These pics are from mid 2022 and earlier, but finally getting round to writing a review.

Menu encapsulates the best of modern Japanese - fresh sashimi and delicious cocktails on offer.

An extensive wine, spirits and sake offering in house with delicious modernised Japanese a La carte dishes.

Standouts have always been the sushi taco and sashimi platter, lobster prawn crepes and pork chashu steak.

Please bring back the sushi rolls!!!

Keen to visit again sometime soon for the new menu!

Excellent food and superb service.
Went here for a friend’s birthday dinner. The taste is so satisfying I cannot complain on any food we have ordered. The owner seemed to recognise us as we always go to most of his restaurants to dine.
We were told to try the Dining in the Dark Experience. Maybe next time.
Kosho is definitely one of those restaurants you must try in North Adelaide. You won’t regret the visit.

Koshō is a Japanese restaurant that serves Japanese-French fusion dishes, in what used to be the French restaurant Cliche.
We decided to try the premium “Let us look after you” option for $88 /pp - which does not include dessert. As our seating was reserved for 1.45 hours - we were worried that we might not have enough time to complete the degus course; as the first 2 course took 45 minutes to table. But once they started the first 2 courses, the others followed quite quickly.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the tuna belly sashimi on our sashimi platter, as the Otoro/chūtoro were not listed on their ala-carte menu. Unfortunately, the waitress looking after us was not aware of what sort of cuts our tuna belly were (Otoro versus chūtoro) - but given the specks of Akami within the belly flesh, my suspicion is Chūtoro. There were also a Hokkaido scallop per person generously garnished with Ikura. There were also the requisite Tuna Akami, salmon and kingfish. The second course was tuna tartare - and that dish was excellent. Next were Yakitori, soft shell crab sliders (one slider pp) and a “French-influenced” Nasu Dengaku with blue cheese infused tomato marmalade with Miso. Now, this dish can be polarising - if blue cheese is or isn’t your thing. The chargrilled lamb cutlets were just yum ! We gave the Earl Grey Tiramisu a go, to finish things off - and that dessert was great. It reminded us of the Earl Grey Chiffon from Bai Long and Busan Baby.
The servings are huge, and you will walk out feeling really well fed. The only negative comment would be the slow start to the first few dishes, as there are time limits for the early evening seating which management will need to consider. But rather than giving Koshō 4 stars, the food was really good and plus the kitchen was happy to accommodate our dietary dislikes and the friendly service by the floor staff - they get 5 stars - and we’ll come back.

We booked online for our group of 5 and opted for the 1830 start with 95 minutes for our table

We'd all been to Japan many times, especially our three Uni Japanese majors, including two Japanese teachers with 25-trip experience. We all had high expectations

We were promptly seated and soon enjoying Wicks sparkling [$9/glass] and Asahi Black [$12]

The food is French-influenced Japanese - some dishes are fusion and others lean more to classic elements of either culture

We chose the banquet since it is extraordinary value-4-money at $58/person - a wonderful selection of Small and Large plates - easy to share, exquisitely presented and flavourful. My photos are a sample of dishes we shared - named by the menu listings

The restaurant soon filled but the table spacing and acoustics provided ample privacy. Service was good and the food outstanding! A very relaxing evening with great food and company

Our bill was ~$450, with ~$150 of that for drinks, including a $29 sake tasting and a $16 cocktail and an $18 dessert

The slow cook beef and soft shell crab sandwich are the best! The staff are so kind and giving us the best dinning experience. Will definitely come back again and try the desserts.

A beautiful venue to enjoy a classy meal of eats meets west fusion. Dumplings for entree, beef cheek with mash for main. Friendly, attentive service, refreshing cocktails and overall great atmosphere

Had a great dinner experience in kosho, tuna tartare is great, sashimi is fresh, kingfish collar was especially yummy, I love it. The sirloin was a bit too chewy, but the sauce was pretty good!
And the service was nice, definitely worth a try!

New review July 2020: we had a big group dinner, and the manager kindly accommodated us with a group tasting menu, and threw in a dessert at the end as well. We all loved the food, and there were plenty of choices for alcohol as well! Everyone was super stuffed by the end.
.
Kingfish sashimi: excellently cured, with some wasabi as a bit of a kick.
.
Miso eggplant with blue cheese gratin: this was so good! Amazing fusion of flavours.
.
Snake beans with chilli bean paste: very nicely done. Slightly fermented flavour to it, which I love.
.
Pork jaw with crackling and Yuzu gel: omg this was sooooo good! The pork was perfectly done - super tender! Paired well with the crackling and the yuzu gel.
.
Murray valley pork cutlet with burnt cabbage: the pork was amazingly tender. Everyone loved this one! Surprisingly the burnt cabbage was a crowd pleaser. People were fighting over it!
.
Beef cheeks with mash potato: wow the beef literally fell apart when you touched it. Delicious!
.
Confit mushroom medley: bold flavours but well balanced. There was a softly poached egg in there for you to mix it all in. Worked really well.
.
Teriyaki salmon with wakame mash potato: really tasty! No complaints about this one.
.
Chargrilled chicken thigh with pearl couscous: the chicken had excellent chargrilled smokey flavour.
.
Dessert: Chocolate ball with ice cream inside, and the chocolate shell melts away when you pour a warm caramel sauce on top. Perfect end to an amazing evening!

Attended kosho for dinner a few nights ago. We had the Chargrilled Lamb ribs, Miso eggplant, Lobster Crepe, caviar sushi, Passionteaka Cocktails, Sirloin Steak and Cherry tomatoes with balsamic glaze.

Pros: The food was absolutely phenomenal!!!! The cocktails were also fantastic!

Cons: The plates (I featured one below with a piece of steak and tomato) made me so extremely dizzy everytime I looked down to eat! Also, the slats on the back wall pictured behind me, have downlights in them and throw off a nauseating backdrop if you look at it too long. We ended up having to sit next to each other. If you are Neuro sensitive maybe ask for the window booth. This messed with my epilepsy but I am very sensitive so just a little warning for anyone else. Also I'm allergic to fish so wasn't able to have any of that, this meant no Gyozas as they are made with fish sauce - this includes the duck and pork Gyoza.

Other than that, absolutely no faults. The service was superb, extremely attentive waitresses. Low music, fully stocked bar, clean bathrooms.

We will return! And thankyou again Kosho for our voucher! See you soon 🖤🖤

Great experience here eating with a blind fold on. I think it’s called Dining in the dark.
The drinks were so nice and fortunately the food is top notch as we couldn’t see what we were eating. Will be back and this time all 5 senses will be tantalized no doubt.

Went for the Woodstock winery dinner and just loved it all. The chef is imaginative without being pretentious, great vibe, good people to hang with, and very delicious wines. Great night out, can't wait for the next.

Friendly staff, delicious pastries, good coffee and fantastic brunch. Best cure for a hang over is to add the extra hash brown. We have also attended functions here in the upstairs private area and the wines were phenomenal. Cannot recommend enough

Beautiful and minimal Japanese style restaurant serving some of the tastiest Traditional Japanese dishes I've tasted to date!

Definitely my new favourite place for a mouth watering bowl of Aburi Salmon and Takaoyaki!

Highly recommend this restaurant if you're missing the taste of Japan!
