We liked it a lot. We ordered mushroom arancini (I would have liked them to be a little larger) and a seafood platter. The platter is huge and all were very good. It is made of a mix of cold and warm items. Subjective, but I would have preferred the prawns to be warm. The sticky date pudding was delicious. Service was excellent. It was quite busy, so I would recommend a reservation.

Great atmosphere and good table service. Ordered Prawn Tacos and Four way Salmon.

Food is excellent.

Make sure to book in advance as the place fills up pretty quickly.

We arrived at the last possible moment before the kitchen closed at Prem’s after the ferry trip across Bass Strait. I had called in advance and was made feel very welcome despite the late hour. Our server, Taylor, was absolutely exceptional. She gave us many tips on places to visit on our tour of the island and was an absolute delight. My Trevalla was fresh and beautifully prepared and the accompanying vegetables were equally well executed. My companions had the chowder, prawns, and salmon three ways as well as an additional salad and beef short ribs. Each item was delicious and attractively plated. I absolutely recommend this restaurant. Thank you for an excellent evening.

While waiting for our night sail on the spirit, we came across this lovely restaurant. When we asked if we could sit with our dog, we were cheerily welcomed. The food was delicious. We enjoyed Tasmanian oysters as we watched the spirit of Tasmania float by. Service outstanding!

What a fabulous restaurant. We enjoyed a lovely meal.... including the seafood platter for 2 (this is a must if you love seafood) and the chocolate mousse and creme brulee. 10 out of 10 for both. Service and atmosphere was wonderful. A perfect end to our tasmania holiday.

Absolutely outstanding, wow, amazing food, service, and value.

My first time at Prems because I've seen and heard outstanding reviews, and they all were positive.

The food is exceptionally great, with amazing flavours and presentation.
Great selection of Tasmanian wines and a wonderful NZ sauvignon blanc as well, great selection.

Don't hesitate to dine at Prems. You will absolutely love it, and Prem and his wife are the most wonderful hosts.

Came for one of their “lunch specials” they run from Mon-Fri and ordered the seafood pasta and the Atlantic salmon. The pasta was delicious and you could tell the seafood they put in was fresh. My only complaint being I found a bone in the salmon and there was a slight lack of seasoning, but everyone’s taste is different. The Salmon was well cooked, and the accompanying veggies nicely seasoned. Service was super friendly and the dishes came out quickly. Loved the outdoor dining area as well.

Went to Prem’s Seafood Bar & grill for dinner whilst in town. Didn’t really know what to expect coming here but it was very enjoyable. Plenty of food options. A bit on the pricey side of things but good quality so. We had the steak and duck which were brilliant. The only thing I would comment on was that I was there for business and my guests plates were removed before I finished eating. I understand this is a no no in the hospitality industry but it made me feel a little uncomfortable and like I had to hurry through. Not a big issue, just something to note. All in all really great and would highly recommend!

Lovely little place in Devonport. Food was great, we had the seafood platter for two and even with three of us, we didn't quite finish it. Great night but really big thumbs up to the staff, friendly and attentive and just lifted the whole place. Great work guys!!

We visited this place just before leaving on the SoT on the 5th of June - Honestly, this is one of the BEST places I have ever been to. From the moment we stood at the door, we were warmly greeted by a staff member - At the time, I didn't know it was the owner of the restaurant, 'Prem' himself and what an amazing man and story he has to tell. You could not find a more entertaining, more personable man anywhere who clearly genuinely cares about each and every single customer, ensuring that everyone has an outstanding experience which is inline with his mission statement on the menu. Food wise, it was exceptional. The price did not match the extreme quality and presentation. A place like this in Melbourne would be charging double the price - quite easily.
If you're after extremely fresh seafood and very high quality steak (like I love) then make this a place to visit before leaving back to Geelong on the SoT, or make it a place to visit when in Devonport. Prem, the owner is a very proud man, and his achievements are remarkable. My family loved it, and have asked to come back again - Which we will do as soon as we can get back to Tasmania. The presentation of the food, the flavours, the attention to detail are amazing. For the price compared to something similar in Melbourne, it's incredible - But in Melbourne, you'd be lucky to find a place like this that delivers such a high quality product, literally straight off the boat across the road. I'm really happy to be able to promote this place. Just look at the pictures - They speak for themselves. No, I am not paid for my independent review and Prem's don't even know I am posting this. This is simply an honest review from a very happy and satisfied customer!

We dined this weekend, just the 2 of us, my wife and I, she was celebrating 36 years in the hospitality industry in Devonport, with an award from her employer and an EFTPOS gift card to spend.

We arrived early and the restaurant was already busy, we asked for an indoor table and was escorted to a table for 2, directly opposite the Bar and close to the pass.

Well, how lucky were we, this was a fantastic position, as we could watch all the activity and buzz of the restaurant. We were so happy. Quite often we will request a table near, or at the pass when we dine in other restaurants around Tasmania.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was just fantastic, all very happy and attentive, a pleasure to watch the team.

Within 3 or so minutes we were asked if we would like to order drinks, so this was a great start. Our bottle of wine (Brown Brothers) was delivered within a few more minutes. In this space of time at least 2 more wait staff asked us if we were being looked after.

We placed our order without fuss, with very knowledgeable staff. All questions were answered without any pauses or having to go and ask anyone. We shared an entrée of the BBQ Beef Short Rib. This was quite delicious, melt in your mouth and very morish. Our only problem was it wasn’t quite big enough to serve for 2. Yes, we should have ordered 1 each.

For mains we both ordered the 300g Grass Fed Eye Fillet, medium rare, pepper sauce and house gravy, with a side of the roasted vegetables.
Our mains were delivered 10 or so minutes after our entrée was cleared, with more drinks ordered. Both our eye fillets were cooked to how we like them, cut from the middle of the fillet, with both very thick cuts. Both were very tender and had heaps of flavour. Our sauces were also prepared well, with plenty of robust taste to accompany the meat. Chips and salad were good, but overwhelmed by the hero of the plate, the steak. Roasted vegetables were also a great addition to the table and were seasoned with what we suspect was an eastern spice.

For dessert we shared a Crème Brulé, that was obviously freshly made, with a beautifully hard shard of sugar, that we cracked with eagerness. Again, we were not disappointed.

Overall, a fantastic night. The floor staff were really outstanding, buzzing from one area to another, very professional and all obviously experienced. Our hostess was also very attentive and leading a very calm and happy team on the night. 10/10 for the FOH staff.

Chefs at the pass were also very professional, with some great looking meals coming out during the night. They truly are the engine of the business. We spotted Andy in the kitchen, from Cradle Mountain and other great restaurants around Tasmania. A pleasant surprise.

Thank you for a fantastic experience, we hope to come back soon…

9/05/23:
Dined here again this week for dinner & we were not disappointed. Was a very quiet night, however we did dine 2 months ago, and the restaurant was at full capacity and the service and food was still outstanding.

We were greeted and sat by our friendly server and ordered drinks. We had our grand daughter with us, so we ordered her Chicken and chips while we waited for another guest.

We ordered an entrée each, 2 x Salmon Plate and the Spare Rib, both very delightful and presented well. A great start as we ordered a bottle of Brown Brothers Sparkling wine.

Main was 2 of the eye fillets with sauces, vegetables & Potatoes’. Andrew ordered the prawns. Another bottle of Brown Brothers Sparkling Wine was ordered and served by our Host, Prem, with a little slice of Theater 😊

A shared Brulé was in order for dessert to cap off another great night.

Another 5 stars for excellent service and Food. Thank you…

I was here for lunch with a friend. The service was very quick and the staff were very knowledgeable. The food was quick to come out and were very large portions for the price point. The food itself tasted exceptional. Definitely the best scallops I have ever had. I would highly recommend a visit.

The entire experience was great, staff and food was excellent. We got all our food within 30 minutes and the menu included kids, non-alcoholic, alcoholic beverages, as well as a seafood section. The seafood chowder, chips, parmigiana, and platter for 2 were lovely. Great restaurant!

This is one of the best meal we had around the north area. We came here on a public holiday, luckily it was open. Food quality was GREAT. I did not take a photo of the steak but it was cooked perfectly, also got the charcoal taste to it, better than many other steak restaurants that we’ve been to! The seafood linguine had a range of seafood in it and was good value for money. We were so glad that we drove from penguin just to visit this place, highly recommended!

The service is good, the waitress is lovely and very polite.

The chowder soup is the best, the seafood mixture is right, soup base is not creamy, match well with the seafood. I cannot find a other chowder soup better than this restaurant. This is a must try dish.

Main meal portion size is big, good value for money. But the taste is just average.

Had the seafood platter and the sticky date pudding. Absolutely sensational! The mussels and their sauce were the highlight. Perfect way to end our trip before getting on the boat (5 min drive away). Thank you so much!

Dined Sunday at 6 pm, so there were not a lot of patrons about, and the service was prompt and pleasant with meal and drink served promptly as well. My friend had an excellent steak - one of the best in a long time, along with a well-made cosmopolitan, and I had crumbed lamb cutlets cooked to perfection. Absolutely delightful atmosphere. Oh, and awesome garlic bread.

We really enjoyed our seafood platter for two. The seafood was so fresh and deliciously cooked. One of the best we have ever had. Heaps to eat.
The service was amazing and the atmosphere was great.
We finished the night off with a Chocolate Mousse for dessert. It was amazing.
