China Chilli Melbourne Chinatown

This is the best Sichuan style restaurant we ever tried in Melbourne especially the spicy and sour fish is indeed a signature one. Other dishes are nice including the fried scallops with asparagus and the cold noodles are good match. Prices are reasonable and good for family gatherings.

Very nice dark themed interior with neon light decor and comfy lounges. Food was fantastic, lamb ribs were full of authentic flavours. Not super spicy, perfect balance so you can taste all the different spices/dimensions. Tea smoked fried rice was also a hit, full of taste. Highlight was the spicy fish fillets, superb taste and the portion was enormous! Will be back :)

Unsure how the ave is 3.6 but I've had 4 excellent meals here with mates. We byo for a reasonably corkage and the food is epic. Usually go for the fish with chillies, black fungus, beans and pork and tea smoked duck. Enjoy!

Not too sure about the mixed reviews here but based on my personal experience, I’d rate it a 5/5 undoubtedly. Service was amazing (which is super rare given that it’s an Asian restaurant). Food was great as well! We got their chilli oil fish, braised eggplant, stir fry vermicelli with prawns and cold noodles with shredded chicken. All dishes were cooked perfectly. Dishes came out steaming hot and fresh. We would definitely revisit to try out other dishes!

Will definitely come back as we felt really welcomed by the manager. And she seems to be a good manager too as she would clean tables, wash dishes, getting the checks for customers, etc... overall very good work ethics! I think companies would like to have her working for them.

Love this place. I've been here at least a dozen times already and will be back many more times to come. Food is always delicious, and the service never disappoints. I definitely recommend this place if you have a taste for traditional Chinese food. There is no beef and black bean sauce or lemon chicken on the menu. This is the real stuff.

My go to place to satisfy my sichuan food cravings. Be mindful that some of the dishes are quite spicy 😜 great ambience after renovation, service was great, a nice option for family gatherings.

Been coming to China Chilli for years and this is me and all my friends’ favorite restaurants!! I’m Sichuanese and I’d say this is the most authentic one in Melbourne! I’ve spent lovely lovely yummy time here countless times with my friends.

My favorite dishes are twice cooked pork, yuxiang braised eggplant, cold noodles, spicy lamb chops and 辣子鸡。

ps I think people need to stop giving 1 star just cause they don’t understand the cuisine and culture 🙏🏼

I give this restaurant two thumbs up! It is a jewel among the Chinese restaurants buried in the hustling and bustling of Melbourne’s uptown area. My wife and I are spending a five day vacation here and craving for a hearty Chinese dinner after a day trip to Sovereign Hills Gold Mine. I searched on Google and decided to come here for dinner. We are both so happy that we made this decision. It was a busy Saturday night and all tables have been reserved. The hostess helped secure a table on the corner of the restaurant intended for walk-ins. We choose three common dishes to my wife’s liking. The service was fast and the quality of dishes were beyond our expectations. A vegetarian dish, a spicy pork dish and a fish fillet in a hot pot. They were genuine Sichuan style cuisine. We savored every bit of the dishes we ordered. People are warm and hospitable. When traveling far away from home, what can one ask more than a hearty meal! This eatery deserves a five star rating for the food they serve. 👍

Been coming here for the past 4 years for hot pot and stir fry dishes. The consistency has always been there, which is rare for Chinese restaurants.

Really good food- tables ( without tablecloth ) need painting.
I am concerned they are not great financially. We need to support them as it's a great restaurant and really nice people.
