Taita's House

I had a wonderful experience at Taita's House, a cozy and authentic Lebanese restaurant in Thornbury. The food was delicious and fresh, especially the famous Fatoush salad and the chicken Shawarma. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. The service was warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was homey and inviting. We ordered the banquet for two (split between vegan and non-vegan) and it came with Cinnamon Tea and a mouth watering dessert. Taita's House is a hidden gem that offers a taste of Grandma's cooking. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Lebanese cuisine or wants to try something new and exciting.

One of the things I love most about the Arabic culture is always growing up with Taita’s (Grandma’s) food, so upon stumbling across this little gem with a name that spoke to my heart I had very high expectations.

It went absolutely above and beyond said expectations, the food was phenomenal, the hospitality was even better. The loveliest people with the most authentic and delicious Arabic food.

Must revisit soon!

I travel alot for work and this has been probably my favourite dining experience ever. Food is amazing , service exceptional and the homely setting is gorgeous. I really dislike coming to melbourne for work but this place is a gem and worth all the time I spent in traffic today 😊. Will be booking the lovely courtyard for my birthday in May to share the experience with friends .

I've been here a few times and each time it gets better. The food is authentic and delicious. You get heaps of food and it's good value The atmosphere is laid-back and not fussy. They have a nice courtyard out back for the warmer months too.

Delicious food obviously made with love and served with pride. We chose the banquet. Amazing value, the food kept coming and every dish was so flavoursome. Can’t wait to try the breakfast now!

I was very hungry on my way to either KFC or Subway and to hate myself for going to either when I noticed Taitas House on the corner opposite.
Amazing food, 10/10 wrap and pulpy orange juice. I will be going in for dinner soon now that I've found this place. Excellent funky home vibe decor from what I can see and the loveliest lady served me.

Amazing, authentic, and delicious Lebanese food. We had the breakfast which was exceptional. Everything was made in house including lebanese sausages. The cherry on top was the friendly and welcoming service. 10/10

Abundant servings, amazing taste and excellent customer service. Highly recommended for friends and family gatherings. The ambiance was very homey and relaxing. A great place to enjoy meals and conversations. Its also pet friendly.

Beautiful Lebanese food with a delicious, nuanced flavor. Reasonably priced (about $30pp) and excellent quality. I will be back and highly recommend!

A delightful and delicious restaurant. From walking in, the place has a homely, welcoming vibe. Owner Zina is friendly, and a great host. The banquet we had is a terrific showcase for the variety of dishes they serve. All is fresh, delicious, and with generous portions. We crossed town, south to north, to go there, and would do it again!

My dinner at the shop was amazing! Lamb skewers, Kafta, is the my favorit!! Butter flavor in the rice is so balanced and yummy. And finish with ice-cream is perfect!
All the staff were very friendly and also to my doggy. Highly recommend to take your doggy with your dinner!

That meal was one of the best I've had in a long time. And the hospitality was warm and genuine.
I can't remember ever being to a restaurant like Taita's House. It is unique.
Taita's House isn't a fancy restaurant. It doesn't have fancy anything really.
What it is is a place where I can visit Xena's family and they will cook for me like I'm an honoured friend.
Tonight was my first visit. Xena was welcoming. Her mum gave us a wave from the kitchen door.
Our banquet consisted of an abundance of magnificently fresh, vibrant food lovingly prepared. (Desserts plus cinnamon and mint teas pictured.)
It is BYO and exceptionally good value.

The place has a good homely vibe. The servers are very warm and welcoming. The food is very nice and authentic. The owner loves to chit chat and make you comfortable! Must visit if you are around and crave authentic Lebanese cuisine!

I can't recommend Taita's House more. Wholesome, hearty homecooked food - was such a gift in getting through lockdown. When dining in (with BYO), Xena the owner makes you feel like you're right at home (or Grandma's home) with warm, friendly service & plenty of beautiful food. TRY HER BABAGONOUSH & I'm a little obsessed with her current Thurs special of Molokhia. Also, she has a beautiful courtyard to enjoy.

Tried this when it was brand new two or so years ago and it was remarkably good. Traditional, not over fancy and very enjoyable.

Wow!! Amazing food, beautiful staff offering great service & such great value. We enjoyed the $50 banquet but was way too much food to eat. We were offered take away containers to take home any left overs which will take care of lunch tomorrow too. Restaurant is also byo wine.
Highly recommended and we'll definitely return.
