Cape Jaffa Lighthouse Cottages

We stumbled upon this. Turned off just before the 4wd track and parked in the 2wd car park where there is signage for the walk down to the old cottages. The walk was great- it had signage about all the plants in the area including historical uses and how to propegate them. Very interesting. Also heaps of birds and beautiful wild flowers.

The walk itself was fairly easy- 2kms of lovely coastal shrubbery and you're at the cottage ruins. Great view of the ocean and there is also a little walk down to the beach. Recommend if you are okay with a little walk. Cool history of the area

Originally thought it's a BNB place, but once the track turned sandy knew we made a mistake but we're committed to getting there. The beach behind the ruins is gorgeous, however, would have to ride your luck in a 2wd car.

Worth a look good history

Road very sandy no warning signs that the road would recommend 4wd only as I had to get SES help out got bogged in the sand with front wheel drive.

Beware there is a complete lack of directional signage to them. If you follow the 4WD track along the E border take the 1st 4WD track to your right and you'll eventually find them. There is a well marked walking track with arrows but NO info about where it goes. That walking track will take you back to a 2WD track that branches off R at the start of the 4WD track. Once again there is no signage telling you that the arrows direct you to the lighthouse cottages ruins.

It's ok probably need 4wd to access , could do with some more information (how ever the information provided on site was very interesting) and a couple more spots for a picnic

Don’t go there if your car is not a 4wd car. Soft sand will get bogged like me.
