The Old Laravale School

We had the most amazing few days at Laravale. Wendy is the most wonderful host and the facilities are amazing. We go back every year and absolutely recommend for sewing/quilting/craft retreat.

Our stay at The Old Laravale School was fabulous. Wendy has thought of everything for crafters wanting to get away for a creative retreat. The crafting room in the old school is big airy and well lit with plenty of tables and power board, as well as a fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the classroom so you can keep yourself hydrated and fed.
The accommodation in Willman House is so beautiful, the beds are super comfy and the kitchen has two fridges for all your food and there are coffee machines and every appliance you could want.
Wendy is lovely and popped in to greet us on our first day and then again on our last day
The neighbours cows come to say hello in the morning and the place is just so peaceful and relaxing we left feeling thankful for our four days of crafting in such a wonderful place.
We have booked again for next and cannot wait to return.

We just spent our first weekend retreat at the School after spending 10 years at another venue. Oh my goodness, we are so happy we found the Old Laravale School as it's a way better environment then we were previously going to.

The school - perfectly set up for crafters, the house, the amenities, the views and the situation of the Old Laravale School are all just beautiful. We especially loved that the cows were there to greet us in the morning, such a treat for city dwellers.

Our whole weekend was so relaxing and we were all inspired to create. Wendy has thought of everything and we can't wait to go back again next year. Thank you for sharing your beautiful Retreat with us Wendy.

Always a treat to go to Old Laravale School.
Warm fresh bread on arrival with butter in the fridge and abundant necessities for tea or coffee.
Plenty of wood for a fire and the rooms are always beautifully made up,with plenty of covers for warmth and fresh fluffy towels, with bath gel and shampoo in shower if you have forgotten yours!
Kitchen has everything you could possibly need.
Decor always colourful which adds to ambience.
The school has plenty of space for machines as well as carefully placed electric switches for sewing machines ironing boards and irons ready to use, plus 3 cutting tables.
A board on the wall to hang quilts up to view is also valuable.
Also tea and coffeeis supplied and can be made there on the spot.
We as a regular sewing group love it and always come away satisfied with our sewing and association.

Our craft ladies had such a great weekend, Wendy's hospitality was amazing, house lovely and comfortable with everything you needed, craft room amazing so much space to spread out.
Wonderful place to stay, we will be back.

Amazing weekend of sewing. Wendy was a fantastic hostess, very welcoming. The accommodation was beautiful and comfy. The workroom was enormous and everything we needed. We loved the home cooked bread that was available on arrival. We will definitely be back.

Love this place! Wonderful hospitality and a sewing room that's so spacious it makes sewing with friends such a pleasure. I can thoroughly recommend it. Looking forward to nights by the cosy fire in a couple of weeks time. We keep coming back, it's so good.

Such a lovely, quiet place - the house and school have such history and the location is very relaxing. Wendy is a great host, such a good eye for decoration and willing to help out where ever she can

I am so torn (sorry, bad sewing pun) because if I tell everyone how absolutely fantastic the Old Laravale School is for a craft/scrapbooking/sewing retreat, then the secret is out and we'll have to share it with the whole state! Had an amazing weekend. We did a weekend of scrapbooking and enjoy the view the pizza and the storm. With lots of laughs. The host Wendy was lovely 😀

The owners of this place are amazing. They saved us when we were trapped in the 2022 floods at no notice, let us stay, fed us, and turned what was rapidly turning into a nightmare, into a relaxing pause until the roads were passable again.

Top spot definitely recommend for a weekend away

Lovely accommodation and workspace. Well appointed and all of our needs were met, brilliant hot showers and soft as clouds beds. All we needed was our crafting supplies, food and wine. Town was close enough if we ran out of nibbles. Fabulous hosts

Classic country school...which was the location for a Scenic Rim eat local dinner...with the local Astrological Association... a fun night for all
