Mountain View Hotel

We stopped for lunch on Friday. I had the steak, wife had the ravioli. Not the typical pub meal, 5 star restaurant quality. Great chilled atmosphere. Great selection of local beers and wines which really showcase the best of the region. The best meals we have had in as long as we can remember.

My son and I had dinner at the Mountain View. Cold outside and cosy warm inside. The Parma and gnocchi were great, coming out surprisingly fast. The staff were awesome and very knowledgeable of the local wines on offer.

Excellent pub on the main road of Whitfield. Great convivial atmosphere for a chilly Wednesday. Our server was excellent, even taking a photo of my daughter and I at the end of our meal. The food was fantastic, especially the barramundi special. Would dine here again.

I loved this place, the food was beautiful cooked and prepared. The atmosphere was peaceful, lush and green. The staff were super friendly and accommodation. The only downside was the cost of my Barramundi ($48), which was the days special - they didn't advise the cost and the size of the dish (I was still hungry after). I would definitely go back again (and maybe order off the specials).

Beautiful place surrounded by trees amidst nature. They provided a complimentary breakfast which was really good for the elderly people in the group. The food is awesome. They heated up our home cooked food for someone who cannot have outside food which is really a nice gesture. Very helpful and friendly staff in the hotel.

April 2024- we ate here on a Saturday night and it was really lovely. The dining room is well decorated, the service is friendly, the pub is located on the centre of town, the drinks and food are well priced and it is not noisy which makes for a pleasant meal.
We ordered the MVH fried chicken which was a very substantial entree, followed by the lamb backstrap and side of seasonal vegetables. All were very tasty.
Would definitely return if in the area.

My partner and I had dinner here last night for our anniversary, and we can not speak highly enough of the experience.
The food was amazing, and service was fast. The staff were very friendly, knowledable and attentive, they anticipated your needs before you had to ask for anything. Highly recommend if you're looking for a place to eat in King Valley.

What’s not to love. Beautiful setting; excellent service; yummy food and great choice of reasonably priced wines. I’ll be back and highly recommend.

Thank you to all at the Mountain View & Pizzini Wines for a fantastic weekend stay. Compliments of a birthday present, my wife & I enjoyed the Food & Wine Experience including the magnificent 4 course meal and then a tasting at Pizzini (hosted by the wonderful Chas).

A massive thanks to everyone at the pub, especially Laura & the lovely Irish girl (sorry we missed your name) who looked after us so well on Friday night).

Can't recommend the Food & Wine experience highly enough (not to mention the wonderful hospitality throughout the King Valley- Christmont Wines, Politini, Dal Zotto & Hobbledehoy Cafe).

We visited as a group of 6 and would thoroughly recommend! The food was outstanding! Our friend who judges restaurants by their crème brûlée (and makes it herself) said that it was one of the best she has had, in a long time!
We all had a great time and were very impressed with all the staff. Well done and we will definitely be back!

Excellent food & atmosphere and really lovely staff. So sorry I’ve forgotten your name but the waitress with the pickle rick tattoo you were great and recommended a fantastic dish from the menu!

Ate here over Easter Long weekend in the gorgeous outdoor garden space. Service was absolutely incredible, all the staff were very lovely.

The scotch fillet steak was excellent! 😋
Service was informative, friendly & prompt.
The deck over a meandering stream, was very serene.

Thank you for another wonderful lunch on Wednesday this week.
We had the steak deal which includes a glass of sannguvese with the steak, salad and chips. All cooked to our individual liking, with our choice of sauce. $30
It was once again delicious. Perfect.
We are from the Mornington Peninsula and have visited the restaurant twice this year.
Great Staff, Beautiful surroundings and wonderful food.

Great location and setting, efficient, friendly service, great food and drink at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

It was well worth the drive to Whitfield. The pub meal was excellent, beer battered flathead, chicken parma, fresh salad and non greasy chips.

Didn't see the view of the mountains but I can honestly say I had the best day watching the football with my boys and baes.

It was my friend Michael's birthday 🎉 party and we had very yummy fireball and apple juice drinks.

The food was good and the service friendly. But not too friendly. Good times were had all round.

Best pub in the King Valley by a country mile...

Food, beer and staff get 12 out of 10...
