Burgundy Street Family Medical

I have been a long term patient of this clinic and in particular, of
Dr. Joseph Fernando. From my own personal experience, it is extremely rare to find a doctor who takes a genuine interest in their patient's health as well as their overall well being and welfare.

Dr. Joseph Fernando does just that. He has helped me immensely through some rough periods over the past two years and I can honestly say, that his level of understanding and compassion in wanting to help was invaluable.

I highly recommend this clinic and this GP in particular.

Where do I start?!?
This clinic has been nothing short of fantastic. I have been attending this clinic for 2.5 years. Doctor Fernando has been a super man he has helped me in so many ways. The other doctors here are also incredibly amazing. The Nurse Chris she is phenomenal her level of care is amazing!! She is so gentle and respectful you honestly couldn’t find a better in house clinic nurse!
Then you have the lovely reception staff Emily who is without a doubt a golden shining star and makes every visit to the clinic fantastic and not only that her care for ever patient is above and beyond! You’ve also got Sharon and Jan who are also both incredibly lovely and treat you so well! The phone etiquette is outstanding.

I will travel near and far just to see Doctor Fernando and his fantastic team!

I've been coming to this practice for a number of years now for a variety of issues (health checks, blood tests, treatment plans, minor surgical procedures) and have never had an issue. I'm disappointed to see people complaining about cost or service and fail to see what a great and stressful job the doctors and staff must face. I'm currently seeing Dr Joelene and she is so compassionate and spends the time to really listen to me. Dr Joe always remembers my history and I really appreciate his directness and interest in solving the issue. Yes you have to pay now but geezus I've been to other bulk billing places where you are just another body in the line. Not at this practice.

Dr. Fernando has been our 'family doctor' for a few years now, and he fits the bill perfectly. It's easy to see that we're not just clients in his eyes; he understands and knows us individually, listens to us fully, and treats us with complete respect.

Finding a doctor who can provide a diagnosis is easy; finding one who can 'treat' you as a human, that's a little trickier.

Further, without exaggeration, I need to state that Nurse Cresilda Fernandez is among the absolute best at taking blood samples.

I am 64yrs old and not too good with google and IT. Hence shy of leaving google reviews at most time. But I was so impressed by Dr Fernando that I firmly decided to leave a note here on my experience. He is one of the very few Doctors who is more keen on your health and well being than simply grabbing your Medicare Card! He diagnosed my case on my first visit. He doesn’t go out of his way to save money for Medicare. If tests are needed to be done he gets them done. He is polite, gentle, very thorough, spends sufficient time with his patients, are just a few great qualities in him. This is what we expect from our GP. If needs be Dr Fernando will not hesitate to refer you to a specialist as was the case with me. I can’t think of another GP who is as dedicated to his patients as much as Dr Fernando. Even at this stage in my life, finally I met a Doctor that I know I will stay with to the end of my days. I have already recommended him to my friends and family. I also strongly recommend him to all you who read this. You are in great hands at the Burgundy Street Family Medical Clinic.

Joseph is a thoughtful and experienced doctor who made a special effort to ensure I received the best care possible.

Every GP here is so so great. Really great manner with patients, very knowledgeable. We come here ourselves and bring our young daughter as well and every time we leave with helpful treatment and advice. A great family GP.

Dr. Fernando is an amazing doctor! I’ve seen him over the last 5 years and is the best and most reliable doctor I’ve ever met. I travel over an hour across Melbourne just to see him. He is the most knowledgeable, trustworthy, genuine, attentive and proactive doctor I’ve ever met. I would travel any distance to see him. Dr. Fernando is excellent at what he does, he is able to be contacted at anytime and ensures he meets patients needs. He arranges referrals with specialists, at times personally to ensure patients are seen quickly. Dr. Fernando is extremely efficient and I couldn’t recommend him highly enough. He is the only doctor I truly trust. Excellent doctor I trust him with my family and my life. My partner and baby now sees Dr. Fernando and we wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Dr Joe is a first class GP and one of the best I've had in years. He has always taken great care and effort to diagnose and resolve any issues I've had. There have also been times where I've needed urgent medical care and the he has organised for me to be slotted in despite not having any appointments available.

Our family has used Dr Joseph and the team at Burgandy Street Family Medical exclusively for 6 years. We have three young children under 7 and have found this practice to have an exceptional level of service. We have also appreciated the extra effort that the team goes to when engaging specialists or other expertise within Dr Joseph’s broader network. We have navigated several medical issues during this time (outside of the normal colds and coughs) and Dr Joseph and team consistently go above and beyond in looking after us. I highly recommend this practice for both adults and children.

I have been consulting doctor Fernando for over 4 years now for my entire family. It is said that a good doctor’s comforting and reassuring words are more powerful than medicines. And Dr. Fernando is an incredibly experienced medical professional I have ever come across in my life. An absolute gem of a person. Extremely kind and empathetic. Best GP going around. Dr. Fernando takes the time to genuinely get to the bottom of my symptoms to best help me recover. He is extremely caring, understanding, kind and extremely professional. His knowledge and bedside manner is impeccable. I believe he has gone above and beyond not just for me or my newborn son but also my entire family.

This was previously a 1 star review due to a bad experience with their receptionist having to enforce a policy she probably didn't agree with. But it was changed to a 5 star review due to a good resolution to this administrative issue provided to my relative by his long term doctor, Dr. Fernando.

Dr. Fernando and Dr. Leel have been nothing but amazing with both my children. They are thorough and listen to any concerns we have about them. Dr. Fernando was great in guiding us through my daughters mental health care plan and reference for ADHD and always asks how she is going during appointments.
He is happy to help whenever we have concerns and is happy to see them multiple times a week if required. I'm so glad I found this practice and was able to get myself and my children into regular doctors who genuinely care about our health and wellbeing.

My wife and I have been seeing Dr Joe Fernando since 2011 and we cannot speak highly enough of him as our GP. My wife has some very complex health issues and Dr Fernando has been relentless at providing the very best solutions to her chronic conditions. We have found him to be a very genuine and caring professional and his network of specialists have been fabulous in caring for my wife as a team. Worthy to note that we live in Pakenham and that it takes us an hour travel each way to attend his clinic in Heidelberg but we would never consider changing GP's. He is the best! 10 out of 10 Dr Joe!.

I highly recommend Dr Joseph Fernando. He is the best GP I have ever seen and actually takes the time to listen and genuinely cares about your health, unlike a lot of other GP’s that just see you as a number.
