Gigi’s Gelato

This place does amazing gelato! The texture is so smooth and the flavours are great. I got pistachio and coffee sorbet which were not too sweet. They also have seasonal and rotating flavours which means I’ll have to come back.

We are so fortunate to have Gigi’s in Yarraville. The gelato flavours are delicious, unique, and constantly changing every time we go. Sue (one of the owners) is super friendly as well, and always happy to explain the flavours to us.

We also had one of their cakes for a birthday and it was delicious. My personal favourite is the semifreddo-on-a-stick in espresso. Would highly recommend everyone check out this place!

Stopped in 3 times in 2 week. The ice cream is super creamy and made using natural and fresh ingredients.

The Banana and caramel was literally like a banana caramel smoothie.

The normal chocolate is great but if the single origin is on the menu, it's a must get. Rich chocolate mousse like ice cream that's just so good!

I bought a vanilla and meringue gelato cake from Gigi's to celebrate my husband's birthday with the whole family. The quality was next level! It had amazing flavour without being too sweet and was so fresh and creamy. It was excellent value and made our celebration so special! With so many other delicious cakes to try, we will be back for more!

Fun gelato flavours with the best texture in terms of creaminess and consistency. This local gelato parlour offers a range of flavours that transport you around Italy. They rotate every week with new flavours as they only use fresh ingredients until finished. Don’t expect your boring flavours.

The friendly lady who served us let us try a few flavours but it didn’t really help us narrow our options bc they were all so good.

Torrone/Nougat (5/5): my favourite from this gelato rotation. Didn’t even order a scoop bc I needed something lighter but definitely coming back before they run out. Had a creamy nutty flavour with a hint of honeycomb which was out of this world. Not too sweet, and the mellow flavour is honestly so heavenly. Reminds me of my favourite gelato scoop from a Brunswick gelato parlour but with a creamier consistency.

Lemon meringue (4.5/5): popping with flavour and zing. This was so good. Had the perfect balance of creaminess, sweetness and sourness. Great after a heavy dinner.

Strawberry cheesecake (4/5): yum! Could do with a bit more strawberry but the cheesecake element was spot on, so creamy but not too sickening.

Overall, Gigi do one of the creamiest gelatos in Melbourne. Definitely give it a try if you’re in the area!

We are relatively frequent customers at Gigi!! Any time we try other gelato places around Melbourne we always say it isn't as good as Gigi's. The variety of flavours and quality of gelato is next level. They make all the cakes and sweet treats that go into their gelato as well. Super passionate owners and so friendly.

Obsessed with this gelato. This family-owned Yarraville store make their own in-house Italian gelato fresh with new flavours rotating through daily.

Ice cream scoops we tried:
✨pistachio - a classic done right! nutty, creamy, and a tiny bit savoury to keep you scooping!

✨hazelnut + sea salt - another little savory flavor that is fabulous. It is a rotating flavor but definitely want to petition for them to keep it on the board, because it was one of our faves.

✨chocolate + orange was so good! The citrusy notes and the cocoa blended very well for a lovely fragrance.

✨ricotta + honey has such a strong honey flavor - it was mellow and soo creamy.

It’s $6 for one scoop, $7.5 for two, and $9 for three 💕

Mini gelato cakes:
✨zabaglione - a traditional Italian flavor that features the strong taste of Marsala wine. It is silky in texture and just the right level of sweetness.

✨lemon meringue - has a gorgeously brown meringue on top that pairs very well with the lemon.

There are also bigger celebration cakes available, all with a bit of ice cream or semifreddo integrated.

Gigi is a maestro galatiere, and an absolute perfectionist with his flavours and textures, and it shows in every single scoop. Sue is just the loveliest, always patiently letting us taste test every new flavour (before I inevitably settle on stracciatella whenever it's available).

the design of the shop is beautiful, art deco inspired and inviting. the location is very convenient for stopping by for dessert after a meal in the village, or for getting a treat while shopping, or taking on a stroll through the park, or even just making a special trip specifically for gelato - it's well worth it!!

Without a doubt the best gelati I've tried in Melbourne! A boutique family owned business with lovely owners. They have all the classic flavours but also some uniquely Italian choices that aren't available anywhere else. Try one of the Italian flavours, you won't regret it!

Popped in for gelato a couple of weeks ago with my family. My little boy enjoyed a chocolate gelato in a cup and I had Macadamia flavour. They were absolutely wonderful. Definitely pop in if you are looking for some amazing, freshly made gelato!

This is the best gelato I’ve ever had! While newer to Yarraville, it feels like walking in to visit an old friend every time we visit. Sue is incredibly generous and always makes sure there is strawberry ice cream on Wednesdays for my son when he visits with his grand mother. The flavors are sophisticated and moorish and too easy to eat, and it’s exciting to see what will be on tap each time you go in. We are so lucky to have them in our village! The cakes and treats are fantastic for taking away too.

I’m so lucky to have Gigi’s Gelato in my neighbourhood. Authentic, delicious gelato made from scratch with pure, quality ingredients and the most important ingredient of all - passion!
Gigi is truly the maestro of gelato and his wife Sue is delightful, always friendly and welcoming. I feel transported to Italy every time I go there (and it’s often). If you haven’t yet discovered Gigi’s, do yourself a favour and get on board. As my friends and family say ‘it’s worth travelling for’.

My sister, partner and I are regulars at Gigi’s - we love the gelato and have nearly sent ourselves broke over our gelato obsession here! Gigi is an amazing chef and he’s always happy to share how he’s come up with the latest flavour/gelato recipe (that he makes from scratch!). The flavours are authentic, and we love what Gigi and Sue have created here in Yarraville. If you’re in the area, you must pop in and try a scoop or 5!!
