Underwood Wine Bar

Charming delightful little find. Very friendly, welcoming place. Very reasonably priced and lovely atmosphere for quiet get-together or larger event. Cannot recommend Underwood enough.

This place is perfect in every way! Everything feels right from the moment you walk in. The wine suggestions are amazing, found s new favorite. The cheese plate was spot on. Love this place!
Be careful to go in their door and not the wine bar next store (nothing wrong with Public, just not as fantastic as Underwood)

Visited this bar for birthday drinks with friends. Claire the owner was so helpful and friendly for the whole night. The bar has a really cozy atmosphere with intimate seating which also worked well for our small group. The wine and drink list was comprehensive, and recommendations were given when requested. The nibbles were also an excellent pairing with our drinks, and I was very happy to find that they have a “dill pickle chip” option. Would definitely visit again, either with a small group, or a slightly larger gathering.

I’m new to this wine bar, but what a little gem! Have been a few times over the last couple of months and have enjoyed every visit. The courtyard is very cosy with its heater and greenery, and the perfect place to take my dog and hang out with friends over a wine...or three. I’m always greeted with a smile from Claire and her team, and they are very attentive and knowledgeable. The wines are delicious, and snacks are yummy. Already looking forward to my next visit!

This cosy wine bar serves up a much better drop than the overrated joint next door. Too many of the neighbourhood’s wine bars are obsessed with sour, cloudy “biodynamic” wines that are more trendy than tasty. Do yourself a favour and give Underwood a try. And, if in the mood to move beyond wine, try their coffee-infused take on an old-fashioned.

Even on a Friday, even as scores of people move in and out of the venue, it provides a quiet recluse from the chaos of the world. The bar staff are very kind and nice. The mulled wine is amazing!!!

My favourite wine bar in Melbourne! The wine options are comprehensive and there's also options for non wine drinkers. The space has a lovely feel to it, plenty of seating options and the most divine green rear courtyard. Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable.

Love this little wine bar! The wine is tasty and the menu has just been expanded so you can eat some great food while you're there! We loved the wallabe pastrami!

Underwood has been a favourite haunt for a while. Gorgeous cozy space to nurse a glass of wine and have a chat. They pivot to a lovely cellar/cafe/providore in lockdown, so make sure you give them some love. :) Revisited recently and met the new owner who was lovely, and I commended her on keeping the Dirty G&T on the menu!

Cozy bar in an awesome location. The beer and wine selection is amazing and the staff are always up for giving recommendations if your not sure what to order. I had my 30th birthday here on a rainy day and it was such a wonderful event. The owners and staff went out of their way to make it a special day and even opened early for me. Ive been back many times since and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly place to have a drink and a toastie #drool.

Cosy, welcoming, and intimate wine bar. It has a great atmosphere; perfect for date nights or catch ups with friends, and afternoon sips in the sun. Beautiful wines and delicious nibbles to match! They also play amazing tunes! 10/10

Have known the owner Michael for a few years now, I loved the list he produced at a small wine bar in the city and I am wrapped to see he has progressed to owning his own bar.
The wine and beer list are forever changing, with its focus on small local producers, wines are listed under the wine makers name showing Michael has a real connection to the wines he chooses to pour.
The meat and cheese boards are extremely generous and are produced at speed from behind the bar but I can't go past their old school toasties.
To top it off they have a great courtyard which is half covered and heated so available all year round.
Michael arranges regular events and wine tastings which often have a food element involved so keep an eye out for updates.

A hidden gem in Melbourne with knowledgeable and passionate staff who are always happy to help you find a wine you like. Cosy in the Winter time or cute courtyard for the warmer months. So happy this is our local :)
