Isshin Japanese Restaurant Forest Hill

Found this gorgeous Japanese buffet in Forest Hill. On weekends, it's $49 for adults and $14-$24 for kids depends on the age. Drinks are not included but reasonably priced. Even dining out these days easily exceeds $50, so this seems quite reasonable.

The place is bustling. The food quality is excellent, fresh, and service is quite speedy (except for Gyoza we ordered which took a bit long). The portions are Entree size, allowing you to order more at once, following the principle of minimizing waste.

Sushi and sashimi were fantastic, and we indulged in them upon arrival. Chawan mushi (steamed egg) was a personal favorite, and today I finally enjoyed it freely😋. The raw beef was slightly salty for my taste, but the freshness compensated for it.

Seafood scallops were nice; we ordered six servings for four people, and they were delicious. Special mentions for the fried squid tentacles and teppanyaki beef steak – perfectly cooked. Tempura, including shrimp and various vegetables, had a thin and crispy crust, very tasty.

My favorites included matcha and black sesame ice cream, with a strong black sesame flavor. The chocolate mousse with plum wine was also delightful. Definitely will return💗

Great place to dine with excellent food. Love their Beef Tataki and Sushi & Sashimi combination. Friendly staff and comfortable seating. Will definitely return. 10/10

It was my first experience here(all you can eat) but I loved it so much! The portion size is just about entree sized but well all the items we ordered were just amazing 😍 couldn't take photos of everything ordered

Hands down winner is the chocolate mousse, and I would spend my entire buffet eating nothing else if theyd let me!
Its not really a mousse, its closer to a cremeux which is what I love and it is perfection. Rich, dark, smooth and sweet. Best dessert ive eaten anywhere and in a long time.

By far one of the best order at the table buffets I've ever been to. Food was fresh and absolutely delicious. Personal favourites were the dory fish, the teriyaki steak and the scallops. The prawn spring rolls and tempura were also fantastic! Top it off with the black sesame ice cream for an amazing visit.

We have been there on Saturday dinner 2nd session and many ppl waiting. but not waiting too long time then have the seat.
Reasonable price $49 per person So the although there is not many choices on menu, it is totally understood in terms of the price. They have been served very quickly and very good service.
I recommend for family reunion and many friends catch up party.

I absolutely love this restaurant. For the price that you pay, you get your moneys worth. The quality of the food is top notch, and i would recommend.

First time here, been wanting to try for a while. Interesting concept. You have a 2 hour sitting and can order as much as you can eat of entree sized serves. They also have a la carte. If you have any leftovers over 100g you get charged $10! Stops wastage. Food and service was great! Some of the alcohol prices were a bit high. We got Lychee cider, $9.50, only 1.15% alcohol! This restaurant has an all you can eat option for a pretty good deal (49.95$ per person) and how it works is explained very clearly on the front of the menu, including a very reasonable 100g rule. The food came out so quickly and was so yummy. As soon as I picked up the menu, wait staff arrived to take my order. 5 stars all around!!

came for the Set B bento - beef was extremely tender and everything was extremely delicious. service was great and food was prompt , plenty of parking

Good experience. Came on a Wednesday night. Seating time 2h, last order at 1.5h. Good variety. Place was full - so taking that into consideration service was relatively fast enough. Staff were all very pleasant. Some of my favourite were scallop mentai, gyumaki (thinly sliced beef wrapped around enoki mushroom and grilled with teriyaki sauce), Japanese seafood salad, soba salad and beef tataki. Wish I had a bigger appetite to try more things! Will return again. 🙂

Buffet was really worth the money. The food tasted good, time taken to serve each order is also pretty reasonable. Could improve in not messing up orders though LOL
