Bridget McDonnell Gallery

I have spent many hours in this gallery over the past 30 years and purchased several works. I still enjoy them all and feel they always look better on my walls. Occasionally, Bridget visits and rearranges the pictures creating a new perspective and fresh look. I am always guided by her and have, on occasion, bought works I wasn’t so keen on, only to find in time, they have become my favourites. In her absence ( rare) I have often been guided by her wonderful co hosts, Caroline, Rena, Beverly and young Bridget. If you haven’t visited this gallery, I urge you to give it a go. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, advice is honest and there is never pressure to buy. They also hold a vast array of works to suit all budgets.

this gallery is absolutely fantastic. It has a very extensive collection of Australia, Art and the people working. There are very friendly and very willing to tell you all the stories about the paintings there's a few Sydney Nolan paintings in there at the moment from his Ned Kelly series and a couple of paintings that aren't by Jeffrey smart but look quite a lot like his workgallery is about five minutes from lygon Street

The staff were so helpful and friendly going out of their way to assist me . I found the gallery to have a lovely cosy, inviting, feel it wasn't cold or uninviting like some art galleries.

It had some Irish music playing in the background it sounded like the Dubliners and an eclectic mix of paintings all over the walls.

There was also a downstairs area with numerous spotlights to showcase different pieces I highly recommend a visit.

Over the past 15 years I have lived in several countries. My new abode becomes my home when my painting are hung (and photos are in place). All my art bring me such joy along with the memories of when I bought them - all with the caring guidance of the staff at Bridget McDonnell Gallery.

It is always a total pleasure to visit the Bridget McDonnell Gallery. As well as being a Melbourne institution, the Gallery still finds ways to surprise and inspire.

Bridget keeps a truly impressive range of works: from important Australian works through to the St Petersburg School and contemporary artists around the world.

And Bridget is always there to give a warm welcome to visitors and a friendly explanation of anything on the walls. I’ll be back soon!

Once you step through the door of this gallery you will be transported into the worlds of some of the most picturesque painting landscapes and be assisted by the attentive and welcoming Bridget. I have many pieces from the gallery around my house and everyone always comments on the uniqueness of each painting. Definitely worth visiting this hidden gem, even if just to have a look around!

Located in the centre of Carlton Bridget’s Gallery is cosy, quaint and well worth a visit. Bridget, the owner goes out of her way to chat to anyone that comes in and not only is very knowledgeable about the art and the artists she works with but also has great recommendations on exploring the Carlton area. Highly recommend!

I have bought and sold through Bridget McDonnell's Gallery and make her my first stop when considering Australian art. The gallery has a name as being reasonable and fair-dealing. I recommend a visit just to enjoy the art or if thinking about a quality piece for your collection.
