Their coffee is simply delightful with satisfying taste. As for the matcha pancake, it's nothing short of incredible. The balance between the luscious matcha flavor and the refreshing burst of fruits creates a perfect harmony on the palate. It's a delightful experience that keeps me coming back for more 😍

such a cute cafe. I love the interior design it’s so quaint. great service as well though we did come almost right at opening on a Monday morning and there was no one there so service was to be expected…

the spicy carbonara was fantastic. I slurped up every last drop of the sauce it was so good. my boyfriend ordered the omurice w curry and that was pretty great too, only I don’t think I’m too big a fan of tomato rice but that’s just me.

peach yogurt soda drink just tasted like soda + Yakuly, nothing too special. Matcha was pretty decent as well but I’m very picky about it so I’d say I definitely have had better hehe.

I really like the Mentaiko Udon here! Not too creamy and delicious. We also had the pretty Creme Toast (seasonal?) which was really good too for desserts, as well as the Tornado Omurice which was good. Love the vibe and the decor, and the staffs are attentive and friendly!
Would definitely come back here for the udon and to try out other dishes in the menu 🥰

📍One of Best Brunch cafe near Unimelb

🌟 Highly recommend to order "Escape from forest".
It is inspired by Wes Anderson's film, The Grand Budapest Hotel. The staffs were so friendly and the food came out quite quickly. At that time, there were not that many people and we went a bit early for brunch. The food was so pretty and delicious.

You’re bored of eating regular brunch delicacies! Fret not, @the_budapest_cafe in Carlton is all about offering you with an extraordinary and an unique yet extremely delicious brunch/breakfast food and drinks menu.

Escape from Forest is not the only thing that sets @the_budapest_cafe apart from all other cafes, yet this one is hard to resist and the unique concept of serving this matcha icecream and Hokkaido pancakes dish with a hammer is really cute and Insta-worthy. Tastes very fresh and yummy. Must try.

Dutch baby was my next favourite, I still remember the mouthwatering flavours of this dish, so beautiful and such fantastic ingredients, like mozzarella, prosciutto, avocado, rocket, tomatoes, besides that fluffy, fried and tasty Dutch egg omelette/pancake. Highly recommend

Budapest bruschetta is something super light, refreshing and delish brunch option. The cottage cheese is a great addition to this dish.

Egg Benedict garden with smoked salmon, was incredibly flavourful, delectable and a quite filling dish it was! Spicy hollandaise sauce on a croissant with perfectly poached eggs made a huge difference to our taste palette, loved it, strongly recommend.

Even their coffee game is so different and amazing, like einspanner and butter foam coffee are so excellent. Must try.

Definitely gonna come back here for more of their Asian fusion brunch menu and drinks! Also the service is super prompt despite of long queues on weekends.
The interior is super aesthetically appealing and the vibe is very calm and relaxing. You’ll definitely have a great time at this cafe.

Visit early on weekends, and definitely checkout this week with your friends and fam @the_budapest_cafe

The decor of this venue is lovely and it’s so adorable inside! I want to go back! We had a number of dishes in our group! The udon was my favourite and the mandarin chicken! I also ordered green tea cakes off the menu, it was like a pancake with green tea cream, strawberries that had possibly been dehydrated and green tea ice cream. So delicious and fluffy the pancakes were!
My friend had the soft shell crab danish roll burger with sweet potato chips! I got to taste a bite. We like to go out in groups and order everything so we can try a bite of everything. My other friend had the tornado omurice with was perfectly cooked!
Everything was delicious!

UPDATED 2nd time: Ok so I must admit that pork tonkatsu tornado egg omurice last time was amazing. We had the spicy carbonara and the udon the second time around. Was amazing. The flavours were flavoursome, exquisite and something different. Like the service the first time was rubbish but the second time everything was back in stock and they upped their game from a service perspective. I hope they continue to provide good service and keep all their amazing food in stock.

1st time: I honestly wanted a refund. Ran out of the beef and my friend is allergic to egg. So got the chicken for him which they said it was the last one and it was raw, just like they didn’t care. Also there were 4 couples that came in before us and they got their food before us there is a bit of discrimination going on here with the egg allergy.

every dish we ordered was so delicious, staff was so friendly and attentive. the best one i had was the mentaiko udon- the cream was surprisingly not heavy and all the ingredients tasted amazing when blended together!
Booking is recommended if you want to avoid the queue, we waited for about 25 minutes to get a seat for us three at 2pm on a weekday.

Came here for brunch with a friend and thankfully it wasn’t too busy. The cafe is pretty aesthetic and the food was Delicious. Staff was very attentive and enjoyed every single Dish I’d ordered.

The star of the brunch was the drink.

Super aesthetic place to dine in. Service was good, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Their Matcha Latte was good, not particularly too strong or too sweet. The Spicy Carbonara Pasta although on the smaller side of a portion, tasted amazing! The “Escape the Forest” was very appealing to the eyes and a great mix of flavours! Would come back for sure.

Pretty pastel haven! Stopped in on a whim, and had the Insta-famous matcha dessert that comes with a little hammer so you can smash the heck out of the waffle cone. Quirky and fun, just like the Wes Andersen movies that inspired the cafe.

My new favourite cafe. I wish I had discovered this place sooner. Worth looking up for, or you can book a table online if you have a group of 5 or more. I'm a regular cafe hopper and their duck is the best dish I've tasted in years - I don't typically even like duck.

Came here for brunch and it was amazing. We ordered the omurice, mentaiko udon, egg benny and escape from the forest (pancakes). The flavours were amazing and portion sizes were generous. The pancakes come with a small mallet to smash the cone which is a lot of fun. There is only indoor seating and it's quite popular so be prepared to wait if you are coming during peak time.

I went to The Budapest Cafe for some brunch/breakfast and it was an AWESOME decision.

Because I really love how they have their cafe layout and the interior design.

I even took some photos of my girl friend inside the cafe for my portfolio at MDN Photography.

Then when our food came my cravings were truly satisfied when I took a bite from each dish.

The Egg Benedict Garden was one of the best egg benedicts I’ve had in Melbourne.

And the Big Breakky was a great dish to share with plenty of protein.

I didn’t tray enjoy the Matcha as I did with the Fruit Of Eden drink.

Overall, I would give The Budapest Cafe a 5 out of 5 rating for the tasty food and customer service.

So if you haven’t been here I would strongly recommend you do and to also try their Fruit Of Eden drink.

Went to this place after seeing someone posted on TikTok.

My friend thought it would be a Hungarian or European style cafe but it is nothing like that at all.

The menu is more like Asian fusion and there are many uni students who come to this place.

The foods were pretty good and I would like to come back next time to try their other dishes.

A hyped Asian-fusion cafe that I can get behind. Definitely recommend the Mentaiko Udon! So creamy and they cooked the udon to perfection. (I’m quite picky with how my udons are cooked ahhaah)

Although it is quite pricey, it’s worth checking out.

Very adventurous menu with some great flavours. We enjoyed the Asian fusion breakfast and lunch menu. The interior is simple and nicely themed, with a good atmosphere. Look forward to coming back to try some of the other dishes.

Visit this cute little cafe this afternoon, me and my partner ordered a dutch baby and beef bourguinion. Although we waited for about 15 minutes for our food to arrive, it was well worth the wait. The dishes were absolutely delicious and expertly prepared, and we could taste the quality and care that went into each one.Overall, the wait was a minor inconvenience that was quickly forgotten once we tasted beef, it was really soft and tender. Was wondering whats the leafs on the beef.
