Nasi Lemak House

I got the beef rendang nasi lemak for around $19.

I really enjoyed this a lot. The beef was soft and tender, and has a nice flavour to it. The rendang was actually spicy and flavourful, which I don’t find often here. The sambal was really good as well, giving the full kick of what I’m familiar with. The rice was fragrant, and mixed really well with the rendang. This place definitely tastes authentic and the portions are massive as well.

I highly recommend this place if you wanna try some nasi lemak.

We started our weekend right by visiting one of the OG Malaysian restaurants in Melbourne on 12th August and we got:

🍗 Fried Chicken Nasi Lemak
Served with Traditional Spice. This was one of the first meals I had when I arrived in Melbourne in 2017 and the quality is still the same! The chicken was perfectly cooked & stayed juicy, great to combine with the warm rice & sambal. Loved the crunchy touch from the fried nuts & anchovies 🤤

🍗 NL Spice Bag
This was their new menu! A great portion as a grab & go snack, cooked in aromatics so it smelled sooo good when we opened the bag. The sweet & spicy sauce as dipping added another flavors layer to this savory snack.

🍔 Spicy Sambal Chicken Burger
This has become Andrew’s favorite! It’s quite spicy if you’re not used to the heat 🥵 but perfect for the burger itself. The chicken had a crispy outer layer which locked the juice in. Great dish to appeal to a non-asian 😜

🍹 Cold Teh Tarik & Sirup Bandung
These drinks were fresh, sweet & tasty! Great to break up the greasy food (in a good way!!)

Overall, you can’t go wrong with ordering any dishes here cause they’re THAT good! The place was a bit small and it got busy so quickly so you better beat the lunch/dinner rush or come afterwards. The portion was hugeee & good for the price. We 100% recommend you to dine here ‼

I have been a fan of NLH since it opened in 2004 by Auntie Elena. Aline & Marcel took over from 2008 and have maintained the good quality level of their nasi lemak ever since! It is the sambal that makes their nasi lemak stand out, and whenever I crave it, I invariably end up there. This time, I went for their Spicy Sambal chicken burger. It was delicious, a generously thick juicy piece of boneless chicken, crunchy on the outside! I also sampled their new spice bag, for those who love chips and fried boneless chicken pieces. Not great for my waistline but my taste buds love it. And their own brand of Teh Tarik! Not too sweet, just the right amount of milky goodness to balance out the fragrant tea. To round out their range, they do a reasonable nasi goreng, mee goreng, char koay teow and curry laksa too.

Delayed review but I can tell everyone this place serves one of the best Nasi Lemak. If you can take the heat than traditional sambal is the best - authentic like how you get it in Malaysia! Definitely will come again if I'm in Melbourne.

A very nice dinner for my first Malaysian food experience! We ordered the 'Spicy Sambal Chicken Burger', the 'Nasi Goreng Chicken' that was served with a HUGE delicious omelette on top and the 'Char Kuay Teow Chicken' that was so good with their added housemade sambal!

Best laksa I have had in Melbourne, no kidding. I have been on a search and mission to find the best laksa and I believe to date, I have found a winner.
I had the chicken laksa, spicy. The spicy version is quite hot and I literally went through a Lipton ice tea to help me deal with the spiciness. It was amazingly delicious though. The quantity of noodles, both Hokien and rice noodles, together with bean sprouts was perfect. The chicken in the laksa was fried chicken from another dish they may serve there but it really worked. It’s been a few days since I ate there and I’m already thinking about when I can go there next.
The place itself is very basic as are the table and chairs. Don’t expect a setting that is better than street food.

Cosy little eatery with outdoor seating in front of the shop. The nasi lemak with chicken curry was delicious and very authentic. The drinks option was small but interesting. Definitely worth returning to try their other menu options such as beef rendang. #nasilemak

A spicy food lover’s delight, I was swooned by the flavours of their Nasi Goreng and Me Goreng!

The noodles have a nice tension and gauge comes in decent quantity as well. The flavors are legendary ; it’s just excellent! A sweet, salty and spicy combo that works so well - very balanced and tasty.

and how can one miss a side of chicken wings, droolworthy!

The other day, we had a mind blowingly delicious and authentic Malaysian lunch @nasilemakhouse Where you will find all the best Malaysian cuisines in their menu from Nasi Lemak, to Mee Goreng to Nasi Goreng to Laksha to beverages like Teh Tarik.

But the one dish here that stands out from the rest of the Malaysian food joints is the Spicy Fried Chicken Sambal Burger, which is unique yet so delectable at the same time. A filling burger with a huge fried chicken thigh, that is so crunchy on the outside and juicy in the inside, laced with spicy sambal sauce and slaw. It's so irresistible and will definitely make you fall in love with this place.

Also we had, Seafood Mee Goreng which are fried Hokkien noodles, the spice level of which you can choose. We opted for medium spicy and it was such a mouth watering dish full of flavors and seafood, with their generous portion, it's perfect to share between two people.

We had chicken wings with chilli mayo amd the wings were exceptionally crispy, juicy yet tender in the inside, making it such a yummy side.

Teh tarik, hot, I've always been a fan of Teh Tarik and their scintillating aroma and the flavor was so authentic and reminded me of all those layover moments at Kuala Lumpur airport while traveling back home to India.

So guys, definitely checkout @nasilemakhouse And their original yet immensely delicious Malaysian food menu. Moreover, their service is quick and the staff are real helpful and kind.

I came here for a dinner with friends. Wonderful experience. Nice little space and the staff was very hospitable and friendly. We ordered Nasi Goreng, Char Kuay Teow and Mi Goreng. All the food was tasted great. The meat was tender and juicy and the rice had just the right stickiness and savoury taste. Apart from that the servings were very generous. Would love to come here again for sure!

Awesome Nasi Lemak, my go to restaurant as a Malaysian seeking an authentic taste of home. I’d recommend trying all their dishes because I have not been dissatisfied a single time!

A decent Halal Malaysian restaurant. The Nasi Lemak is definitely a must-try, with similar resemblance to the ones back in Malaysia. Other dishes are worth trying as well. Ordered the Chicken Char Kuay Teow with extra noodles at an extra $2 (definitely worth it!). Expect slightly longer waiting times though.

Finally able to enjoy my Nasi Lemak with their vego option. Great sambal and also other than Nasi Lemak, their Char Kway Teow also tasted really good. Never disapoint in my every visit.

I love this place, me and my daughter had nasi lemak with fried chicken and laksa seafood and they're both satisfying.
Its near Unimelb just walks away.

This place, as the name suggests, serves some decent Malaysian food! Whether you are in the mood for laksa or nasi lemak, you will have your fix here. The serving sizes are huge as well. One order per person is more than enough and will be so filling to some even. Get a bottle of teh tarik to drink to complete the dining experience.

Here you can enjoy one of the best nasi lemak in melbourne. The price was reasonable and most important the food was delicous and in big portion. The staff, Kamarul also was very friendly.

Thoroughly enjoyed their nasi lemak chicken chop and nasi goreng. Really tasty and one of the best chicken chops I've had!

Went here specifically for the 'spice bag' which is similar to salt and pepper chips in the UK and loved it. Also got a mee goreng and nasi goreng and they were both delicious!

The Nasi lemak was flavourful. Especially with fried chicken! Very mouth watering. Will come back again for sure 🥵🥰😍
