What a hidden gem! The staff were very friendly and everything on the menu was very good for value. I would recommend their chicken rice and chicken noodle soup! Their curry puff is excellent too and only $2.50! The flavours are authentic here.

I recently dined at this affordable gem and was blown away! The Chicken laksa was creamy and flavourful and it was my favourite. Curry puff was so flaky and the filling had the right amount of spice for me. The Pork and Prawn Spring Roll was fresh and juicy with a satisfying crunch. And the Mini Kaya Croissants also good, though I wished for more filling. Overall, fantastic food at affordable prices. Highly recommended!

Let's dine at @jomcorner, not in KL but in Melbourne! Situated at Shop 5/222 Bourke Street, beside Kmart, this Malaysian eatery offers authentic local delights at wallet-friendly prices.

We savoured their Nasi Lemak Bungkus—fragrant rice paired with spicy sambal, skillfully wrapped in whole banana leaves to preserve its aroma, a rare find in Melbourne where banana leaves are pricey.

Their Chicken Curry Puffs were delightfully flaky, filled with potatoes and chicken.

Don't miss their popular Curry Chee Cheong Fun, marrying sweet and curry sauces perfectly.

Take advantage of their deals on signature dishes; for an extra $3.50, enjoy a refreshing drink.

P.S.: Don't forget to try the Lekor—a must-have snack reminiscent of pasar malam delights!

Came for the great deal on chicken rice! Can't beat tender chicken in tasty ginger chili sauce, fragrant rice and soup loaded with flavour you can see - get if eyes not bigger than stomach cos can also add a drink (classic iced lime tea) at a discount.

Was also convinced to try Nasi lemak - is a hot one this one. Unwrap for rice and hot sambal wrapped in fragrant leaf with cucumber, peanuts, adorned with dried anchovies and topped with half boiled egg. The curry chicken on the side is mild spicy and so tender, 2 drumsticks in mine and the rest big chunks of potato.

You must try the curry puffs - light flaky pastry with curry spices with the veg more spicier than the chicken. Veg one got peas, carrot, potato and curry spice looks darker. Chicken has chicken and potato and spice feels more mellowed out

Kaya croissant was too cute not to try. Prob prefer this to kaya toast for a french luxe twist. Made in house, buttery and not too sweet!

Friendly staff and quick service here for your next meal in the city.

Delicious staple Malaysian food. Great for a grab and go meal or a quick sit down. Lovely service, tasty food! Affordable and quality feed. I recommend a visit if you’re ever around Kmart on Bourke St. CBD. 🥰

Great chicken rice to go in the city 🐔🥹

The staff is super attentive and friendly when I got here today. Not too busy for a Sunday arvo and I ended up getting the chicken rice w soup and teh tarik.

The chicken is super tender and the soy and chilli sauce is done super well! I spoke to the staff and they say the make it in store and definitely that's why it hit the spot.

Also the teh tarik is pre refreshing and not overly sweet. Would highly recommend that and I also overheard that barley water is pre popular with the orders.

Will come back soon 😁

When I walked into this unassuming restaurant, I didn't have high expectations as I wasn't even hungry, but it was dinner time. The plain and unattractive facade of the restaurant didn't help either, except for a few interesting dishes on display.

After perusing the menu, I decided to try the curry Cheong Fun and White Chicken Noodle. The presentation of the dishes was unremarkable, almost boring. However, the moment I took a bite, the explosion of flavors in my mouth was like a party. The curry had a unique taste that set it apart from any other curry I've ever had. The aftertaste of herbs and nutty spices was delightful, without being overly spicy. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and the noodles had a special sauce that complemented the dish perfectly.

I was so impressed that I finished the dishes before I could even take any photos. So, if you happen to be in the vicinity of this small, unattractive restaurant, I highly recommend giving it a try. You won't regret it!

This hole in the wall eatery tucked away in Kmart Crntre is serving up some of the most authentic and affordable Malaysian dishes! 😍

Their signature Jom’s Chicken Rice 🍚 is comfort food at its finest - silky and succulent chicken served with fragrant chicken rice, and topped off with their addictive homemade chilli sauce 🌶

Their Seafood Curry Laksa 🦐 is another signature dish and it’s perfect for this winter season ❄ It’s rich, hearty, and bursting with flavour! 🍲

Don’t forget to try their freshly baked Curry Puffs! The crust is so perfectly golden, buttery and flakey, without being too heavy 🤤

On 11 February we visited the famous Malaysian restaurant located in Shop 5/222 Bourke St (near Kmart) ✨

We got:
☕ Teh Tarik & Iced Lemon Tea
Great fresh drinks to pair with the heavy savory meals!

🍛 Nasi Lemak
This is a classic and always gonna be my favorite as it reminds me of Indonesian flavors! This dish has it all - perfect balance of flavors & textures (savory & spicy, soft & crunchy) from the chili paste, fried anchovies, boiled eggs and fried nuts. BUT it wouldn’t be complete without the Fried Chicken imo hehe (so we bought it ourselves!)

🍜 Curry Chee Cheong Fun
This was a rice noodle roll with curry sauce. It’s a blend of sweet, savory, hint of spice and sourness - definitely hits all the palate! The noodle, tofu & fish cakes were nice and chewy, they soaked up all the flavors from the curry.

🍛 Jom’s Chicken Rice
This reminds me of hainan chicken rice but with Malaysian twist. The chicken was nicely cooked and flavorful, but the rice wasn’t as good. We think it needed more sauce, definitely not as impressionable as the two dishes above.

We bought Chicken & Potato Curry Puff and Ayam Goreng (Fried Chicken) on the side as these are the classic! Love the crunchiness of the puff & soft fillings, explosion of curry flavor I’d say 🤩 The Ayam Goreng (Fried Chicken) was a NEED for me to eat with the Nasi Lemak, it had crunchy exterior and juicy meat as expected!

Overall, we’re quite happy with the selection, staff was nice & the food came quick (I’m sure this depends on how busy the place is). If you’ve never tried Malaysian food before, I’d recommend you to give this place a try as you won’t be disappointed 🥰

Nasi lemak is very good in this small restaurant. Chicken rice is OK. Their curry puff is also very good. They have inside and outside seating. This restaurant is inside the Kmart shopping center within Chinatown. Staff are very friendly and had table service. It is very convenient to access via public transport. Plenty of car parking nearby.

really yummy Malaysian food conveniently located in Melb CBD. We enjoyed their laksa, chicken rice & snacks here. Laksa had a nice amount of ingredients and curry puff’s pastry was very nice and flakey.

Lovely place for some amazing Malaysian food at an affordable price.

The staff at the counter was extremely nice and friendly, making us feel welcomed at the restaurant instantly.

Food was great for the price. Ordered the nasi lemak+curry chicken and seafood laksa.

I had the nasi combo. The curry chicken and potatos went well with the fragrant rice, had a nice kick of build-up spice. The sambal was unique, not entirely malay styled sambal, but still delicious!

I ordered curry chicken noodles ($14.90) today, and I wasn't disappointed! Nice and clean place, friendly staff and not too long waiting time. For the first yime I got potatoes in chicken curry in Melbourne, which was very good. 5 pieces of chicken drumsticks with nice, hot gravy was just good. As for the noodles, those were thin, about 2 mm or so, and well fried as I could taste it. A 2nd visit is inevitable!

“Jom Corner”,Hot spot for Malaysian food in street style. Nice services with the real taste of Malaysian food🥰 What else could be better than this?

The “must” order dishes are the signature Jom’s Chicken rice and Nasi lemak. Perfect combo of nicely marinated chicken with spicy and salty sauce served with flavourful rice. The Nasi lemak served in the banana leave just brings you back to the traditional Malaysian style food. The pork and prawn spring rolls will never do you wrong with all the crispness and savoury 😻.

Don’t forget to also order the drinks like Milk Teas and Kopi served in the bags giving you the street food vibe with huge smiles from the staffs. Definitely recommend this place.

We found an authentic and lovely Malaysian restaurant hidden inside Kmart Centre Melbourne. The dishes are packed with so much flavour and they serve alot of Malaysian sweet and savoury delicacies. OMG, you have to try the Air Bungkus - Jumbo Teh Tarik which is served in a plastic bag that comes with a handle, just like they do traditionally in the Mamak stores in Malaysia, "teh tarik bungkus satu" ("one pulled tea to go"). I really enjoyed their signature chicken rice. The chicken was very tender and the chilli sauce was on point! Another favourite was the Kaya Toast. it is very hard to find a decent homemade kaya spread in Melbourne but here you go! Jom Corner's Kaya is delicious! You can even purchase a jar of their homemade Kaya and Chilli sauce too.

Featured:
- Curry Chee Cheong Fun
- Nasi Lemak
- Chicken Rice
- Curry Puff
- Bak Kut Teh
- Keropok Lekor (Fish Sausage)
- Kaya Toast
- Ayam Goreng (Fried Chicken)
- Teh Tarik (Milk Tea)

Definitely recommend Jom Corner if you are looking to try decent authentic Malaysian cuisine. Staff are very friendly and service is excellent.

Not a huge place, but I had a late lunch so plenty of seating available. Tried their signature chicken rice as recommended by the staff, and it’s tasty. Looking forward to come back to try their other dishes.

Update: tried their chicken potato puff and they are delicious 😋

A little Malaysian cafe tucked in the CBD area inside Kmart centre. They have a simple selection of dishes to choose from. My favourites are their kaya toast, fried chicken and fried spring rolls.

I would prefer they served the toast where the kaya and butter are assembled already though as it’s not very easy to spread with plastic cutlery and hard to distribute them evenly.

I also recommend their chicken rice as it has all the right flavours and price point is great!

What a wonderful surprise to see a nicely done authentic Malaysian nasi lemak in Melbourne! As you unwrap the nasi lemak, an instant fragrance of the banana leaf and coconut milk hits you. The soft fluffy rice with rich coconut flavour goes so well with the spicy sambal, the crunch of the anchovies!! It's so good, I can just eat this on its own, without the fried chicken that comes in the set. I miss Malaysia!
