Mount Surprise Tourist Van Park Motel & BP Roadhouse

Camped here unpowered for 6 nights. Quiet and full of bird life. Hot chips cooked how I like em. Had ponies and Wemu the 15 year old emu at my tent just on other side of fence and a friendly magpie who visited every day. Close to Undara Lava tubes which was worth the tour (Wind Tunnel) lots of great walking treks in the National park if you can do the Rosella circuit experienced hikers (fit) 3-4 hrs with great views, diverse landscapes and peace n quiet, I didn’t see another. Stay here and support local small busines not off shore investors. There is a basic grocery shop at post office and meals available here and at the pub next door. Get your fuel here as it’s also the BP. Staff are friendly and pool was clean and refreshing. I can’t comment on the rooms available with AC. Not a busy road out front so that wasn’t a problem. Has bird aviaries of various parrots who I’m sure would prefer to be free with their visiting buddies. I’m not a fan of captive birds but each to their own. I grew up with aviaries and I understand the love of birds n caring for them. Well kept and loved animals here. Must stay if your passing through and remember support small locals rather than investment groups like Undara Experience.

Stayed for 3 weeks in our caravan.. Trish is amazing ... a true country girl.
The park is like an oasis ..so leafy with lots of shade and a delightful pool. Room for the biggest rigs down to a camper.
We used the Mt Surprise Tourist Park as a base to day trip to the canyons and the Undara Lava Tube Caves.
This place is so good that we didn't want to leave 😊
Do an overnight stay at Cobald Gorge by taking the Savannahlander historic train to Cobald Gorge.

I always try to stay here. Lovely owner and worker.

The food is fresh and prepared daily as needed and tastes yummy and the coffee is delicious too !! A must stop over place for a great relaxing time !! Thoroughly enjoyed being there and will be back !

What can I say, beautifully big rooms, comfortable beds, excellent hot showers, my wife, myself, and granddaughter had a beautiful overnight stay, before heading back home after a memorable few days out in the Savannah and surrounds of the gulf country. I must say that Mt'Surprise is a "Surprise", having not been there for nearly 35 years, it is a pleasurable (if not a bit hot), place to stay for a short getaway.
Good on ya guys! We did have an enjoyable time, and we will certainly consider staying here again, should we ever go through that way again, hopefully it will not be 35 years??

What a great little park ...wemu the emu is just gorgeous and Trish the owner is fabulous. Meals are delicious...rooms clean and tidy...this place will always be our half way stop to karumba .

A beautiful shady areas with drive through spots. Quiet and out off the main drag. The staff are friendly and willing to help if needed. Be there late in the afternoon for the daily black hawk feeding.

Nice burger, great camp area, great pool, clean bathrooms and friendly staff. Powered sites are big and cozy. Will be back

We came back as love it here.It might not be a top notch park some want but has all you need in camping.Friendly,quiet,pool,fires,clean,Animals to entertain you.Camping is supposed to be just that, house work is for home not in out back.Trish is a treasure to this park a natural.Thank you again for use of your property and great rates.

Had a delicious dinner and breakfast at the 3 Emus Restaurant. Couldn’t recommend enough!

Good Park with both nice cabins and drive in drive out sites that are hedged which gives some privacy as well as camping sites, lots of shrubbery and trees with free clean BBQ's in several spots, owners are relaxed and allow free late check out.

Great place to stay for a night or 3. Very friendly owner and beautiful birds. Make sure to have a burger, would rival any you've ever eaten before

Great spot. Excellent amenities. Good large sites. Short walk to swimming hole.

It is the cheapest and has a pool is clean and quiet. The burgers are great.

Fantastic place to stay. Very friendly staff and excellent facilities.
