Can't speak highly enough about Total Voice Studio. Darren is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about vocal training and is an excellent instructor. I've noticed a significant improvement in my voice after only a few months of training with Darren. His approach aims to develop your musicianship alongside your voice, which is refreshing and fun! I look forward to these lessons every week and I would highly recommend Darren to anyone looking for a voice coach.

Prior to my lessons with Darren i had been singing on and off for a number of years, doing covers gigs and writing originals, but ultimately finding I'd hit a wall with my sound and technique, and was feeling lost and uncertain of how to actually improve.
I'm about 15 lessons in now and my voice, confidence and relationship to singing have all improved dramatically.
Darren is very experienced and always has multiple ways to explain or coax new sounds out of you, and I've frequently been surprised with what comes out of my mouth under his guidance!

I look forward to our weekly lessons immensely, and all the exercises and practical tips he gives in our lesson recordings have been invaluable in unlocking my voice.
Some notable joys have been discovering that i have a much bigger range than initially thought, actually enjoying listening to recordings of myself, and feeling myself relax and open up in my performances.

I came to Darren by way of a recommendation from a friend... I used to sing as a kid but grew a bit more self conscious as an adult. I had the sense that I had a decent instrument but I wasn't really sure how to play it and was embarrassed enough that I'd stopped singing for 10ish years.

Darren has helped me to pinpoint technical issues with my voice using drills that have given me more technical control. He's got a huge grab bag of corrective techniques and his years of experience and research allow him to very precisely identify and address problems.

Darren took over as Music Director of Melbourne Singers of Gospel in 2008, when the choir was in turmoil. He made an impact immediately with his engaging and flamboyant style of teaching.
