I can remember when there was no front gates, a very peaceful place to be.

Mosses has been welcoming to me.

I have been in the monastery and St Mary's over a few years now and am always welcomed.

Please do check first on whether they are open or not.

A Very Blessed and Great Monastery... I have spent countless times here in Solace with the Lord. I was guided and spiritually nourished by My Father Monks who inhabit this Monastery in Solace, Contemplation, Silence and Ceaseless Prayer.

A Very Blessed & Holy Monastery... You must talk to the Abbott of the Monastery and confirm an appointment and time of your visit. As Monks require quiet and silence constantly and during which they dwell in their cells and or work and care for the Monastery itself.

You must make a time for your visit. You cannot just drive up to the Monastery and expect to just walk-in unannounced and without reason. (i.e. Is the purpose of your visit to Pray, have a Spiritual Retreat away from everything in Silence and Thankfulness to the Lord - or is there other motives or do you just seek to look around - as if this is a museum?)

The Monastery always welcomes visitors both internal and external to the Coptic Orthodox Church with open arms. You must make an appointment or discuss a duration for your Spiritual Retreat or stay with the Abbott of the Monastery, this is due to the Sanctity of the Place and also due to the Strict Monastic Orders in which all Monks require to follow their Holy Orders as Servants of the Lord.

Make an appointment and or time for your stay with the Abbott and you will just see how special this Holy Monastery is.

In Christ Always

It is with great disappointment that I write this low review.
I arrived early today in front of the Monastery and walked the surrounding streets for a while.

The sign clearly said open between 9am – 4pm however as I arrived back at 9:30am the gate was still closed. Then a Red Ute opened the gate, I was too far back to make myself noticeable from the distance. The Ute went through then locked the gate behind them. I SMS’d the number on the gate however there was no response.

How sad that Buddhist temples are open nearly every-day to the public yet we have Christian so called ‘monastery’ that are closed to the public in a remote area that is doubtful to have high vandalism. Monks and nuns are perceived to be mostly time aware.
The experience is a shame.
