Went on a Tuesday night and we had the whole place to ourselves! Although very surprised that it was so empty. The place is elegant inside although minimalistic. The best thing was to sit near the glass wall facing the river, where you can see the ducks swim peacefully. Just a really great setting. Had their vegetarian pasta which was the best vegetarian dish I ever had! It was very flavoursome. I tried my husband’s salmon pasta, and it wasnt as great as the vegetarian one so kudos for them to nail vegetarian dish! I love the shallots and mushrooms, I still dream of this dish to this day!

Best food we’ve had in Tasmania! Salmon was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and juicy tender flesh, beautiful vegetable salad, tender & tasty lamb and perfect jiggly panna cotta. Service was fun & attentive. Great waterfowl action on the “canal”.

Fine dining googled best restaurants and this little gem came up. Didn't dissapoint.
Entree assorted roasted Mushrooms soo tasty.
I had pan roasted Tasmanian lamp rump with dukkah crusted cauliflower, Apricots, Parsley, pine nuts and tahini yoghurt. Oh my golly flavour delight. My husband had the pan seared duck breast fillet with parsnip and fennel cream sauted glazed beans and mizuna leaves and blueberry jus . Excellent, well done chef

Really lovely casual restaurant. We had a late booking and arrived about 40 minutes early on Christmas Eve. They welcomed us and showed us to a great table. We are light eaters and shared two vegetarian dishes being the risotto and cauliflower sukkah. The wine list has good Tasmanian wines at reasonable prices. The staff were very friendly. We’ll come back because I loved it and wouldn’t mind trying the desserts. They looked fab as they left the kitchen.

Another year has rolled past and due to Christmas holidays, I had time to visit again.

Once again, lovely food. I love the selection of smaller plates. We had fried zucchini flowers, beetroot, chips and tomato tart. The latter was not completely successful. In my opinion, raw tomatoes are not compatible with pastry. As one tried to cut into it, tomatoes bounce about the plate/table!! Roasted caramelized tomatoes would be better. Will pop in again early in new year. Staff are helpful.

My first time at Driftwood Restaurant and boy was it a great experience! The food was delicious and filled with so many delicious flavours! The produce tasted fresh and well chosen! The staff were also a major highlight, extremely professional and extremely punctual! We also had a dietary requirement and the staff went above and beyond to cater for us! The venue is great and obviously an awesome location! Can highly recommend Driftwood restaurant for a delicious and beautiful dinner!

(If there was one thing I had to mention and it wasn’t anything major, if anything it’s just a little bit of feed back, the portion size of the potatoes (sides) was much smaller than expected)

We will be returning again and can highly recommend!

A fantastic restaurant in a charming spot next to the canal. I had the pan seared duck breast fillet which was delightful. Very flavorsome and the searing gave it a nice texture.

The meal gave me a high enough opinion on the restaurant that I didn't want to leave without also trying a dessert. I had the chocolate fondue pudding, the highlight of which was the caramelized white chocolate crumble.

It was quite a relaxing time next to the water on a clear day. The service from the hostess was top notch, friendly and attentive. Everyone there did a great job.

Just had the most fantastic meal, full of flavour, beautifully presented, delicious - all 4 of us agreed it was the nicest meal we had had in a long time. Ruth was her usual quick witted and professional self and our waitress was delightful - a very enjoyable evening - wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

We were so lucky finding this place for our last meal in Tassie. This place is a gem! We arrive late at 3pm and they are still open for lunch on a Sat! Great view facing the ocean & a creek. We ordered Tassie mushroom pappardelle, Trout pate and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Not to mention their panna cotta desert with berries!!! Absolutely a fine dining experience without paying fine dining price. We had a lot of good food but this place takes us by surprise as we thought we are done with Tassie food after 10 days trip but how luckly we were to give it a try (since its on the airport side of town anyway!!!) We definitely will come back next time when we are in Tas again, they mention the menu is changed seasonally also. No photos as we focus absolutely on clearing our plates 😅

One of my favourite go to restaurants for breakfast, lunch or dinner right on the canal in Lauderdale with spectacular views. Varied selection of
wonderfully cooked dishes including vegetarian and GF as well as catering for the kids, all at reasonable prices.

Today's meals included 2 mains, a bottle of wine and dessert.

Driftwood also hosts weddings and parties, good to know.

Staff are welcoming, friendly and are well versed on menu's and accompanying wines.
I would recommend making a booking.

There is parking, though fills up quickly. Street Parking is also an option in a well lit area. Wheel chair accessible.
