One of our favourite wineries in the Tamar Valley region. Doug is an amazing host and so knowledgeable. Generous tastings, beautiful atmosphere and amazing wines. We stayed overnight at @Domescapes and loved it. Highly recommend this gem.

We went in to buy one bottle of wine and ended up buying 8! We couldn't decide between them. We loved them all. Doug was fantastic, very personable and generous. Nellie the dog was a winner with everyone and the views are amazing!

10/10 experience. Main highlight was lovely Tori who was so fun and bubbly, she let us try a couple more wines and was just the absolute highlight of the tasting. Loved the pet Nat wines, we kept the order sheet to remember which ones we loved. Also little Nellie was so sweet! Pro tip is to sit by her bed to get all the puppy contact!

Best winery in the area hands down! Search no more if you are in need of a winery. They had a fantastic selection and specialized in white wines since the cool climate is better for growing white wines vs reds. The tasting experience was fantastic, learned so much! Plus their dog who was next to us added positively to the experience. She was adorable. Amazing place!

Doug let us try almost all the wines on the list and every single one was delicious. Some pretty unique wines too!

So lucky to find this quaint winery on our last day in Tasmania. Owner was incredibly knowledgeable and had sweet Nellie the winery dog beside us throughout the vast selection of tasting. Love how little wineries have that friendly touch to everything and doesn’t push you into buying anything - thank you for the hospitality!

Had a lovely time here tasting different version of well known, and some not well known, varieties. Very intriguing, so we bought some to drink on the holiday and sent some home. Love his approach to wine making, one of the true characters in the industry. Thank you for a lovely morning (never too early to taste great wine!)

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Swinging Gate. It was such a beautiful winery and the owners were so lovely. We really enjoyed the wine tasting and looking up at the stars through the dome! Thank you for having us!!

Nice selection of wines and cider. All made with little to no preservatives. So quite natural which is nice they are also able to ship wine from all over Tasmania not just the Tamar 12 which is great. Staff all very friendly as was Milly the dog. Domes for rent if you like to glamp amongst the vines.

$12 tasting for 7 wines (and additional ones too if you want). My partner and I shared a tasting. Tasting price was redeemable upon purchase of a bottle.
We really enjoyed the range of wines here. They had wines that are rare in cold climates/Tasmania so was good to try something different.
The cellar door was very cute with indoor and outdoor seating. The service was great too.

Such a fantastic winery! Owners were so lovely and hospitable. One of the best wineries I’ve been too, ordered much more wine than planned! Nellie the doggo was a cute bonus! :)

Thanks to Doug and Corrie for their hospitality once again. We had two nights in the domes, had an outside bath, lit the firepit and enjoyed some amazing wine! Also, kudos to Cabin Coffee in Exeter for great coffee and breakfasts.

This was my first ever wine tasting. We tried other vineyards but they were too full/busy and we were turned away. Then we happened upon this place which I'm so glad we did. I'd never liked white wine but came away from this tasting with a completely different opinion!
Doug really took the time to explain about the wines and patiently answered all my questions. He even gave us a couple of extra tastings. You could tell it was a passion project for him.
The setting was lovely. We were sat at a table and Doug came over with the wine at intervals so it didn't feel rushed. At other tastings I came to appreciate how special Doug's service and attention were. All the staff here were very friendly and welcoming.
I learnt so much about wine and the visit was one of the highlights of my Tasmania trip. Now I'm a wine enthusiast!
Unfortunately we could only buy 1 bottle of wine as we were flying to NZ.

Lovely and friendly owner. Great selections of wine. Great value wine tasting. $12 for 7 wine samples, but the owner essentially let us sample any others that we want. Friendly dog and chicken. Highly recommended.

Great winery tasting in the Tamar winery trail. Beautiful and cosy place with fantastic wines.
Only place I tried to feature pet nat rosè and pinot noir. Sublime, fruity and refreshing pet nats.
Tried my first Amarone, a blend of pinot noir and cab Sauvignon an absolute flavour bomb!!!!!
A must to try and probably change your palate preference instantaneously.
Thanks for a great tasting experience.

Had the loveliest visit to The Swinging Gate over the weekend. The service was fantastic - very friendly and also patient with all my questions. The wines were also fantastic. It was the only winery we visited in the Tamar Valley based on its great reviews and it met all our expectation's

The wine at The Swinging Gate Winery is unique and incredibly delicious. I had to hold-up on the tastings as I was behind the ol steering wheel. It was a gorgeous sun-filled Saturday arvo in the Tamar Valley. My fiancé & I were recommended this winery by the folks from another winery in the region. And it blew us away.

Doug and his wife are lovely. They graciously hosted us for a tasting and a delve in to their knowledge of their wine making world. The flavours and aromas are quite unique. The Amarone is very sophisticated - very rich, and full of flavour - the process in which they make it sounds fascinating.

Highly recommend a drop-in for the tasting - Doug has a tonne if interesting knowledge to share - and his wife offers spa treatments next door. Make sure to buy some wine to remind yourself of the experience you have there. It’s set on a ridge looking over the vines. Quality joint.
My wife and I boast having visited every major wine distrct in Australia and Swinging Gate was friendly, warmly welcoming and informative and, by far, the most fun we've had tasting wines. A big shout out to Doug who made us feel so welcome. Doug is trialling some interesting concepts and I hope everything goes well for this vinyard. The wine is excellent. I recommend the Single Block. Doug is a great host.

Really good tasting experience, it is $7.50 for tasting hut if you buy a bottle you don't need to pay. We loved the Pinot Grigio, Pinot Gris and the frontignac. The wood fired pizzas were very popular and we wish we had room for them. We walked away with several frontignac and are looking forward to quaffing whilst in Tasmania and taking a few home.
