relaxed, comfortable and the incense is a nice touch. You feel right at home. I would highly recommend a visit (or two).
