The Rum Diary is easily the best rum bar in Melbourne, which itself has a frankly ludicrous selection of fine quality rum drinking establishments. So this is no mean feat. It may not be the biggest, it may not be the loudest (thank God) but what it does have is soul, and plenty of it. The staff are all fantastic, well informed and unbelievably patient (and trust me, I've definitely pushed it), so come here if you are sick of the artifice of so many cocktail bars - rum or otherwise - and fancy relaxing with a gang of people who love their craft.

Visited this bar over the Weekend, great vibe, live music on point but the stand out in this place was the staff. Very friendly and uber efficient. Other places should come here just to see how staff should perform. A1. Will be back again

Great atmosphere and decor, truly focused on the dark golden liquor. Friendly and cheerful bar staff, try their cocktails - delicious! I could've made my way through their list and settled in for the night if I didn't have dinner plans.

Had a wonderful night out on the town. We started at the Rum Diary. It was a cool little place with a great atmosphere and lovely staff. Before long we had Tori who was excited to serve us our first spanish rum flight. Tori also offered some fantastic recommenedations based off our first rums. I was happy to see this bar had some great top of the line rums without me having to buy bottles. They also happily swapped a cocktail for us, again, thank you so much. Unforunatley food was not being served at the time due to covid. Overall I had a great time at The Rum Diary and we will definetly be going back.

Luca served us an awesome spicy cocktail and a delicious shot of vodka whilst recounting tales of her drumming days. Loved the decor and the great staff. The music was incredible on a Thursday night 19/4/18. They did a cover of 'you can call me al' and 'landslide' - who was the performer?

This place has honestly never disappointed. Lovely drinks, great staff, good tunes... Even solid weeknight action. Get amongst it... Or don't, and it will remain a well kept secret.
