This place is absolutely amazing??? Honestly didn’t expect much when I first stepped in. A Malaysian friend of our recommended it.

But then the aunties started talking to us and I quickly realized this was one of those places where it’s just a bunch of local aunties making food from their heart…and man was the food damn good.

The absolute clear winner was their “homemade egg tofu” dish (in my pictures).

Just order it, you won’t regret it.

We came last night with eating club. One of our members has a sever seafood and fish allergy and was well accommodated.
Every dish we had was a delight. Perfect textures and flavours.
Would highly recommend, and don’t be afraid if you have any allergies, as they will help you make great food choices!

Authentic and delicious yong tofu curry noodle soup. I dare say the BEST in Melbourne. The beef hor fun and wat tan hor are also very yummy. Service is pretty good. I’ve never had to wait long for my food. The restaurant owner, Suzanne is a very lovely lady who treats her customers like good friends. Two thumbs up.

Authentic Malaysian fare in a really cosy spot.

We were welcomed warmly and taken care of right away. Food came quickly but was piping hot and clearly freshly made with the highest quality ingredients. Seafood was all fresh and everything was so flavourful!

Prices were really fair and affordable and serving sizes extremely generous.

Drove an hour for this and would do it again. Must eat place in Melbourne!!!

Marvellous service even though packed at 8:30pm Thursday. Chose 6 stuffed tofu & a delicious Tom Yum soup base fir main. The entree squid tentacle was hot, fresh but too large a serve for 1 person. Share size for sure.
Best Tom Yum soup base in Melb. Pls enjoy.

Delicious and authentic Malaysian food. Had the yong taufu there, curry wasn't too spicy and service was nice and quick! Definitely will be back!

Update: back again in 2024, one of the best Malaysian restaurant. I had roti (made in house, authentic!), hainanese chicken rice, and nasi lemak. All friggin awesome. Gets busy here around 6.30ish but they turn around super quick.

I have been longing for Hainanese chicken rice since I came back from Singapore early this year. This place’s chicken rice was impressive and the taste and texture was so close to those hawkers centers in south Asian countries. The portion was generous as well. With inflation and cost of ingredients going up, a lot of the restaurants have reduced the volume they serve in a dish even with increased price. I’m glad to see M Yong has kept their food quality even there are challenges have to be faced.

I've been coming here for years, and their Yong Tofu noodles is my go-to dish. However, all their dishes are delicious. The "aunties" are always very friendly and welcoming. Can get quite busy, so be prepared to wait or be squashed in amongst other diners. Or try making a booking ahead if you're a large group. Overall, highly recommended!

Definitely my top one Yong tofu place in Melbourne. The aunties who work there are super nice and friendly, they’re really helpful too but the way. We ordered Yong tofu with spinach noodle and curry soup base and also the fry noodle with chicken curry. Both dishes were exceptional! All ingredients in the Yong tofu were portioned well and fresh, the curry soup base was so thick and fragrant that I drank the whole bowl of soup. We also got their specials which is the barley drink. It was exactly how I love my barley drink back at home. Definitely five stars for Myong Tofu!

100% pure five stars.
Excellent customer service, friendly, and helpful.
Food arrived promptly and was excellent quality and taste.
Mouth watering beef rendeng, that fell apart in the mouth.
Not 100% sure but fairly confident I heard a few people calling the main women mumma, anyway, authentic Malaysian, worth the visit.
I had some of the hienese chicken which was top quality.

One of my favourite places in Melbourne. There is always a soft spot for cheap, high quality Asian food for me and this place achieves that.

The DIY style soups (yong tofu) is amazing value and taste. The chicken broth is amazing as is the curry broth. You get a choice of 6 "ingredients" to add from a range of 20 or so including tofu, bean curd, fish cakes etc. if you are after Laksa, it's good but it's not as good as Laksa King next door.

The roti chanai with beef curry was AMAZING. Huge serving and wonderful strong flavour.

The staff here are very nice and the place itself is quite nice. They also have soy sauce and chilli and garlic and condiments you can add.

Definitely check this place out.

EDIT Have gone here a fair few number of times since and this place is easily a 5/5. The other dishes are as amazing; the yam ring chicken is as good as it looks. The egg tofu is great if you love tofu. The sambal kampung is also great. Best of all, the staff are all so friendly and love a good chat!

This has got to be one of the best Yong tofu spot in Melbourne. The lovely aunties working there were super friendly, super helpful, and they just add to the whole vibe of the place.

We tried the Yong tofu with noodle and curry soup base, and the fish head curry noodle, and both were yum. The Yong tofu had good portions, everything was fresh, and the curry soup base was thick and delicious.

Stumbled across this restaurant by chance and what a good find. Very friendly Malaysian hosts and very good yong tofu selection in curry noodle soup. Hainanese chicken rice and dry noodles were also very tasty and authentic. We will definitely be back to try out other dishes especially the bak kut teh.

First time here and the owner lady greeted us to the table and helped us choose the dish but i have set my mind (friend’s influence) to try their Yong Tofu with curry soup.
$19 and get to choose your own noodle and 6 kind of dishes.
Damn delicious!!! It was mind blowing experience! Probably i was very hungry and the night was cold.
What a perfect meal with one warmest hospitality from amazing people!

( i got to try their XO Fried Rice and it was very yummmy also! )

Our family is a long time supporter of M Yong Tofu, this is our go to restaurant for authentic and delicious Malaysian. Our family all time favorite dishes are the yam ring chicken (it’s the best in town, if not in Australia) and the home made egg tofu (😋). You really can’t go wrong with whatever you order from the menu (we tried most of their items and love them all). Food comes quickly and we always get warm and friendly service there 😊

No frills Malaysian restaurant where you can get either individual dishes or main shared dishes. The yong Tofu was excellent with sour refreshing soup. Beef Rendang was soft and seasoned nicely which goes really well with the coconut rice. Definitely busy during rush hour so call ahead to book.

Been here a few times with the family, service and food are always quick. They’re famous for their yong tofu; stuffed capsicum, bitter melon and eggplant with tofu and minced fish. You can choose their chicken broth, tom yum or spicy laksa (my brother was red and sweating) and whatever noodle type you like for $19. I opted for their vegetarian prawn (deep fried bean curd with radish, carrot and mushroom) with vermicelli noodles and vegetarian broth was the most vegan option for $16. With a few baby corn, broccoli pieces and mushrooms slices, this was a tasty cheap eat for the cooler weather today. A family friendly place where we rock up with no wait for a table!

QUINTESSENTIALLY MALAYSIAN
Delightfully casual restaurant on busy Racecourse Road in Flemington. In the same strip as Laksa King and Chef Leganda.
Delicious and authentic Malaysian dishes in a friendly no frills setting. Fast service, many menu options and always a lively crowd.
Its very popular but the turnover is fairly quick so, if waiting for a tavble, it shouldn't be too long.
The tables are jammed in tightly so expect to be up close and personal to the diners at the next table :) People with mobility issues will struggle a little because of the this. Try for a table right at the front of the dining room if so.

We tried the Hainanese chicken (delicious) and a plate of char kway teow each (pretty good and quite a large serve).

This is the best hainanese chicken i've had so far, they've always been consistently delicious✨ The chicken is perfectly cooked in the sauce, and the sweet chilli dipping sauce compliments the chicken flavour so well. The rice is cooked with chicken flavour, which most places usually don't do. The soup isn't too heavy either, very simple yet tasty😋 The hot teh tarik hit the spot, it is so smooth and silky, not bitter but sweet enough. It's very soothing to drink 😌 The staff are super friendly too, I would recommend visiting M Yong Tofu for amazing food for a good price!
