Staff were very lovely. The barista takes time to do the coffees and makes them to perfection. Worth the wait. Food is good and bread is fresh. They go frogs in the pond and jelly slices. Desserts you don't see often in the city.

Excellent pie. Good chunks of beef. Perfect shortcrust bottom and flaky puff top. Held its shape beautiful whilst enjoyed being eaten. Minimal crumb which is bonus when your on the road, I had plain steak and my husband had steak and bacon, seriously one of the best pies we’ve had in our lap around Australia. Well done 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

The bakery claims they have won awards on their pies so we tried it. We were not disappointed! We tried the steak and bacon, and pepper steak. All good pies for me.

They also sell coffees, sandwiches, cookies and donuts. Will recommend.

Great coffee and coconut slice. A good selection of cakes, slices, sandwiches and pies.
Caution the resident cockatoos are a real pain in the common eating area knocking off a patrons cake - kept a firm grasp on mine 😂

I would never ever have entered this place had I seen the reviews first. It’s always better to go and make a judgement for yourself.

While the staff may not be the friendliest (not that we noticed) their food is amazing. I have 2 world class picky eaters. I bought 6 doughnuts, 4 pasties and a croissant, thinking we could share them as a family once we got to our destination. However once we reached the destination there was hardly anything left for us all. The few bites left were amazing.

On behalf of the entire Challenge organisation, I would like to thank Grandma Shields Bakery for their amazing support! Not only did they provide us with Lunch (and it was absolutely delicious!!!!), but they also made a donation to our organisation, which supports children and families living with cancer. I strongly recommend anyone to pay a visit to this bakery because not only do they have the best meat pies in all of Lorne, but they are a fantastic bunch of people!

I have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. Great bakery food, fresh rolls and the best vanilla slices around. Thanks to the friendly owners who have survived a tough year ... Let's hope you can continue to support the local community and allow me to also enjoy a nice snack and coffee whenever I'm in town. J & L.

Ive been a long term 'weekend' customer of GS over the years and they have never, ever let me down. GREAT quality coffee for a smaller bakery and pastries and sandwiches are always fresh. There is huge competition on the Lorne strip to survive so it is testament that it has been there so long. Always popular with tourists and locals. Best Coffee Scrolls in the state!

Such a fantastic selection, ready to go or a quick toasting, got a schnitty roll and also a sausage roll that hit the spot perfect for a starved tradesman, delicious and great value for the area! Even better they had a photo of a group of postie bikes! im into that!

We toured most of Australia and Tasmania this holiday, or vacation for us westerners. We'be been on the hunt for a truly excellent bakery. Well, we found it here. Tasty, flaky croissants, fresh coffee, and a myriad of other baked goods. They actually put real chocolate inside their chocolate croissants, rather than skimping like most places here. Plus, the chocolate croissant had real Apple inside--a nice touch.

My only downgrade is that their tea selection is limited, and they have no loose-leaf teas. But then again, you're here for the baked goods anyhow.

While we did not get a sandwich as we were here during breakfast, they did look fantastic sitting in the display case.

This us as close to a European bakery we've seen down under so far.

Never had a problem with the food here after many years coming to Lorne. Busy periods can result in slow service, but if you're on holiday what's the rush? Enjoy

Chunky mushroom pie was great and a vegetarian focaccia. Coffee was excellent too.
