Indulging in delightful meals at China Chilli is consistently a pleasure, even with the slightly higher prices. The flavors hit the mark, often featuring a spicy kick, though the option to request a milder spice level caters perfectly to our taste preferences. Our go-to dishes, stir-fry string beans, Kung Pao chicken, and Ma Po tofu, are a comforting and satisfying choice, especially for those who prefer a milder spice profile.

These guys do not deserve a rating of 3.6 stars (at the time of writing). I think 4.2 - 4.5 is closer to the truth, but i'll give them 5. We have been here a couple of times but I only took photos this time.

Fish in Chilli Oil 5/5: from the photo you may notice not many chillis floating in the dish, but that's because I ordered the less spicy version. It was still really spicy. The fish was perfectly cooked and delicious.

Mapo Tofu 5/5: if you know a better one in Melbourne, I would love to hear where it is. This is a beautiful dish, you can smell the floral sichuan peppercorns, the smoky chilli. It has an intense umami and flavour.

Tea smoked duck 5/5: beautiful tasting and the fat has been nicely rendered.

Ordering is via an iPad which is a problem if you do not read Chinese because not everything is translated. For example, you can order Mapo Tofu but not specify the spice level because it's in Chinese, not English.

Make a booking on the weekend. The trade mark dishes are a MUST. Very famous for its hot pot, but the a la cart menu is impressive. Very efficiently served and if you're not rushing just leave your number for them to call when the table is ready.

It's a complete mystery how this place has a 3.5 star rating. It's food is top tier and reasonably priced (it's extremely affordable with large groups). Some dishes are a little underwhelming - but most of its dishes are knockouts (like its spicy lamb ribs or kung pao prawns).
Their service is standard for a Chinese restaurant in Box Hill, and the restaurant comfortably will seat large groups.

Grwat spot for hotpot in box hill. Mushroom and tomato soup were awesome and flavourful but not loaded with msg. You do not feel dehydrated afterwards! Restaurant also kept a good sauce station with extra noodles and watermelon which was a nice touch. We will be back!

One of the best hot pots I've had in a while. Definitely very pleasant to dine in there. Nice decor inside. Service was actually decent and was overall quite friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Great to see this hotpot chain open in Box Hill. I’ve use to frequently visit their restaurant in the City. The hotpot all you can eat price works out to be around $50pp including soup choice, however I can definitely say it’s the BEST HOTPOT restaurant in Melbourne. The high quality selection and soup base is second to none!! It’s definitely great value for the quality! 100/10

Great food here, very authentic Sichuanese food. Have always been my go to Sichuanese restaurant. The stuff are friendly and patient as well. Hope you guys keep it this way

It's really nice. They gave my mother a gift after hearing it was her birthday and the food was great ( expecially the mild ones).
