Good service

The staff at the Toorak branch are consistently unhelpful. If feels like they are unhelpful as a policy as it’s all the staff. Since this branch changed to a smaller branch the staff say things like, no you need to bank that cheque through the ATM (which is not working and clearly why I’m asking one of the three staff standing around chatting to each other to help me), or no you’ll need to get change from the machine which has run out of change (again which is why I’m asking you or I would have just used the machine). The appropriate response would be to provide the change or bank the cheque and then refill or fix the machines but it’s like these staff aren’t even allowed to give the slightest hint of being in a customer service role.
The only time I have seen decent service is when an older customer comes in where on occasion the staff at this branch might assist. Perhaps the policy of being unhelpful all the time does not apply after a certain age or the staff need to be given formal warnings for the occasions where they have not followed policy and been ageist and helped some people with their banking.
I have given 2 stars and not 1 as probably 75% of the time the machines work and I don’t need to speak with the sullen, unhelpful staff that somehow seem to hang on to a job they do not deserve.

No system to their service. A person who came in after me was served before me. Several people came in and walked out as there was only one staff member serving and no clear queuing system.

I would give 0 star to lady staff who called herself branch manager there if I could. She is the rudest, arrogant staff that I ever met of all the branch. What a disgrace.
Today I visited the Toorak branch and met the same rude lady from the last time , I asked her politely to please help me put a hold on my account which I did a few times before at other commonwealth branch with no problem. But she said no she couldn’t help me, I was very patient to explain to her that I just need to put a hold and it was totally fine to do it, and ask her to open up my account and she would know what I meant. But no she even refused to open up my account to check and kept saying “ I know exactly what you are talking about because I have been a branch manager for 20 years” with a very arrogant attitude. Without listening to customer ‘s needs she always jumped into conclusions that she couldn’t do that and that she didn’t know how the other staff at other branch did that for me, like the last time. I don’t know her name but for sure I will ask for her name next time. I then gave up tried to call the NetBank number to explain what is going on, then another staff at Toorak branch was able to help me with no problem in 2 mins everything solved and confirmed to me that my request was normal and it is legal to do it. Don’t know why the “ branch manager lady” tried to make it so hard for me. I also noticed that she treated senior customers before me much better and I got treated differently, maybe it’s because I’m Asian. First time I experienced this poor customer service that shocked me and after reading all the reviews here I realised I am not the first one and not going to be the last. Hope the head office could see all the reviews here as there are obvious consistencies in complaint and bad reviews.

Not one to post reviews but I have never felt more awkward. I went it to wondering if I could lock a savings account as I am a horrible saver, so I already felt quite awkward asking and the First Lady was nice and went to go ask her manager for me, the manager came out and basically got all rude and began explaining how we can’t do that and they couldn’t help me. Which is fine but I’m not sure why they couldn’t have began offering me other solutions. Almost tempted to close my account with them.

Only a private bank backed by government can still be in business with these kind of reviews. Every time there is new staff and the home finance gentleman today was defensive and argumentative. Learn communication skills and compassion.

Encountered one pleasant staffer at this branch a few months ago, but otherwise atrocious customer service. I note numerous other posts about the same subject. Bank and branch management clearly not listening. Could we have a zero option please for when we rate service less than one star?

Now, 3/4 of an hour after my unsatisfactory experience at the Commonwealth Bank branch in Toorak, the cheque from a little lottery win I wanted to deposit into an account I hold in trust for one of my grandchildren has safely sailed into the desired account at the Batman’s Hill branch. Same bank, same system, different branch and much better staff.

Rude male staff! Worst customer service ever seen in a BANK

If i can give a 0 star to Arie from Toorak CBA i will. Rudest person I’ve ever dealt with, what a disgrace to the CBA’s name. Went to Malvern, did exactly what i need in 5 minutes. Do yourself a favour, stay away from CBA Toorak. Very unprofessional and rude.
