An almost magical experience. This is an amazing and unforgettable hike. Most of this walk is made up of stone and timber stairs and contains sections where the stairs are quite steep, both going down and on the way up. There are plenty of spots to stop and rest while viewing the scenery. Allow extra time for the rest stops and for the extra time you will need for stops to take photos. Have good shoes that can grab on wet stone steps. There are many wet sections on the trail and muddy puddles after rain. Check for local warnings online before you head off. There is no short cut back when you are in the gorge.

Wonderful and refreshing hike. We caught some heavy rains at the bottom and it just made the experience even better. It is a mandatory hike to complete in the Blue Mountains. You can take the bus up to some distance in the Evans lookout road and it's a 2km walk from the last stop to the starting point of the grand canyon track near Evans lookout.

Beautiful track that takes you through gorges, caves, waterfalls, creeks, ending up with amazing Cliff top view (if doing counterclockwise)

Take bus 698 from Katoomba. Strongly recommend doing this in the morning and head back to Katoomba for 3 sisters because not many buses going to Evans Lookout. Current timetable does not have buses between 1.40-3.30 pm so you will need to rush through all the stairs to catch the last bus (6.30 pm back). I can finish the track in around 1hour and 40 mins with only a couple of water break. It’s because I started counterclockwise so I am not climbing up the wet, steep stairs but descending. But note that from carpark to bus station is a 30-40min walk.

Lots of stairs so make sure you don’t have knee and hip injuries. You will also pass through creeks, caves, and some wet stairs. There is one bigger pond but I don’t think it’s suitable for swimming. The water is cool and refreshing.

It’s amazing that this track offers a diverse range of landscapes, from caves, gorges, waterfalls, creeks, to the top of canyon with spectacular panorama. If you want to get away from the tourists in 3 sisters trail, make sure you pay a visit to this place and/or the nearby Clifftop track.

This is the best rainforest hike in the greater Sydney area and the best hike in the blue mountains. It's far from Sydney but very much worth the travel. There are plenty of waterfalls and lovely green scenes throughout. Be warned that there's a lot of ascending and descending at the start and end of this trail.

We loved this track so much on our dusk walk with the family. It was like a magical fairyland with the river crossing stones and moss, flow worms in the rocks and stone stepped pathways winding through rock walls. Just gorgeous. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
It's a bit of a steep walk so take your time.
Never shine torches at the glow worms and never touch them. Be respectful of nature and enjoy the magic.
Free park entry and parking.
Close to town.

Trekking the Grand Canyon in the Blue Mountains counterclockwise provides a unique experience, allowing you to appreciate the breathtaking scenery in a different way. It’s steep climb to the end but you will be granted with beautiful views from Evan’s lookout. You can explore diverse flora and fauna while experiencing the thrill of challenging terrains. The trek is a perfect blend of adventure and natural wonder, making it a must do trek.

Happy to have finally done this walk, it was not too hard , my six year old was ok until the end even after climbing the steep hill to Evans lookout. I definitely recommend ending the walk with the lookout, it makes the walk back up really worth it. It took us 2.5 hours including a stop for lunch.
I would still consider the Wentworth Falls walk my favourite though. we will keep exploring the area!

The track is about 3 to 4 hours but it is worth every step you take down to the canyon and to the top. Amazing habitation and pathways carved by people so that we can go and visit these amazing places. A big thank you to them! Take water and some snacks you will love this place.

Was an amazing trek , did it anti-clockwise, took 3 hours for a 7.5 kms trek down n up many times , through a tunnel , many waterfalls , nature in bounty , great experience, carry food n water 💦, place for pictures. Can spend a whole day in the midst of nature. Rains can make it difficult as water gushes out everywhere

Amazing hike! It is not too hard, but also be aware there are a lot of stairs, as you'll be basically walking down to the canyon and then up again.
Concerning time, I would say around 2h hours if making no stops and walking at steady pace.
Also, it is a bit colder down at the canyon compared to the top at the viewpoint.
The views from the vieepoint are amazing.

This has to be the best walking track in the Blue Mountains, which is saying a lot. Great workout too. Starts with a fantastic valley view, winds down through dry scrubby bush into deep and dark rainforest. A must do if you're in the Blue Mountains.

Very beautiful hiking loop. Better to walk morning and evening during summer. Avoid rainy season for hiking. It will be slippery. Amazing views and beautiful trails and nature. Enjoyed the walk.

We loved this track. We have been travelling for 1.5 months in New Zealand and Australia and this is now our most liked track.

We started at the Carpark for Evans lookout and walked anti-clockwise. Firstly, this takes you away from the lookout and close to the Street for 15 min and then you decend to the great canyon walk for about 1.5 h (no stops) or about 2.5 with heaps of stops to take in the scenery before you ascend to the lookout and are done without having to walk a lot after the ascend.

The track is very well maintained but there are a lot of wet stones to cross, so where good footwork and you will be fine!

We took a lot of breaks for fotos and to take in the views.

We mainly took videos but some pictures are attached! Enjoy!

One of the prettiest rainforest walks in the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains (when you get down the steepish mountain and lotsss of stairs)
Take a refreshing splash in the creek and pictures for your insta worthy cause and then climb up many more stairs and see lots of pretty ferns, mini waterfalls through the rocks, maybe some birds. It's just gorgeous. If you stop alot and admire the views this walk will take you around 3 hours. No bathrooms obviously so use the public ones at carpark before you start the walk.

Amazing walk. Takes you to the Ccanyon, waterfalls, fantastic views. A lot of steps to go down and out. I would recommend to fo it anticlockwise. Seems to be easier and more interesting. Loved every minute.

One of the best trails I've ever been in NSW.

It passes through creeks, waterfalls, caves, huge ferns, and lots of steps, making it a really interesting walk. It was like there was a surprise at each turn.

We went anti clockwise and it was an easy walk until the seemingly-never-ending stairs back up at the end. Either way you go, there are a lot of stairs. If you go clockwise (starting at Evans Lookout), the steps to climb back up is gradual, but over a larger distance so takes time. And there's only a carpark greeting you up there.

If you go anti-clockwise, there's lesser number of stairs to climb during the hike, and just one steep set of stairs at the end. The view at Evans Lookout as you finish the last set of stairs is worth it, and there are benches to admire the view while you catch your breathe back after climbing all those stairs.

Totally the best one day, round course, hike in the blue mountains. Highly recommended for all ages!
So much to see, really beautiful! Waterfalls, a rain forest, super interesting rock formations.
We did the hike with our parents (late 60s) and our girls - 6 and 3 year old. The 3 year old needed help but everyone else were fine. Takes about 4-5 hours, we did two long stops for a picnic. If you just walk through it you can finish it in about 1.5 hours.
There is a big decent in the beginning and a climb at the top, regardless of where you start, so the direction doesn’t really matters, we finished at the lookout which was great, a reward for the hard work, but you can also start from there.
Highly recommended!

Grand Canyon track is one of the top hiking trails in the Blue Mountains. It is not easy because of the multiple steps up, but the views and the canyon make up for it

One of the best walking tracks in NSW by far! The loop is very well maintained and is quite stunning overall. We went off the main track for some parts of it and those were the best parts of the hike and fun if you like a bit of adventure.
