The Saffron House

Recently dined at this gem of an Indian restaurant in Blackburn South, Melbourne. The authentic flavors transported me straight to the heart of India. Every dish was a delightful explosion of spices and aroma. Exceptional service and a warm, inviting ambiance made the experience unforgettable.

Ample parking space that is shared with the shops and restaurants around this restaurant but the faculty is good for busy evenings.

There is a lot of seating space at the restaurant as well. Although we had take away, the service was really good, with a smile, a friendly chat and overall good vibes.

The seekh kebab was perfectly spiced and cooked. The chicken was a bit dry but was tasty.

The chicken malabar dish was good the highlight of our meal. Perfectly cooked chicken pieces in a delicious coconut based gravy. The chicken pieces were generous as well. The biryani and the raita were amazing as well. Took me back to a restaurant in norther part of India.

Overall, a very pleasant experience. Will be returning for more.

Finished my first 5 day week in a new job and was truely exhausted so take away was always going to be the option for our Friday nights dinner. Been two years since we last took away from Saffron House and only two things changed. We ordered Nanas instead of rice and we ordered via a Deliveroo instead of Uber Eats. Other than that delicious butter chicken, and samosa with a comfortable level of spice. The clay oven chicken tikka was super delicious too. We’ve made the effort to try many of the others around us but Saffron House is one of the more enjoyable we’ve had.

Uber Ate from Saffron House tonight after a LONG working day. We’ve done the take away thing once before and we’re impressed by the quality. Tonight we had our regular butter chicken order, this time with a 1/2 tandoor chicken, samosas and rice. I enjoyed the vegetables samosa which was quite mild and the tandoori chicken was nice and tender. Loved the flavour of the butter chicken but they could have been a little more generous on the actual chicken quantity. Overall a tasty meal for this tired office worker.

Raghav who works here is a really great employee ,very polite and respectful treatment….nice management tho

Best and most flavoursome lamb balti I’ve had in years. My vegetarian friend said it has a good choice of veggie dishes. Friendly staff. Chilled atmosphere. I’d go again definately.

This is a staple weekly dinner for our family. Perfect, delicious, spectacular food every single time. The customer service is phenomenal and the team that run the restaurant care about our needs and know our orders. More than highly recommend!

Great quality a Indian food in Blackburn. I had heard about Saffron House, but had never been there, and was very happy I finally made it. The palak paneer was thick and tasty and had a beautiful flavor , the Dahl was tasty and not hot but good flavours, and the chicken malabar was tasty! Good quality, flavourful without being hot, and good sized servings. Very happy and will be back to try other dishes. I would have taken a photo but we’ve eaten it all!

Some of the best, if not the best Indian you will get this side of Melbourne. I have been going to Saffron House for over 10 years and they still know how to make a fantastic dish. Fairly priced & big portion sizes too!

Hard to believe the negative 1-star reviews. I have lived in the area for 15 years and been to Saffron House at least 30 times including for birthdays. The food is always superb, the environment nice and the service great. I can only think anyone who thinks the owners are rude must have been very rude themselves in the first place. Anyway I highly recommend this place.

Ordered take away from them for the first time and it was amazing! Butter chicken was one of the best I've ever had delicious gravy and chicken tender. Highly recommend and will be back.

Amazing butter chicken, my beef korma is always so tender. Love their cheese and garlic naans. We never have to wait long for pickup orders, and the front of house staff are always so welcoming!

I often pass by this restaurant and wanted to give it a try today. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST FABULOUS RESTAURANTS I've been to in Melbourne. The Restaurant is very clean, classy and the food was absolutely delicious. Service was very friendy. It was a happy and had a contented meal today, I just cant think of anything negative may be I can say they are a bit pricey on comparison but it's worth it.

Well we started with Panneer Tikka which was fresh soft juicy and the blend of spices was on point. Beautiful with the dips. It is a must try.

I wanted to have something light and ordered cocount rice which was one of the best dishes Ive ever had in Melbourne. Its more on the south indian side and tasted exactly like my moms recipe. Just loved it.

Pepper chicken and Naan were delicious. Chicken was well cooked spicy enough for me.

I felt very light even at the end of my meal.

Overall a happy meal made my day!
I think this is a place to visit for a happy hygienic and contended meal.

So delicious, full of flavour and consistently good. Never fails to hit the spot when your craving a good curry. Been going here for almost 10yrs now and whilst Ive tried others in the area, i keep coming back. Lamb saag,beef vindaoo,rogan josh, tika masala alll so good..oh and dont dorgetthe garlic nann

Best Indian food in Melbourne's East ! And has proven very consistent over the years. Everytime we visit is a taste experience. The rice is always 'just right'. Kashmiri naan is from heaven !! Don't miss the pistachio ice-cream. Nice and quiet so you can talk easily. Indian 'strong' beer goes great with any dish. Love it. Highly recommended.
