Hayley is a fantastic bass teacher. I started playing bass as an adult learner, and before starting with her I tried a couple of other teachers but couldn't connect with their style. I've been learning with Hayley for a year now (and counting!).
In that time my skill, knowledge and competence in the bass has come a long way under her guidance. As a teacher, she is very patient, compassionate and insightful. I always feel at the edge of my capability, in that ideal learning zone. Hayley is always quick to point out the progress I'm making, which is reassuring in those moments of self doubt!
She knows when to encourage me, when to take a different approach or change tack and try an alternative to keep me engaged in what I'm learning.
Hayley's great at applying the theory she's instructing me through the music that I enjoy playing, so I get a great sense of achievement as I level up.
I'd recommend Hayley to anyone who's thinking of starting or extending their bass playing.

I very highly recommend Hayley if you are looking to learn the bass. I started lessons as a complete beginner and after just a few months I am already feeling so much more confident in my playing and my theoretical knowledge. Hayley creates a very productive learning environment where mistakes are welcome. Her lessons are always nicely balanced as we work on technical exercises and songs. My son had bass lessons with Hayley during Year 12 as he was studying Music Performance and needed extra guidance. Hayley was a wonderful , gentle and patient teacher who helped develop his technique and extended him where needed and her guidance and knowledge with both theory and practical work helped him achieve wonderful results. He was asked to play at his end of year 12 valedictory awards night and did an amazing job .

Hayley has been brilliant at teaching in a way that just makes the lessons fun. She has piles of theoretical knowledge which comes through in the lessons in a slow and steady pace (just what I need). She's also a very kind and patient teacher, with a real passion for the Bass Guitar.

Hayley is an amazingly skilled and experienced musician, and a wonderful teacher. She really cares about her students, and is an especially wonderful role model and mentor to female students. The muscial journey has many ups and downs, and after every lesson, no matter what the motivation and energy levels are for the week, our daughter comes out energised and enthused for the next round of learning tasks. It also helps that Hayley seeks to understand the student's goals, musical tastes, and researches and finds suitable songs to carry the teaching. So whatever the type of music you want to play, Hayley will find some excellent and contemporary songs to help progress your learning. Where lessons at school are great to get students started, Hayley has been wonderful at picking up some core fundamentals that have been missed to date, and the 1:1 lesson as opposed to the group lessons at school have really helped our daughter talk up more, has her asking more questions, and rapidly improving her ability. We've been with Hayley for 6 months now, and with Hayley's depth of experience, are looking forward to continuing the tutoring for many years to come. Hayley has been a fantastic find, and a wonderful mentor of our year 10 daughter and her bass (and occasional 6 string) guitar journey.

Hayley is an excellent teacher. Very easy to understand. She explained bass techniques I hadn't found anywhere else that made it so much easier to play. Highly recommend. Great for beginners to make sure you start with the correct form.

I have been a student with Hayley for the past 6 years and in the time we have spent together I feel that I have moved from being a person who can play a bass to becoming a rounded musician.
We work on technique, theory, transcription, and repertoire. Hayley seems to intuitively know where I need to focus my effort so that I can maintain my enthusiasm when it comes to practice. I cannot overstate how much more I know about Bass playing and music than I did before I started to study.

I couldnt be happier with my lessons, Hayley is so patient and her communication skills are second to none. I had never picked up a base guitar until start of September and now I can play along to a Fleetwood Mac song Dreams....... I am loving it, and it feels great to learn a new skill.

I would highly recommend Hayley as a teacher - she always explains things so clearly and is able to provide so many additional resources online which she spends considerable time putting together. She allows you to work at your own pace and I didn’t think I’d be this advanced in such a short period of time, especially as I am living in a different State.
