We had dinner tonight at Tai Wah - what an incredible experience! Have heard these are the best dim sims in Melbourne and they did not disappoint, absolutely sensational.

The Cantonese beef was another highlight, such tender and delicious meat, and the special fried rice was excellent too.

Love the decor too, place looks like it’s a time capsule from 1983 but in the best way possible, waiter was super friendly and food came out at a good pace.

Awesome prices too!!

Cannot recommend Tai Wah highly enough, will definitely be coming back in the future!

A visit to Tai Wah is like stepping back into your youth. This is old fashioned Aussie Chinese food that hasn’t changed in 40 years. The decor and the prices also haven’t changed much either and being able to get soups for around $4.00 and mains between $9-$12.00 is amazing... They still have Australian food listed at the back of the menu - I felt like a child again!
We ordered special fried rice and special chop suey and it was delicious. I often think we have gone too far with some foods, making them way too complex and fancy. Sometimes you just need some saggy daggy Chinese food and I am thrilled to still be able to find it here at Tai Wah. The big draw card for us however, is the dim sims. They are magnificent dense balls of slightly sweet beef wrapped in wonton skins and are fabulous. Judging by the number of locals calling in for a half dozen or so for lunch, these are their biggest sellers. We also buy a couple dozen for the freezer. Staff are so very friendly as well... Do yourself a favour and check out this “frozen in time” restaurant... Highly recommended... 😋

This place is a Mentone treasure. A throwback to the 1980s, and let's face it, it's been due for renovations for 30 years. But the food is still good and that's why they're still around.

Best Dim Sims in Melbourne hands down, no questions asked! I always get a couple of fried dimmies for the car home and then a couple of steamed to heat up the next day. I also love the lunch/dinner box special which includes a dish from the menu and fried rice for around 12$ and it’s a big serve! Love the place and have for 20 years.

All dishes are amazing. Beef melts in your mouth, Chicken is lovely and juicey,
Veggies crunchy. Special fried rice with heaps of prawns n pork.

I have eaten the restaurant and had take away countless time and it’s always 5 star.

PS the dim sims are the best in Melbourne. I believe!!!

Ok the Dim Sims here are nothing like you've had before. They're off the effin hook. No 🧢 frfr. I would eat these dim sims on Christmas day. If it was a choice between Xmas pudding or tai wah dim sims for dessert I'd probably eat the dim sims.

Small place but the food is delicious and the staff are wonderful. Definitely going back again. Don't let the front and decore fool you.

This restaurant has not changed its great food recipes, this is why it’s the best.
When the original owner sold the restaurant many years ago, a very good business man saw the potential and kept everything the same especially the dim sims.
Vito and his wife work very hard and long hours to make this restaurant the best, as well as keeping all of Gordon’s traditions.
Five stars is not enough as the owner and his wife deserve a higher rating.
You can either order take away or eat in, either way you will be impressed.
Did I mention the Dims Sims and how good they are, well they are the best in the universe. If I was taking a trip to the moon I’d pop in and grab some steam dims sims and chilli chicken, not to mention a large spring roll.
You have not lived until you have tried the dims sims.
