Dr Laurence Sullivan

I have been under Dr Sullivan’s excellent care for almost 30 years. He is very attentive and has always been available in an emergency. I would highly recommend him for eye care.

I had blended vision surgeries (two) by Dr Sullivan for cataracts in both eyes. I'd been shortsighted with astigmatism for nearly my whole life. The distance-vision eye is great after the surgery: 6/6 reading the Snellen chart. At over six months since the surgeries, the supposed reading-vision eye – suboptimal by design for distance vision – did not improve with time passing since the surgeries and has such poorly corrected astigmatism even after surgery that it's useless for reading without glasses, and at 30cm away from the text, I have a better chance of making it out with the distance-vision eye. I can't read the instructions on the shampoo bottle when under the shower.

At all healthcare practices that I've visited in recent years (GP, dentist, specialist (including another ophthalmology practice)), when it comes time to pay the bill, the staff at the front desk helpfully process your Medicare and health insurance refunds, you pay just the gap, and you're DONE with your payments. The office of the (one) anaesthetist at both my surgeries also sent me a bill just for the gap payment after processing my Medicare and health insurance refunds on my behalf. Not so at Dr Sullivan's practice, where they charge you the full fee up front, hand you the receipts and send you on your way to figure out what you have to do to get your refunds – something that you might not even have had to do before when you're accustomed to more customer-friendly billing procedures at the front desk.
