State Theatre

I hadn't been to the State Theatre for years but went 7.1.24 to see Circus 1903 which was brilliant. So funny and the performers were so skilful. The first time I came here was as a teenager to see Anything Goes which was a fantastic experience and instilled in me a love of theatre and live performance. State Theatre about 5 min walk from station and inside Arts Centre.

We were here for the circus 1903 (It was amazing show) the theatre itself was good as well. It was clean and chic. Very well located within the city area, while you may need to park your car a bit away from the theatre.

Events are back on in Melbourne. Choreography is astounding in Instruments of Dance.
Orchestra was brilliant.
Must see.

What an amazing venue. It has really good sight lines. Great sound and lighting and is really special when seeing a show.

I’ve been here a few times, today I was here to watch Phantom of the opera. What an outstanding performance, there is nothing as satisfying as watching highly capable people doing their craft at their best. First time seeing it and loved it. The theatre space is always clean and dignified, no complaints from my end, the bar is stocked with pleasant refreshments. A great experience all around

We went to see a packed show of a circus. The theatre has a well designed architecture. Multiple entry doors, proper signboards.Clear view of stage even from balcony. Excellent light and sound.

Saw a wonderful production of Rent during an unexpected overnight on our New Zealand cruise. Great seats and easy location to the river walk, where we also had an excellent dinner at Ludlow’s.

Easy access to seating, helpful staff at all strategic areas. It's a favourite place for me as I have watched many shows here. Have just watched Phantom Of The Opera- fantastic show

You cannot tell from the outside, but this theatre is quite pretty inside.

Seats could be placed a bit better so that people in each row are not sitting directly behind the person infront, getting their view directly blocked by people’s head.

Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed the show.

Great venue, cozy & impressive at the same time. Quite a few stairs down to Stalls, but excellent views & comfortable seating

Melbourne is getting back to normal. The city was buzzing with activities. Theatre busy and plenty of shows to watch. Parking around State Theatre was easy to find. Recommended booking online.

Beautiful theatre, love the entrance too. We went to see the Phantom of the Opera and it did not disappoint. The set was amazing and the stage was fab. Only issue was the sound could have been a bit louder. It was hard to hear things at times.

State theatre is beautiful and me and my friends went here for an event called Blackout which was a queer event and I must say it was marvelous.

Great theatre with great views. It's underground so don't expect any mobile coverage. Find your peeps before going in. Or under.

We sat in row D, seats 31 and 32 in the circle and we had fantastic unobstructed views!! It's worth paying a little more to be in the circle especially since the seats are elevated with each row going up.

The Phantom of the Opera was such an incredible experience ❤ everyone performed so well and the orchestra was outstanding.

Tip - download your tickets or screenshot them because there is no reception downstairs by the entry doors.

I was in a performance at this place and I found it to be very amazing. I found it to be rather hot and had no windows because I was in the lower level but it was still a great experience. There was a lot of room and plenty of areas to practice in and the stage was amazing. The audience was so big that i saw spare seats because of how many their were. I recommend going to this place if you want to perform or watch an incredible performance.

Old theatre but in a good condition. We went to see Phantom of the Opera and the sound was good with a good vision of the stage.

Had a chance to enjoy "The Phantom of the opera" here, and I can state that it is one of the best theaters in town. Such a good organization and friendly staff work to make your experience great!Deeply appreciate your efforts!!!

We had a wonderful night and the venue is amazing and easy to navigate. The performance of Rent was spectacular.

The State Theatre holds wonderful memories. She was the first Theatre mum took me to a show at all those decades ago and I love going back as her acoustics are brilliant. A fabulous venue for Phantom Of The Opera - my theatrical indulgence today. A timeless venue so adept at hosting the widest range of theatrical genres.
