New Italy Rest Area

As others have said a great place to stay overnight. Very popular with at least 20 vehicles overnight and still plenty of room. From Tents, to top of vehicles, motorhomes and pull through big rigs. ⭐Please pay your $10 to support this stop. Thanks Little Italy

We’ve passed New Italy a few times and always wanted to stop but every time we did it was pouring rain. Finally we had the chance.
Only a tiny place in the middle of nowhere but filled with lots of interesting history regarding the Italian immigrants who came to Australia for a better life. Read story on Wikipedia.
There is a museum with photos and information on the families who first settled there. The cafe is situated in the museum area. As well as delicious Italian style fresh panini toasties and coffee they sell locally made products as well as salami.
Large verandah decorated with large paintings of scenes of Italy as well as indoor seating. There is also a statue of Michelangelo’s David.
Well worth the stop, interesting and food was delicious.

Little Italy is an excellent stop along the M1 Highway, regardless of your direction.
It features public toilets and a spacious, tar-sealed parking lot where you can park your van overnight for just $10. Highly recommended!

There is very meaningful place to Italian and to me they have good cafe and you can stop here have a look the museum and the Italian immigrants history here.
I think they still try to build something more here and I am looking forward.

For a stopover at $10 per car, you really can’t expect more! Spacious flat parking area, plenty of space. Clean toilets and washing up station with hot water. Road noise is acceptable.

Lovely spot to stay overnight. The New Italy museum has a really nice cafe there and also a terrific museum that you should see. Toilets and large carpark for you to park in and stay overnight.

Wonderful and convenient rest area. The donations eftpos was an excellent idea and at $10 it is great value. We felt safe and secure and the road noise wasn't too bad. The adjacent centre was really interesting and the bakery was fabulous.

This is one of the best rest stops/free camps on the Pacific Highway..
Lots of space, off the road, plenty of grassed areas for kids and dogs.

Really appreciate a good rest place that welcomes overnight stay. We were in our van with plenty of other vehicles so felt very comfortable. Clean toilets with face/dish washing area. Cafe conveniently open in the morning and some interesting history of the area to have a look. Worth the donation!

Excellent for light meals and drinks. Good value. Quiet and restful venue with clean toilets.
Museum honoring the early Italian settlers who moved there and developed the area.

Definitely one of the better free camps. Clean toilets and wash bay facilities, great solar lighting for nighttime, full cafe, Pavilion, gardens and we'll mowed grounds. Only $10 a night as a donation in the box and to be honest it's definitely worth it if you can afford it.

The Glass art shop has beautiful varieties of glass creations - dolphins, tigers, turtles jewellery stands, you name it.
The Cafe has high quality and tasty food, definitely could recommend it.

If you’re driving up and down the pacific highway you must stop at this rest area. Lots of space, a cafe and a museum. It’s the perfect break for your trip.

Great place ,well looked after by volunteering/ volunteers, very interesting historical location, well recommended dropping in for a coffee & a history lesson.

We need more rest stops like this that welcome campers overnight. Large carpark set back from the highway with toilet facilities.

Cool rest area to park the van and spend the night surrounded by a beautiful forest. It's worth to visit the museum and know a bit about the amazing story of the Italians settlers that went there. They don't speak Italian but they try to keep the Italian essence.

A beautiful setting. Great coffee, gift shop. Amazing history museum. Also supports travellers 👍New addition of a local produce shop.... tomatoes smelt like tomatoes!!! Will be a frequent stop for me.

One of the only rest areas in the North Coast you can legally stay overnight. New Italy rest area consists of a large carpark back from the highway, surrounded by privately owned bush land. Ideal for caravans and campervans, it can fill up quickly so it’s ideal to arrive before sundown. The facilities include toilets, non-drinking water and an area to wash plates/faces - all of which are kept clean.
New Italy is run by volunteers so please leave a donation in the box if you can.

Travelling south to north, we stop at rest areas to sleep at night. This was the best. Look at the photos. Then in the morning they have a nice coffee area.
