We took a short detour to visit and it was worth it. Wonderfully preserved piece of history. Often these things are not accessible to people, but this one is. There is good signage explaining what you're looking at, a short loop walk to see the dredge from all sides and a few other pieces of equipment and an old mine shaft surrounding the dredge. There were only a couple of other cars so we had room to turn our van and park on the side of the road.

What a giant dredge imagine what it was like when running, I read you could hear it running from 10km away

Clem, go check out the dredge, imagine that you're in resident evil and zombies are going to pop up out of the water, well creepy.
It's pretty cool to look around and see how it all works.
If you get inside it's even cooler...

Historic town nestled in an attractive mountain setting. Points of interest are the lake on the outskirts of town, a lookout, the gold dredge and a pub reputed to be the smallest in Victoria.

Great place to come and experience the old Eldorado dredge. Great place to stop and go for a walk and learn the history of the dredge.

Not farfrom Wangaratta is this fascinating piece of mining history. It is the last intact (sort of) ore dredge in Australia. Laying in the final pond it created, it is such a huge piece of machinery to have been abandoned. Unlike years ago, the inside is now accessible to view the dredge's internal machinery. An easy 600 m walk takes you through the wattle-covered alien landscape of the dredge's extensive tailings.

The dredge is a great place to explore and learn about gold mining history. There’s also a great walk around the outside. If you’re in to old abandoned places this is perfect for you.

A great place to step back in time and explore the area and see the Gold rush era history. Plenty of places to see and also a great spot for a swim in the river or the Top Cut dam.

Great to see the old dredge still there as I did about 40 years ago with my grandfather, it was great to cast my memory back to then, & also imagine it back into the old ways of minning. Great asset to keep for future people to see something amazing, & learn about something that no longer used or around.

A little hidden gem of a town... Sunday Museum is open.. Bakery is to die for, pub is the best. Tiny community minded pub. The dredge is worth a visit.. Creepy and fascinating.

This place is eerie. Stop and check this whole town out. The old dredge feels like something out of a horror movie. It makes creepy noises as the wind blows through and is very silent. Loved it!!!

Fascinating historical site with an old gold dredge still visible on a man made lake (created by gold dredging) I think you can still walk inside the dredge an see photos of how it worked?

Reid's Walk is a quiet, but beautiful little trail that takes around 30-40 mins walk for a return trip walk. You can still see signs of its gold mining past littered throughout the walk, and you get to see a small old rustic bridge at the end of the walk. Fyi you can't walk over this bridge, but it's a fascinating find, if you are into your history and seeing these sorts of things. A very nice stop over, if you're looking for things to see and do between Sydney and Melbourne.

Quiet backwater village, whose heritage speaks of the vibrant mining days, well preserved, still a living community today. The gold dredge a magnificent reminder of the industry and mechanisms of the past.
