Hook N Cook

Hook N Cook is the best fish and chip shop I’ve had in a very long time. The flathead fish is coated in a very light crispy batter and the chips are golden fried to perfection, not a soggy chip in sight (seriously)! Great value meal deal options are available and are excellent value. We went here twice during our stay at Jimmy’s Beach it was that good! Lots of seating options outside by the water to enjoy your meal. I love that they have a self serve salt / sauce area so you can control how much or little as you want too.

Simple take away. Fresh fish in a thin batter. You could actually taste the fish! Chips were good. Everything was served piping hot. Service was prompt and friendly. Self-serve sauce and salt at no extra charge. Waited ten minutes at most for fresh cooked food. Lovely view of the water from tables out the front. Fantastic!

Best fish and chips I have ever had. The batter, so light and cooked to golden crunchy, crisp perfection. The fish was deliciously moist and just yum, yum yum!! Chips...so crunchy. Thank you!!! Sitting outside on a beautiful sunny day, looking at the water...just perfect! To tell you the truth, the whole world around me melted away for the first two fillets of fish. All I could focus on was the deliciousness of that fish!! Oh my!! Sooo good!!! Thank you again!! Awesome memory of my visit to Tea Gardens.

Absolutely recommend having a serve of fish and chips here. Decent serve and lovely. Not over cooked at all was perfect. Staff are great too. Sit outside at their tables or walk across the road and eat by the river.

I'll start the review by saying my eldest said it was the best hamburger he'd ever had, he practically inhaled it. I had the grilled Barra and chips, good portion size and well cooked. Lovely view over the river. Good variety of options on the menu. Well worth a try

Shop is cozy, opposite to lake and ambience is nice.
If you savour fresh (only) fish then this is your place.

You can ask for only batter fish and no chips, if you are not big fan of chips.

Price is not expensive.
Basic fish they use is baramundi, although they have other varities.

If you are looking for mouth watering seafood, with the friendliest owners, I have found you the place. Hook ‘n Cook is a short drive from the Pacific Motorway and is the perfect spot to stop and have a delicious meal with a stunning view. You’ll find it across the road from the Myall River in Tea Gardens, where you can find plenty of parking, tables at the water’s edge or inside the air conditioned shop.

The menu includes a large range of seafood and non seafood options at very reasonable prices, as well as a huge range of drinks and ice creams. I especially love the self serve station for all your sauce and salt needs.

While you wait for your tasty takeaway, you can relax in the aircon and watch TV or marvel at the fascinating themed decorations and collectables decorating the walls. They even have an ATM.

We were in the Tea Gardens at the beginning of the Easter break & had the best fish & chips here.

We had ordered their cocktail plus chips meal which is essentially 6 fish cutlets battered & deep fried along with chips. Just 1 meal between the two of us was more than enough as we aren't big eaters.

Their prawn cutlets were a bit of a disappointment though. But all in all this is a great place for a meal if you're visiting.

Loved this take away. Staff were lovely and engaging. Ambience was awesome with memorabilia on the walls to keep you occupied while waiting..the fish burgers were fresh and tasty. Chips were crispy and moist. I love a good takeaway with passion put into their menu. Great job guys. Thanks

Snapper & chips were top notch; light batter, clean taste, well portioned serving. Highly recommended.
